Chloe Tryon didn't offer a shot, she goes for a seven-ball duck. Some concerned faces on the South Africa balcony.

I don't think there is any particular doubt about that one.

  4. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 13.3 overs

Tryon lbw Ecclestone 0 (SA 33-6)

Sophie Ecclestone strikes. South Africa are in tatters.

Chloe Tryon shoulders arms to a delivery from the England left-arm spinner but the ball goes on with the arm and is struck on the pads right in front of the stump.

    A complete misjudgement from Tryon.

The Cricketer journalist Nick Friend on X: If you're happy to send that upstairs, there is no reason why Wolvaardt's lbw shouldn't have been reviewed yesterday - and rectified with a single replay. No idea if the decision's right, but you're either reviewing stuff or you're not.

Really rubbish, that. The review footage didn't even present a relevant angle for the inside edge, and if there are any question marks over whether it carried (?!?), then you have to ask what the square leg umpire is watching.

Tim - the laws are clear. Even when DRS is not being used, on-field umpires can refer to the third umpire. The real question is whether there was enough clear evidence to overturn the original decision...

This is not how I thought this innings would go but England are going to win this Test and they're going to do it today.

  11. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 11.3 overs

De Klerk run out 0 (Jones) (SA 31-5)

Marizanne Kapp dabbed a delivery from Sophie Ecclestone to backward point and set off for a single. However, Danni Wyatt-Hodge swooped and threw to Amy Jones who broke the stumps on the turn.

The TV replays show that Nadine de Klerk is well short of her ground.

England think they have run out Nadine de Klerk here after a smart piece of work by Amy Jones. We're going upstairs.

X: Ultimately the strange 'review' decision won't affect the outcome, but you have to question the use of technology for a standalone incident.

Banana Brooks: Bell and Filer excellent: maturing before our eyes.

There was no evidence from what we saw that there was an inside edge. I suspect there was because of the reaction but there was no evidence because there is no DRS.

So you cannot review. I don't know what's gone on there.

  16. SA 31-4published at 11 overs

Back to the controversial dismissal of Annerie Dercksen. It's starting to feel like an error in the process somewhere. Very baffling, either way.

Another brilliant delivery from Lauren Bell. It pitches, nips back and hits the top of off stump.

Sune Luus tried to cover it but it nipped back too much. Bell is on fire.

  19. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 10.2 overs

    Luus b Bell 1 (SA 31-4)

    No question about this one.

Sune Luus is bowled by a full delivery from Lauren Bell which nips back sharply.

It stays low and flies into the base of Luus' stumps to leave Bell and England smelling victory here.

There was never a question, no way can they ever have questioned whether that carried to Tammy Beaumont because she took it at chest height.

    I've never seen a more cleanly-taken catch.
