    Sussex 17-1 v Hants 226

Oli Carter is in trouble here as he tries to leave the ball but it hits the face of the bat and bounces in front of keeper Ben Brown.

    Another very testing over.

Nine bowled and 13 left tonight.

  2. wicket

WICKET Allison lbw Pennington 5published at 17:14 British Summer Time 8 September

    Worcs 162-9 v Notts

Ben Allison has his first boundary, pulling Dillon Pennington away to fine leg.

But the bowler has his revenge three deliveries later.

Full length and striking on the knee in front of off stump.

Khurram Shahzad is the Pears number 11.

  3. 'No surprise to see Abbott strike early.published at 17:13 British Summer Time 8 September

    Sussex 17-1 v Hants 226

    Melinda Farrell
Sports broadcaster/journalist on BBC Radio Sussex

Kyle Abbott has bowled just one loose ball in this entire spell. What he has bowled are some very threatening balls. He's been able to seam the ball away on this occasion, he's angled it in.

No surprise to see him strike early in helpful conditions

  4. Five-wicket haul for Toby Roland-Jonespublished at 17:12 British Summer Time 8 September

    Middx v Derbys 268-9

Toby Roland-Jones takes five wickets in an innings for the 34th time in his career as Ben Aitchison edges behind.

It brings Derbyshire first-class debutant Rory Haydon to the middle. By the way, there's one in the Middlesex team too - but Sebastian Morgan is still waiting for his first wicket.

  5. No hat-trick for Jamie Porterpublished at 17:12 British Summer Time 8 September

    Essex v Durham 291-8

Sam Conners manages to leave the ball alone outside off stump, with Michael Pepper taking a diving stop to his right.

Durham's hopes of multiple batting points are in tatters. They'd probably be delighted with two the way things are going.

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:10 British Summer Time 8 September

    Potts b Porter 0 - Essex v Durham 291-8

Another beauty from Jamie Porter ousts Matty Potts - a ball he'd have loved to have bowled, jagging one back, beating the bat and clipping the top of middle and off.

This'll be a hat-trick ball for Porter, spread across two overs...

    Sam Conners will face it.

  7. wicket

WICKET Haines c Albert b Abbott 8published at 17:09 British Summer Time 8 September

    Sussex 17-1 v Hants 226

A much deserved scalp for Kyle Abbott, who has been nigh on irresistible in this spell.

He gets a ball to shape in and nip away from Tom Haines, who is half forward and edging to second slip.

    Oli Carter is next.

    Can he Get Carter?

  8. 'Durham middle order have done nothing'published at 17:08 British Summer Time 8 September

    Essex v Durham 291-7

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Well this Durham middle order have done nothing today.

  9. Postpublished at 17:07 British Summer Time 8 September

    Worcs 158-8 v Notts

Full and straight first up from Josh Tongue as Gareth Roderick defends down to mid off.

He tries to deflect the next ball through the on side but is picked up by Ben Slater at mid wicket.

Another ball deflected and stopped at square leg.

Ben Allison will face Dillon Pennington from the New Road End.

  10. wicket

WICKET Bracey c Holland 69published at 82.3 overs

    Leics v Glos 328-5

The partnership is broken as James Bracey drives loosely at a ball from Ian Holland that is a comfortable catch at second slip for Stevie Eskinazi.

Bracey put on 146 with Graeme van Buuren, who is 79 not out and has been joined now by Jack Taylor.

Leicestershire need one more wicket for their second bowling point - remember, 21 points from this game would definitely see them promoted.

  11. Postpublished at 17:07 British Summer Time 8 September

    Essex v Durham 291-7

Back-to-back boundaries from Graham Clark, the first from a short ball from Shane Snater, the second a lovely crack through the covers, has taken Durham within nine runs of the second batting point which is the absolute minimum they would have wanted from the session.

  12. Play resumes at New Roadpublished at 17:05 British Summer Time 8 September

    Worcs 158-8 v Notts

Three deliveries left in the over from Josh Tongue, which was interrupted by rain.

24 overs to bowl tonight after hat - if conditions allow.

Gareth Roderick to face on 43 not out with Ben Allison at the other end on one.

  13. Postpublished at 81.5 overs

    Leics v Glos 328-4

There is rain in the area according to the BBC commentators. Let's hope we don't get an interruption with only about an hour's play left.

Logan van Beek's line is awry and Graeme van Buuren cracks it away square for four. He is very strong in that area and is now 79 not out.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:04 British Summer Time 8 September

    Raine lbw b Porter 0 - Essex v Durham 283-7

Simon Harmer and Jamie PorterImage source, Rex Features

A three-ball duck for Ben Raine and a double-wicket maiden for Jamie Porter.

Raine goes back in his crease to one for Porter but can't jab the bat down in time and is pinned infront.

Momentum is all with the hosts at present.

With 11 overs left in the day, they'll want this done tonight.

Matty Potts joins Graham Clark who has 15 from 40 balls.

  15. Postpublished at 17:03 British Summer Time 8 September

    Sussex 13-0 v Hants 226

Just a single off Keith Barker's latest over, nudged to fine leg by Tom Haines.

16 overs left tonight and batting continues to look like hard graft.

  16. Postpublished at 17:02 British Summer Time 8 September

    Surrey 246 v Warwickshire 59-4

Ed Barnard is the new man and it has taken him just five balls to outscore Will Young, who has faced 32 deliveries.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 17:01 British Summer Time 8 September

    McKinney b Porter 121 - Essex v Durham 283-6

Wonderful ball from Jamie Porter ends a wonderful innings from Ben McKinney.

Porter shapes the new ball back and manages to beat the 20-year-old's defence before clattering off-stump.

228 balls, 18 fours and two sixes for McKinney, his third century of the year. Special talent.

His side are in a spot of bother though, they'll have been looking at 400+ earlier, now they have a battle on their hands with Essex getting a good grip now, and with a second bowling point.

  18. Play resumes shortly at New Roadpublished at 17:00 British Summer Time 8 September

    Worcs 158-8 v Notts

Conditions permitting - always get that in first.

Play will resume at 5:05pm with 24.3 overs left before stumps.

  19. 'Lawes is on a bit of a roll'published at 16:59 British Summer Time 8 September

    Surrey 246 v Warwickshire 47-4

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

    Tom LawesImage source, Rex Features

It's really good bowling from Tom Lawes, just getting this ball to go very, very late. A cracking length as well.

He's on a bit of a roll here. He sort of in one of those purple patches where every time he's letting the ball go you feel as though he's going to take a wicket.

Now Warwickshire are in a spot of bother with Rob Yates, Alex Davies, Sam Hain and Zen Malik gone.

Surrey will want to make the most of this now. There's still a lot of cricket to be played today.

  20. Postpublished at 16:59 British Summer Time 8 September

    Sussex 12-0 v Hants 226

Better line from Keith Barker - and this time Daniel Hughes has to defend into the off side.

Just one run off the over as Hughes flicks the last ball off his pads.

Another drive and a miss from Hughes off Kyle Abbott who has done everything bar find the edge in a waspish spell to date.

The fifth ball is a touch fuller and pushed down the ground for four.
