  1. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:57 British Summer Time 8 September

    Malik lbw b Lawes 8 - Surrey 246 v Warwickshire 47-4

Tom Lawes is in the zone.

Another fierce yorker is fired in and this is a no-doubter, Zen Malik almost starts walking before the finger goes up.

Lawes knew, he didn't even turn round.

He has 3-2 from 16 deliveries.

Bears are up against it here. There are more than 21 overs remaining and the sun is out.

  2. wicket

WICKET Cooke c Broad b Guthrie 84published at 16:54 British Summer Time 8 September

    Northants v Glamorgan 326-6

Liam Guthrie breaks through with the second new ball.

The left arm pace bowler drops short and Chris Cooke pulls the ball to Justin Broad at deep square.

Timm van der Gugten is in next.

  3. new ball

New ball at Chelmsfordpublished at 16:53 British Summer Time 8 September

    Essex v Durham 280-5

We've had several replacement balls today, but we now have an actual fresh cherry.

Durham's run-rate has slowed, falling below 3.5 an over, having kissed five an over for much of the opening session.

Jamie Porter and Shane Snater are trying to find the wicket for a second bowling point for the hosts.

  4. Too many wickets lost for the runs accruedpublished at 16:51 British Summer Time 8 September

    Durham 280-5 v Essex

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

This is a really good batting track, so I think Durham have lost more wickets than they should have done at this stage.

The last two to fall were also examples of batsmen struggling for form.

Colin Ackermann didn't move his feet to a wide delivery from Shane Snater and got an inside edge onto his stumps. He was out for 15.

Ollie Robinson then clipped one down the legside from Doug Bracewell and was caught behind on 15. He looked really disappointed to be given out, but I think it was more symptomatic of the fact he should not have played the shot. He's got a habit of getting caught down the legside.

So, a look at the scoreboard, tells me Durham should not be five down for the runs accrued. They are at risk of leaving runs out there.

Ben McKinney, who has a fine 120, needs to find a partner to help re-build the innings.

  5. 'Lawes is getting this ball to comeback'published at 16:51 British Summer Time 8 September

    Surrey 264 v Warwickshire 46-3

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

Tom Lawes is getting this ball to comeback at real pace with that slingy action. He is quick.

This is going to be a tough period for Warwickshire.

  6. ouch!

Abbott makes the ball talkpublished at 16:51 British Summer Time 8 September

    Sussex 7-0 v Hants 226

Kyle Abbott is looking dangerous here. Tighter line than Keith Barker currently and Tom Haines is beaten outside off stump trying to drive.

He drives at another ball and it slams into his knee. Very ouch.

    Maiden over.

  7. Close of play at Tauntonpublished at 16:51 British Summer Time 8 September

    Somerset 155-3 v Yorkshire

The umpires admit defeat at Taunton and call off play for the day.

The players had to go off early in the afternoon session because of rain and there was to be no return, with only 42 overs bowled in the day.

James Rew will resume on 54 not out for Somerset, Tom Kohler-Cadmore having made 76 earlier in their innings.

  8. No hat-trick for Lawespublished at 16:48 British Summer Time 8 September

    Surrey 264 v Warwickshire 39-3

Five slips in place but no hat-trick for Tom Lawes, as he aims for the stumps again but this time strays too far down the leg side, allowing Zen Malik to allow it through to Alex Davies behind the pipes, diving to his left.

  9. 'Surrey on top'published at 16:48 British Summer Time 8 September

    Surrey 264 v Warwickshire 39-3

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM commentator

Now Surrey for the first time today are perhaps on top in this match.

  10. Postpublished at 76.4 overs

    Leics v Glos 311-4

This could be a very uncomfortable session for the Division Two leaders unless they can find a way to break this partnership.

Rishi Patel doesn't have the experience to tie up an end and Graeme van Buuren cuts him away for four.

The plus point for the Foxes is that they are only three overs away from a new ball after this one. But remember, their attack is minus Josh Hull.

