  1. wicket

WICKET Fortuin c&b Carsonpublished at 15:13 British Summer Time 8 September

    Sussex v Hants 156-6

Off spinner Jack Carson comes into the attack with a slip and a short leg in for Bjorn Fortuin.

Out! Tossed up and lofted straight back to the bowler as Fortuin tries to drive down the ground.

Good catch from Carson, moving sharply to his right in his follow through.

    James Fuller to bat next.

  2. Postpublished at 15:13 British Summer Time 8 September

    Surrey 220-8 v Warwickshire

Matt Fisher has settled in now, moving onto 13* and adding 32 with Ryan Patel, who has 51* from 55 balls.

Another 30 and the leaders will have a batting bonus point.

  3. Career best for Asa Tribepublished at 15:10 British Summer Time 8 September

    Northants v Glamorgan 229-5

Four more runs to Asa Tribe, sweeping leg spinner Calvin Harrison square to move to 119.

This is his highest first class score to date, eclipsing his previous best of 107 - which he made in June against Leicestershire at Grace Road.

  4. Postpublished at 15:07 British Summer Time 8 September

    Sussex v Hants 153-5

Jaydev Unadkat is straight through Bjorn Fortuin but the ball misses bat, pad and stumps to end an eventful maiden over.

Sean Hunt bowls full, seaming the ball away from Ben Brown, who leaves the ball outside off stump.

Brown gets a single off a leg-side delivery and Fortuin keeps the strike with a single pushed into cover.

  5. 'McKinney's not put a foot wrong'published at 15:05 British Summer Time 8 September

    Essex v Durham 226-3

    Dick Davies
    BBC Essex

That brings up Ben McKinney's 100 and a very good one it's been.

    I don't think he's put a foot wrong.

  6. 100 runs

for Ben McKinneypublished at 15:04 British Summer Time 8 September

    Essex v Durham 226-3

A glorious century for 20-year-old Ben McKinney - already his fourth in first class cricket.

It'll be a sweet one too as he brings it up with a colossal six over long-off off Simon Harmer, who had celebrated his dismissal off a bump ball a few minutes ago.

That's his second maximum, to go with 17 boundaries.

He's done what skipper Alex Lees couldn't and got out of the 90s and into three figures.

He's already some player, but just how far can he go?

  7. 50 runs

for Ryan Patelpublished at 15:03 British Summer Time 8 September

    Surrey 213-8 v Warwickshire

    Ryan PatelImage source, Rex Features

50 from 54 balls with eight fours and an incredible useful knock for Surrey from Ryan Patel.

He, with the support of Matt Fisher, have hauled Surrey towards a batting bonus point which looked a little unlikely half an hour ago.

  8. rain stops play

Rain stops play at New Roadpublished at 15:02 British Summer Time 8 September

    Worcs 158-8 v Notts

We had hoped to resume by about now after a shower prompted an early tea.

But we have another passing shower and more covers are coming on to the square.

More news as we get it.

  9. wicket

WICKET Madsen lbw Roland-Jones 25published at 15:02 British Summer Time 8 September

    Middx v Derbys 177-6

This has been one heck of a spell by Toby Roland-Jones.

He has his fourth wicket as he trikes Wayne Madsen on the rear pad - no doubt there.

Derbyshire were 124-1 at one stage, but now they are in urgent need of a stabilising partnership.

  10. Postpublished at 14:59 British Summer Time 8 September

    Northants v Glamorgan 219-5

Four more runs to Asa Tribe, who glances a leg side ball fine from Northants captain Luke Procter.

That shot brings up a 50 partnership for the sixth wicket with Chris Cooke off 91 balls.

  11. 200 up for Gloucestershirepublished at 54.5 overs

    Leics v Glos 200-4

Graeme van Buuren nudges Logan van Beek to mid-wicket and scampers through for a single as the Gloucestershire total reaches 200. A lot of work still to do for the visitors, though.

  12. Hampshire battle to 150published at 14:57 British Summer Time 8 September

    Sussex v Hants 150-5

Close! Short from Sean Hunt and Bjorn Fortuin is totally squared up with a leading edge past the slips for four.

He was trying to tap that into the leg side.

    That's the Hampshire 150 in 50.1 overs.

  13. Postpublished at 14:56 British Summer Time 8 September

    Essex v Durham 212-3

Ben McKinney shows great timing to drill Matt Critchley back down the ground to long-on for his 16th four, to go with a solitary six.

He has 89* at the end of the over with Colin Ackermann on 4* from 10 deliveries.

  14. Postpublished at 14:54 British Summer Time 8 September

    Sussex v Hants 146-5

Shot! Bjorn Fortuin punches the ball through the off side on the back foot for four runs.

Frustration for Sean Hunt who pushes the ball across the bat for a play and miss to end the over.

Jaydev Unadkat bowls from the Sea End and gets Ben Brown playing and missing with an attempted pull shot.

Awkward. Some balls have taken off and a few have really stuck in the surface today.

  15. Postpublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 8 September

    Surrey 208-8 v Warwickshire

Matthew Fisher is in the firing line for Surrey.

He manages to negotiate 11 dot balls before an absolute pearler from Nathan Gilchrist almost cuts him in half, somehow missing both the outside edge and off stump on the way through to Alex Davies.

He showed glimpses of this potential at Kent in spells, without the consistency, but Bears fans will be very happy with what they've seen today so far.

Fisher does eventually get off the mark with a single into the off-side and finishes the over with a flick to the rope at fine leg to move to five.

Handy support act for Ryan Patel, this.

  16. Tea at Tauntonpublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 8 September

    Somerset 155-3 v Yorkshire

They are taking an early tea at Taunton where the players have been off the field since rain arrived at the County Ground.

Black skies were in marked contrast to the weather at most of the grounds today, and fingers are crossed that there might be more play later.

James Rew is 54 not out, having put on 117 with Tom Kohler-Cadmore, who was caught at slip off Jordan Thompson for 76.

  17. Postpublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 8 September

    Essex v Durham 204-3

Lovely cover drive from Colin Ackermann off spinner Matt Critchley races away to the rope to bring up the Durham 200.

Essex celebrate at the start of the next over from Simon Harmer, as the bowler flops to his right to take a return catch off Ben McKinney, who is on 83, but it is a very obvious bump ball, which the batter and umpires confirm, so the back-slapping has to stop.

    Not a great look, that...

  18. Postpublished at 52 overs

    Leics v Glos 197-4

We're seeing it all from Josh Hull today.

A beamer flies over the head of James Bracey and that is another no-ball and earns him a ticking off from the umpire.

The next one is a yorker, which he has produced at regular intervals during this innings, keeping the batters on their toes.

  19. Postpublished at 14:46 British Summer Time 8 September

    Sussex v Hants 141-5

Tom Haines looks in a bit of discomfort after fielding the ball and wringing his hands.

    He will continue.

Ben Brown plays Fynn Hudson-Prentice into the on side.

He'll keep the strike with a single nudged into the off side and he now has 40.

  20. Postpublished at 14:44 British Summer Time 8 September

    Surrey 200-8 v Warwickshire

Ryan Patel is playing with plenty of freedom now, perhaps feeling the weight of expectation to get a bonus point, at least, as the wickets tumble around him.

His seventh and eighth fours have taken him into the 40s as better than a run a ball and the 200 is up - 50 more needed for a bonus point which might prove so precious later in the month.
