Summary

  1. Ind 96-2published at 36 overs

It continues to be slow going. A single off Chris Woakes' 11th over.

No pictures of Matthew Henry yet but we've had a picture of 'Michael van Gerwen' sent in by an anonymous person at Old Trafford.

And he's been joined by a few of his colleagues...

Liam Dawson wheels away from round the wicket. Diligent control of line and length as you would expect from the experienced left-arm spinner.

This pitch has been really good because it has offered everyone something and every now and then it misbehaves but in the afternoon it has been flat. But it only takes one wicket.

  6. Ind 95-2published at 34 overs

Chris Woakes is sharing a few jokes with Ben Stokes at mid-off.

England think the way to nip out Shubman Gill is to target a fuller length but the India skipper has been equal to everything so far.

There’s a bald man in a green Michael van Gerwen shirt in the party stand. You can probably work the rest out for yourself.

  8. Ind 94-2published at 33 overs

Liam Dawson is trying to create a bit of theatre out in the middle with his body language. Oohs, ahhs and hands on head. Shubman Gill blocks out for a maiden.

Shubman Gill has struggled with the nip-backer in his Test career. He averages 20.33 against these deliveries, compared to 35.23 when the ball is seaming away from him. In this series this has also been the case, averaging 26.0 against England's seaming in deliveries and 40.66 when the ball has deviated away from him.

  10. Ind 94-2published at 32 overs

Chris Woakes finds a bit of movement away with his final two deliveries but KL Rahul's judgment is sound and he keeps his bat well way from it.

  11. ouch!

    Ind 94-2published at 31.3 overs

Chris Woakes bangs it in short and he clocks Shubman Gill on the elbow after the India captain plays a hook shot way, way too early.

  12. Ind 93-2published at 31 overs

Liam Dawson, then. Shirt untucked, grassy stains on his knees and sporting sunglasses. Like the cool kid in the year above you at school.

A bit of bounce from the left-arm spinner's fifth ball which he pushes through and KL Rahul almost inside edges it on to his stumps.

Unless, Ben Stokes can bowl, this is heading steadfast to a draw. No chance we get 10 (or even nine) wickets on this track before play ends tomorrow.

  14. Ind 93-2published at 30 overs

Chris Woakes finds a hint of swing with his second delivery after tea but KL Rahul watches it all the way under his nose and punches it square for a couple.

A few balls later and Rahul unfurls a classical drive which Ben Stokes chases all the way to the boundary before flicking the ball back to prevent it going for four.

Old Trafford breaks out into a beery rendition of Wonderwall.

Right, England's players are out on the field at Old Trafford.

Chris Woakes is pacing up to his mark.

KL Rahul is on strike and he has just taken middle stump as his guard.

A solid consolidating session from India. Having lost the two early wickets just prior to lunch, WinViz was giving a 2% chance of India eeking out a draw from their situation. They now go into tea with a 9% WinViz backing of salvaging a draw in this Test match.