  11. Postpublished at 16:47 British Summer Time 8 September

    Sussex 7-0 v Hants 226

Tom Haines is off the mark straight away with a couple nudged into the on side and one more off the next ball to long leg.

Daniel Hughes leaves the ball, back of a length, outside off stump to see out the over.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:45 British Summer Time 8 September

    Hain lbw b Lawes 0 - Surrey 264 v Warwickshire 39-3

Two in two balls... Tom Lawes is on a hat-trick.

Sam Hain goes for a golden duck.

Another blistering ball - north of 87mph - thumps the pads infront and after an age, up goes the finger.

Zen Malik will face the hat-trick ball.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:44 British Summer Time 8 September

    Davies lbw b Lawes 22 - Surrey 246 v Warwickshire 39-2

    Surrey get a big scalp.

Good pace from Tom Lawes who angles one in towards leg stump, Alex Davies tries to play across the line into the leg side but is struck infront. Up goes the finger. It was a very good shout.

Lawes barely looked back as he wheeled away with arm aloft.

Sam Hain is the next man in the middle for Bears, with Will Young there on five from 25 deliveries.

  14. Postpublished at 16:44 British Summer Time 8 September

    Sussex 4-0 v Hants 226

That will help! Outside off stump from Keith Barker and Dan Hughes steers the ball safely wide of three slips, down to deep third for four.

Hughes is beaten on the inside edge next ball and subsequently survives an LBW shout.

Abbott is round the wicket and that may not have been in line.

The over ends with a drive and miss outside off.

That over had a bit of everything and Keith Barker will share the new ball with Abbott from the Sea End.

  15. 6 runs

for Graham Clarkpublished at 16:41 British Summer Time 8 September

    Essex v Durham 280-5

An effortless pick-up from Graham Clark as Jamie Porter fires one onto his back hip, swivelling and pulling over the deep square leg boundary and about 10 rows back into the stand.

It's going to mean another change of ball as it's sustained some damage.

Durham are 20 away from a second bonus batting point.

  16. Latest from Tauntonpublished at 16:40 British Summer Time 8 September

    Somerset 155-3 v Yorkshire

There was supposed to be an inspection at Taunton at 16:30.

Unfortunately, the covers are back on.

    The waiting goes on.

  17. Postpublished at 16:40 British Summer Time 8 September

    Sussex 0-0 v Hants 226

Tom Haines and Daniel Hughes will get this innings started for the hosts.

Hampshire may well have a par score on this pitch, where scoring has not looked easy since about 11.30 this morning.

But the visitors will still need to strike early to contain Sussex.

Kyle Abbott will bowl to Hughes.

  18. Postpublished at 16:38 British Summer Time 8 September

    Surrey 246 v Warwickshire 39-1

Big appeal from Surrey as Tom Lawes fires one in at Alex Davies ankle, with the batter toppling over as the ball cannons in to him, before running away to the fine leg fence.

Out lbw? No, four leg byes. The ball was heading down and he might have been outside the line to boot.

  19. When is a catch not a catch?published at 73.4 overs

    Leics v Glos 297-4

Brilliant catch by Lewis Hill - except it counts for nothing.

Graeme van Buuren top edges a pull off Ben Mike, Hill runs in from the boundary and dives to take it in both hands.

But it's a no-ball.........Hill kicks the Dukes away in mock anger.

  20. 'It will be interesting to see the new ball'published at 16:36 British Summer Time 8 September

    Sussex v Hants 226

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

I'd like to think that as long as Hampshire bowl a very good line and length and are very disciplined that it will be difficult.

Just how much of the seam movement we've seen is down to a bit of damp around - we'll find out.

It will be interesting to see the new ball. I don't think Sussex quite used the new ball as they would have liked and the new ball seemed to come on quite nicely to the batters but it was after that first half hour where Sussex tightened up and then we saw with the ball getting softer. It sort of held into the wicket to a degree.
