That could happen twice this year...

I don't believe this, it is way outside off stump and it takes the edge. This is a nightmare of a start for India. It is was outside off stump and Sai Sudharsan wants to let it go but catches the edge.

'Nightmare start' for India as Woakes takes two wickets in first over

And another!!! Chris Woakes is on a hat-trick!!!

Sai Sudharsan attempts to pull his bat away from one from one angled into from Chris Woakes but the ball ends up clipping the bat and Harry Brooks takes the catch at third slip.

Anon, are you watching? Where are you? Let's be having you.

Even when Joe Root drops them he catches them. The man can do no wrong.

Terrific delivery from Woakes and that angle is what prompted Yashasvi Jaiswal to play the way he did but it pitched and straightened enough to produce the leading edge.

  12. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 0.4 overs

    Jaiswal c Root b Woakes 0 (Ind 0-0)

Yashasvi Jaiswal is on his way!

A beauty of a delivery from Chris Woakes, round the wicket, which forces the India left-hander to play at it and a leading edge flies to Joe Root in the slips.

Root initially drops it, but then gathers it at the second attempt.

England's eighth, ninth and 10th wickets have yielded more than double the runs of India's in this series - England averaging 23.27 per wicket for the last three and India 10.05.

  14. Ind 0-0published at 12:46 British Summer Time 26 July

Right, Chris Woakes has the new ball in hand. He'll kick things off in this little spell before luncheon.

    Three slips in place

Not sure about that, Mr Anon.

England have got five-and-a-bit sessions to bowl a weary India out here on a wearing pitch. Personally, I think we're looking at an innings victory.

Keep an eye on Joe Root. He's just hurt the little finger on his right hand in slip-catching practice.

Still not convinced this is in the bag as a win. England have smacked all of India's bowlers about, but I'm not sure England have the bowling attack to clean it up quickly and safely.

In the last 10 years, India have bowled an average of 85 overs in their first bowling innings, the second lowest of all teams (South Africa 79). They haven't been kept out in the field this long in England since their 163.4 over stint at Southampton in 2014, pictured.

The next 15 minutes is part of this young Indian side's learning curve. It will be difficult and uncomfortable conditions to bat in and perhaps they would have faced this in domestic matches but facing such situations in international cricket is part of the learning curve.

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 157.1 overs

Carse c Siraj b Jadeja 47 (Eng 669 all out)

A big heave to square leg from Brydon Carse off Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Siraj pouches the catch.

Siraj had, seemingly, been in conversation with someone in the crowd because he had to suddenly switch his focus to take the catch on the rope.

Ever the showman, Siraj pirouettes to the crowd in celebration.

    England 669 all out.
