  1. Postpublished at 13:31 British Summer Time 8 September

    Worcs 95-7 v Notts

There's still a sliver of hope for Worcestershire with Gareth Roderick and Tom Taylor at the crease.

But it will not be easy with Muhammad Abbas coming back into the attack.

He's bowling with two slips and a gully but the third ball is a bit leg side and tucked away by Roderick for two.

Abbas is accurate for the rest of the over as Roderick defends down the pitch and then pinches the strike with a tight single down the ground, beating the return throw of Josh Tongue.

  2. Postpublished at 33.5 overs

    Leics v Glos 140-2

Sometimes it's a tough life being a bowler.

Logan van Beek finds the edge of Ben Charlesworth's bat, the ball runs down to third man where Ben Mike makes a hash of the save and it costs van Beek four.

Charlesworth is now 72 not out.

  3. 12,000 first class Surrey runs for Burnspublished at 13:27 British Summer Time 8 September

    Surrey 130-3 v Warwickshire

Ethan Bamber had something incredible for lunch, you can tell. He is so fired up since the interval.

He's found the bottom of Rory Burns' bat and so nearly was celebrating a wicket as the ball skidded past the timbers.

Burns has just passed 12,000 first class runs for the Feathers, so wouldn't have wanted to end a joyous day in such a fashion.

Some spell for the former Middlesex man, back in the capital.

  4. 'A real sense of occasion at Taunton'published at 13:27 British Summer Time 8 September

    Somerset 127-2 v Yorks

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

It's a bright day and a good crowd here. There's a real sense of occasion about County Cricket here at Taunton,

  5. Postpublished at 13:26 British Summer Time 8 September

    Sussex v Hants 87-3

Ben Brown defends down the track to keep out Jaydev Unadkat and aborts a cut at the last moment as the bowler gets one to jag in off the seam.

He leaves the last ball which misses off stump by a coat of varnish.

Maiden over and a good start to the session for the hosts.

  6. Decent day for Durham so farpublished at 13:24 British Summer Time 8 September

    Durham 138-1 v Essex

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Despite the loss of Emilio Gay for 22 this morning, Durham have continued to make progress out in the middle after winning the toss.

It's a warm day in Chelmsford and there is a nice breeze, but the batting conditions also look good so it was a good toss to win.

Alex Lees and Ben McKinney have formed a nice partnership. They have put on 83 runs so far, with Lees on 67 and McKinney on 46.

Durham and Essex have only won two games each this season and are both in a relegation scrap, but the visitors have not had a victory to celebrate since mid-May which seems an awful long time ago.

  7. dropped catch

Dan Lawrence dropped on 5published at 13:24 British Summer Time 8 September

    Surrey 129-3 v Warwickshire

Agony for Ethan Bamber who causes Dan Lawrence a string of problems before eventually finding the edge, sent through to the keeper Alex Davies, at a perfect height, right into the breadbasket, only for the captain to inexplicably drop it.

His head, and those of his teammates, drop nearly as quickly.

Lawrence is a very lucky boy.

  8. wicket

WICKET c Clarke b James 18published at 13:24 British Summer Time 8 September

    Worcs 86-7 v Notts

Lyndon James will continue from the other end and there's enough width for Matthew Waite to leave the ball outside off stump.

    Out! Soft dismissal.

Leg side from James and Waite has flicked that low to Joe Clarke at short mid wicket.

The session gets off to the worst possible start for the Pears and Tom Taylor will bat next.

  9. 50 runs

for Harry Camepublished at 32.1 overs

    Middx v Derbys 114-1

    Harry CameImage source, Rex Features

    Suddenly, it's raining 50s.

Olly Stone bangs one hard into the pitch at Lord's and Harry Came hooks it over square leg for six to bring up his half-century off 89 balls.

The partnership with Caleb Jewell is now worth 95.

  10. 'Better from Foxes but how damage has been done?'published at 13:21 British Summer Time 8 September

    Leics v Glos 130-2

    Richard Rae
    BBC Radio Leicester Sport

Much better from a Leicestershire point of view but how much damage has been done though? Quite a lot already.

