Shubman Gill has moved past 650 runs in this Test series and is in the top 10 for most runs by a visiting player in a series in England.

But there is still some way to go to Don Bradman's 974.

  6. Ind 61-2published at 18 overs

Hold on, I'm only seeing one seat being fixed here.

Although I suppose diligent Old Trafford employees may have already fixed the rest.

Just a KL Rahul single through point from Liam Dawson's over.

It is so important for India that someone shows character when you've lost two wickets so early, and it's even better when it's the captain of this young Indian side that can lead the charge, then it'll be tremendous effort.

'beautiful stroke' - Gill sends back-to-back Archer deliveries away for four

For the second time in the innings, Shubman Gill gets fours from consecutive deliveries.

He times Jofra Archer beautifully through the covers, then upper cuts while doing a little leap, sending the ball down to the ropes at third.

Archer responds with an inevitable bouncer, which Gill ducks.

Liam Dawson takes the ball for the first time in this innings, replacing Brydon Carse.

Shubman Gill works his first ball out past mid-wicket for two, then runs a single into the covers from the following delivery to bring up India's 50.

That's the 50 partnership too, of course, after India found themselves 0-2 in the first over of the innings.

    Rahul 17, Gill 28

Jofra Archer returns, switching ends to replace Chris Woakes.

KL Rahul's two in the covers is the only scoring shot of the over as we go into drinks.

India have survived the first hour after lunch without losing a wicket, adding 46 runs in 12 overs.

It's taken four Test matches. But it feels England as a team have found some synergy. They have played some great cricket in this match.

The plan against KL Rahul is to bowl fuller and ask him to drive but perhaps on the fourth or fifth stump line and move the ball away while making him reach for it.

Now it's KL Rahul scoring runs down the ground.

He places Chris Woakes' first ball through mid-off and gets four.

The England seamer follows up with five dot balls.

Shubman Gill is making sure his front foot does not come across, which is what happened earlier when facing Archer during a couple of lbw shouts.

England are trying to aim for his pads which has been the method of dismissal earlier in this series. But Gill is aware of this as well and if the delivery is slightly full, he will dispatch them.

    Consecutive fours for Shubman Gill!

He drives Brydon Carse's third and fourth balls through long-off and long-on, timing the ball well.

    • Headingley: 147 & 8
    • Edgbaston: 269 & 161
    • Lord's: 16 & 6
