Oooooh India's slip cordon are convinced Jasprit Bumrah has two in two. They think Chris Woakes has got an edge on this.

Shubman Gill goes for the review.

He's some bowler. He can make things happen, Jasprit Bumrah. But what a knock by Joe Root.

That's a terrific delivery. Quick and fast.

That knock has put England in a good position, though. If you get 350 you're in the game big time.

The cheers as Joe Root’s middle stump thudded into the floor tells you there are plenty of India fans at HQ today.

Gone! In his previous over, Jasprit Bumrah uprooted Ben Stokes' off stump. This time, he's demolished Joe Root's middle stump. It nipped back beautifully.

England have lost both of their set batters in the opening 25 minutes on day two.

  6. Eng 271-5published at 87 overs

That over had a little bit of everything.

Jamie Smith bookended the over with a couple of crisp fours through point, was dropped on five by KL Rahul, and has his outside edge well beaten by a lovely delivery from Mohammed Siraj.

That was not a difficult one for a second slip, KL Rahul knows it.

    That could be expensive.

'Not a difficult one!' - KL Rahul drops Smith on five at second slip

Oh dear. KL Rahul, at second slip, has dropped Jamie Smith on five. Given the run-scoring form he's been in, that could prove costly.

  9. Eng 265-5published at 86.1 overs

Lovely shot. Jamie Smith cracks Mohammed Siraj through point for four.

With that boundary, he becomes the joint-fastest wicketkeeper to reach 1,000 Test runs, getting there in his 21st innings.

Smith and Root to guide us to 400…… is the heat getting to me already?

  11. Eng 261-5published at 86 overs

After sensibly leaving the first three deliveries he faces, including one that got a bit of extra bounce and was fielded by wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel at head height, Jamie Smith plays one off his pads to get off the mark with a single.

That's unfortunate, Ben Stokes was just looking good. He was playing freely. That's a blow for England.

That's Lord's for you, that slope comes into play and if you're world class you've got that up your sleeve. You don't get those at Edgbaston.

That's gone straight through, he's bowled him.

Ben Stokes has been bowled by Jasprit Bumrah after playing a magnificent cut shot.

That's a very fine ball indeed.

India won't care about that missed opportunity in the previous over!

One ball after being cut away for four, Jasprit Bumrah has flattened Ben Stokes' off stump to send the England captain on his way for 44.

    Out walks Jamie Smith.

  15. Eng 256-4published at 85 overs

Hands on heads all round from India as they miss a golden opportunity to run out Ben Stokes.

After facing five dot balls, he tried to sneak a single off the final ball of Mohammed Siraj's over. An off-balance Yashasvi Jaiswal takes aim at the stumps and had he hit, Stokes would have been out by several metres.

The England captain had slowed to a jog in anticipation of his exit.

This Test match has so far had a distinctly retro feel about it. 3 runs an over and Joe Root head and shoulders above the rest of the batting line-up.

So after all that talk, there were no overnight nerves from Joe Root.

He advanced to three figures off the first delivery of the day and then settled in to dot out the remainder of Jasprit Bumrah's over.

Rishabh Pant remains absent behind the stumps for India with Dhruv Jurel deputising.