  11. 50 runs

for Ben Comptonpublished at 13:21 British Summer Time 8 September

    Kent 132-1 v Lancashire

aaaand a half-century for Ben Compton too, by contrast with Ben Dawkins, this is his 26th in only 78 first class matches.

He brings it up with a leg-side clip for two, from 89 balls with seven fours.

Kent building a solid platform in the sun-drenched Garden of England.

  12. Postpublished at 13:20 British Summer Time 8 September

    Sussex v Hants 86-3

A single and a no ball from Unadkat early on but still a probing over as the India international gets the ball to nibble around on a length.

Left-armer Sean Hunt bowls at the other end and gets the ball to keep a bit low.

But the ball is leg side and whipped away by Ben Brown for a couple.

  13. Postpublished at 32 overs

    Somerset 124-2 v Yorks

Positive start to the afternoon by James Rew at Taunton.

He dabs Jack White down to third man for four and in the next over steers Jordan Thompson away square for another boundary as the Yorkshire all-rounder offers him too much width.

  14. 50 runs

for Ben Dawkinspublished at 13:19 British Summer Time 8 September

    Kent 132-1 v Lancashire

A maiden first class half-century for England Lions and Kent Academy product Ben Dawkins. Remember the name...

The 18-year-old brings up his 50 with an effortless drive through the covers for his ninth four in an 80-ball stay.

His partnership with Ben Compton has also passed 100 - brought up in just 132 deliveries.

  15. Postpublished at 13:17 British Summer Time 8 September

    Worcs 85-6 v Notts

Decent start from the Pears after lunch.

Matthew Waite gets a single to mid on and Gareth Roderick picks up four sweeping Liam Patterson-White behind square leg.

When do the quicks return? They did all the damage this morning.

  16. Play resumes at New Roadpublished at 13:15 British Summer Time 8 September

    Worcs 80-6 v Notts

Matthew Waite (16 not out) and Gareth Roderick (13 not out) somehow need to build an innings and try to rescue the Pears from a disastrous session.

The Notts pace bowlers barely put a foot wrong all morning.

Dillon Pennington and Josh Tongue took five wickets between.

Ethan Brookes was run out attempting a single off a pushed drive and being undone by a brilliant pick up and throw by Notts captain Haseeb Hameed on the off side.

Scoreboard pressure is on as Liam Patterson-White bowls to Waite.

  17. Play resumes at Chelmsfordpublished at 13:14 British Summer Time 8 September

    Essex v Durham 133-1

Ben McKinney needs four runs for a half-century and takes strike to Jamie Porter for the first over of the afternoon at sun-soaked Chelmsford.

Alex Lees already has his, he has loftier ambitions, on 62* at the opposite crease.

  18. Afternoon session begin at Hovepublished at 13:14 British Summer Time 8 September

    Sussex v Hants 81-3

Hampshire captain Ben Brown will face this first ball after lunch, which will be bowled by Jaydev Unadkat.

Toby Albert is 14 not out at the non-striker's end.

Sussex could really seize control of this game with an early scalp this afternoon in a crunch game for both teams, who are perhaps a little too close to the relegation zone for comfort - both within 15 points.

  19. Postpublished at 13:13 British Summer Time 8 September

    Leics v Glos 129-2

Just a quick reminder as Logan van Beek starts the first over after lunch at Grace Road that victory with at least 21 points will guarantee Leicestershire promotion to Division One for next summer.

One more wicket will secure the first of them but Ben Charlesworth and Miles Hammond batted well this morning and will be looking to build their partnership into a very substantial one, if possible.

Van Beek begins the afternoon with a maiden.

  20. Back under way at The Ovalpublished at 13:13 British Summer Time 8 September

    Surrey 127-3 v Warwickshire

Rory Burns is on strike on 49* for the opening over of the afternoon, facing Ed Barnard.

A single off the second ball brings up his half-century from 72 balls. A fine platform to build from.

Daw Lawrence is at the other end on 5*.
