How is that out? The catch was never in doubt. You cannot give that out without UltraEdge.

  2. SA 31-3published at 10 overs

    The plot thickens.

Apparently Tammy Beaumont shouted words to the effect of "you have to be joking" when the decision was given not out.

Meanwhile, the South Africa coach has walked down the boundary's edge to speak to someone.

Something happened for the umpires to get together to ask whether the catch was taken. But it wasn't originally given out.

The umpire never raised her finger. It can't have been a DRS call because there is no DRS.

The replays were not conclusive either way on whether there was an inside edge, but England seemed confident in their appeal.

I suspect South Africa might be a little bit miffed with this one.

    Dercksen c Beaumont b Bell 9 (SA 22-3)

Wow. This is a little bizarre.

The fourth umpire has advised the standing umpires to give this out. Tammy Beaumont has taken a very clean catch so not sure what the review is for.

No DRS, a reminder no DRS.

  7. Umpire reviewpublished at 8.4 overs

Hmmm, no DRS so this is a bit curious.

Annerie Dercksen appears to have bat padded one from Lauren Bell to Tammy Beaumont at bad pad.

England celebrate as if they have taken a wicket. It's given not out, but the umpires have decided they want to look at something.

That's a great delivery and it probably would have carried to slip on day one but on day three it's bounced a foot short.

  9. Eng 22-2published at 8.3 overs

Woosh. A beauty from Lauren Bell which climbs and jags off a length away from Annerie Dercksen's defensive prod.

The next ball Bell draws the edge of Dercksen's bat but the ball does not carry and flies through the slips.

The way these two have bowled, they have got the early breakthrough, the key wicket of Laura Wolvaardt and they have asked questions of the batters.

Annerie Dercksen doesn't like facing Lauren Filer. She's smiling but I reckon she'll be having nightmares about facing her for weeks after this match.

  12. SA 17-2published at 8 overs

Lauren Filer is dangling the carrot to Annerie Dercksen at the start of her third over, and the South Africa batter cannot resist hanging her bat out to one outside off stump. England wicketkeeper Amy Jones thinks she's heard something, but quickly pipes down.

Filer follows it up with some short-pitched bowling and rattles Dercksen's bat handle with a delivery which climbs into her.

It's been exciting today - the loss of early wickets, Heather Knight rebuilding for England, and then early South Africa wickets. We've had it all.

  14. SA 17-2published at 7 overs

Annerie Dercksen chases a wide one from Lauren Bell, but she's in control of the shot as she dabs her fourth ball through the vacant third region for four.

Sune Luus was a limpet in the first innings for South Africa, making 56 off 148 balls. She'll be aiming to hang around for as long as possible.

Luus see off the final four balls off Lauren Filer's over without scoring.

There's no problems with the weather today and that should be the case for the rest of the evening. The ground looks a spectacle at the moment.

Refreshed and replenished after the tea break, England's players are heading out in the field. Suth Africa batters Annerie Dercksen and Sune Luus follow shortly after.

Australia hopeful Sam Konstas became the youngest man to score a half-century in the Big Bash League as Sydney Thunder beat Adelaide Strikers by two wickets.

Konstas, who is 19 years and 76 days old, overtakes Jason Sangha, who held the record at 19 years and 104 days.

Konstas, who was making his debut in the competition, also set the record of Thunder's fastest half-century at 20 balls.

The New South Wales batter, who was out for 56 off 27 balls, was in consideration for Australia's Test squad against India, but they opted for Nathan McSweeney instead.

Chasing 183, Thunder were 149-7 and needed 34 from the final two overs, but Daniel Sams smashed Lloyd Pope's penultimate over for 31, including three sixes and three fours.

Jamie Overton, who earlier made an unbeaten 45 in Strikers' 182-8, took a wicket with the first ball of the final over but Thunder scrambled over the line with two balls to spare.

At this point, South Africa probably need to put the target out of their minds and just focus on building a strong partnership at the top of the order.

Marizanne Kapp is going to be a key batter as she normally is.

    Thanks, Sam.

Given South Africa's lower order it's not beyond the realms of impossibility that England could get on a roll on and take eight wickets in the evening session.
