Lunchtime at New Road. And it's probably just about Warwickshire's morning.

Four wickets with the Kookaburra - two of them for the relentless OHD.

Less than at Leicester. More than at Taunton. Probably about par for the course.

  2. Lunch at Tauntonpublished at 12:34 British Summer Time 9 September

    Somerset 93-2 v Surrey

A good morning for Somerset having won the toss at Taunton.

They lost Lewis Goldsworthy to the second ball of the match before Tom Lammonby fell to Jordan Clark's first ball of the day.

But Archie Vaughan has led steady progress with four boundaries.

He takes lunch 44 not out with Tom Abell on 27.

Most excitingly, Shakib Al Hasan has bowled 12 overs so they've rattled through them and sent down 34 overs in the session! That's how it's done.

  3. ouch!

Delicate one for Westleypublished at 12:34 British Summer Time 9 September

    Essex 40-1 v Notts

Tom Westley thankful for his cup after taking a Luke Fletcher delivery to his, well, delicate areas, shall we say.

He still needs a bit of time with the physio, though - the pain subsides after a while. We've all been there.

Ha! Immediate revenge for Westley who dispatches Fletcher's next delivery to the boundary for four.

  4. Lunch at Northamptonpublished at 12:32 British Summer Time 9 September

    Northants 75-5 v Derbys

Lewis McManus has a batting average north of 60 this summer and Northants need every bit of his form and experience now.

Jack Morely drops short and McManus swings through mid wicket for four to move on to six.

Saif Zaib frays a few Northants nerves, edging Zak Chappell low to Wayne Madsen at second slip. Close but didn't quite carry.

An eventful maiden over and that's lunch.

Northants won the toss, choosing to bat first and are in danger of being rolled over well short of any batting points this afternoon.

Zak Chappell bowled superbly to finish the session with 2-14.

  5. wicket

LEICESTERSHIRE ALL OUTpublished at 12:31 British Summer Time 9 September

    Leics 98 (Wright b Hill 12) v Yorks

But the fun ends as a straight one from George Hill keeps rather low on Chris Wright and scuttles into middle-and-off stumps.

98 all out. Just 24.2 overs.

Who said this Kookaburra ball wasn't good for bowlers?

Leicestershire have obviously massively overdone the grass they've left on the pitch to try and counteract the ball.

Lunch now at Grace Road. How will Yorkshire go?

  6. 50 runs

for Ben Coxpublished at 12:31 British Summer Time 9 September

    Leics 98-9 v Yorks

    Record low total? Pah!

Ben Cox has single-handedly avoided complete humiliation for Leicestershire.

He's swept and pulled George Hill for fours, either side of a charge and whack over midwicket.

Matt Fisher has then been driven off back and front foots through cover for further fours.

Cox then stepped across his stumps to paddle sweep Fisher over fine leg for six to raise his half-century in 31 balls! Great effort.

  7. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 12:29 British Summer Time 9 September

    Sussex v Glamorgan 88-4

    Has that carried? Probably.

Kiran Carlson dangles away from his body and the ball angles towards Tom Haines at second slip.

It would have been a great catch with the ball moving away from him.

  8. Postpublished at 12:26 British Summer Time 9 September

    Middlesex 116-2 v Gloucs

Leus du Plooy drives at Archie Bailey, edging just short of a diving second slip.

Not quite a chance as Cameron Bancroft appeared to be at full stretch.

Leus du Plooy plays and misses outside off stump but survives the next over.

Surrey have the money and the wealth, so they will use it and rightly so. Using the international call-up excuse is a bit rich though where they have poached a number of them (the majority are through their own pathway admittedly). Transfer window won't work unless a standard international fixture list with set dates each session exists.

  10. wicket

WICKET Sales c Donald b Chappell 23published at 12:17 British Summer Time 9 September

    Northants 66-5 v Derbys

    Northants are in tatters.

Zak Chappell replaces Andersson in the attack and gets James Sales driving outside off stump.

He plays down the wrong line and edges low to a diving Aneurin Donald at third slip. Five wickets lost in exactly 25 overs.

Lewis McManus starts at the non-striker's end as Saif Zaib takes guard to Jack Morley.

  11. Postpublished at 12:16 British Summer Time 9 September

    Middlesex 110-2 v Gloucs

    Ajeet Singh-Dale has changed ends.

Leus du Plooy is forward, pushing into the off side but can't get the ball away.

We have just the one slip now with two short mid wickets.

Du Plooy plays and misses outside off as he's stuck on the crease, driving down the wrong line.

A back foot punch through cover breaks the shackles with four runs.

Two more through cover off the back foot.

  12. WICKET Brookes lbw Hannon-Dalby 8published at 12:14 British Summer Time 9 September

    Worcestershire 67-4 v Warwickshire

    Ged Scott
    BBC Sport at Worcester

Olly Hannon-Dalby strikes with the fourth ball of his first over back as he removes his former Warwickshire team-mate Ethan Brookes.

OHD's 45th County Championship wicket of the season.

He's currently the country's leading wicket taker this season - and now needs just five more to reach 50 for the season for the third summer running.

    What a consistent performer.

New man in is home captain Brett D'Oliveira.

  13. wicket

WICKET Elgar c Hameed b Lord 7published at 12:13 British Summer Time 9 September

    Essex 17-1 v Notts

Early breakthroughs have been the order of the day - and it's no different at Chelmsford.

Dean Elgar is the man to go, caught by a smart diving catch from Haseeb Hameed at mid-on.

Huge game this for Nottinghamshire in their quest to secure Division One survival.

  14. Postpublished at 12:12 British Summer Time 9 September

    Somerset 75-2 v Surrey

Somerset getting on top in a keenly-contest first session at Taunton.

Archie Vaughan has moved nicely to 40 not out, cutting Jordan Clark backward of point for his fourth boundary.

Also a stroke copied and pasted from his old man.

  15. Postpublished at 12:12 British Summer Time 9 September

    Middlesex 104-2 v Gloucs

Archie Bailey tests Max Holden out with a superb bouncer that cuts across the Middlesex number three, who did well to keep his gloves out of the way.

Just a couple of runs from the over.

  17. Postpublished at 12:08 British Summer Time 9 September

    Middlesex 102-2 v Gloucs

Four runs to Leus du Plooy, driving Zaman Akhter to long off, taking Middlesex to 100 in the 22nd over.

Good, controlled aggression from the hosts this morning.

Akhter finds a better length thereafter and sees out the over without any more runs conceded.

  18. wicket

WICKET: Currie lbw b Thompson 2published at 12:06 British Summer Time 9 September

    Leics 59-9 v Yorks

Jordan Thompson gets in on the act now.

He nips a full one into Scott Currie and pins him in the crease.

    The carnage is almost complete.

  19. wicket

WICKET Root c Clark b Crocombe 1published at 12:05 British Summer Time 9 September

    Sussex v Glamorgan 72-4

Billy Root comes and goes in no time.

He sits on the front foot and his defensive push flies to Tom Clark at second slip.

Henry Crocombe has two wickets in two overs. He's on a roll!

  20. Postpublished at 12:05 British Summer Time 9 September

    Northants 51-4 v Derbys

Close! James Sales drives Luis Reece just over mid off to take the hosts to 50 in the 22nd over.

Derbyshire have emphatically won this session and will fancy their chances of a fifth scalp before the break at 12.30.
