Charlie Dean top-scores with 33 from 51 balls and her partnership of 48 with Em Arlott, the vast majority of them coming after the resumption, could prove vital.

England will hope so anyway. Things look that bit more positive than they did when the rain arrived, anyway.

Given the rain around, you'd hope there is a pretty quick turnaround rather than the usual half hour but, you know... cricket.

  2. Eng 133-9published at 31 overs

England scramble two off the last ball after Sarah Glenn's thick inside edge into the leg side.

A decent recovery from England in that spell after the lengthy rain delay but they've still left themselves needing to bowl brilliantly to win from here.

Fatima Sana was excellent and finishes with figures of 4-27 from six overs.

Pakistan's target is yet to be confirmed - it'll be adjusted for DLS - but we'll bring it to you as soon as we have it.

It will be tricky in the field because there is some moisture on the outfield. Every time the ball hits out there, it will not be easy to control.

You can see the fielders with towels because it is not getting any drier.

  4. Eng 131-9published at 30.5 overs

Good shot from Linsey Smith, hitting up and over the covers.

The ball is reeled in just before the boundary but they get back for three.

One ball left in the innings.

  5. Eng 127-9published at 30.3 overs

Linsey Smith comes in and hits a single before a play and miss from Sarah Glenn.

Three balls left in the England innings.

Charlie Dean goes across her stumps and tries to flick the ball behind her. A good sharp catch in the field.

    4-20 for Fatima Sana!

  7. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 30.1 overs

    Dean c Omaima b Fatima 33 (Eng 126-9)

Good catch at short fine leg.

Charlie Dean's valuable counter-attacking knock since the restart is over.

She goes across her stumps and ramps Fatima Sana but doesn't quite get the elevation to clear Omaima Sohail.

Good catch but England are nine down with five balls left in the innings.

Em Arlott is walking off as if she knows she is out. They ran straight away on the shot but there can be no blame on her there.

  9. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 30 overs

Arlott run out (Aroob) 18 (Eng 125-8)

Never a single but England felt they had to go for it anyway.

Charlie Dean hit the reverse sweep straight to the fielder at short third and Em Arlott just ran.

The throw is good, though, and Arlott is run out by a good couple of inches.

Dean keeps strike for the start of the last over.

Is this the tournament for the number eights? So many of them are coming out and playing crucial knocks.

  11. Eng 125-7published at 29.5 overs

Charlie Dean advances to Omaima Sohail, the Pakistan spinner sees her coming and drops the ball that much shorter.

But it's too wide and Dean latches onto it, cutting the ball fiercely through the in-field for four.

  12. Eng 119-7published at 29.3 overs

Full toss from Omaima Sohail and Charlie Dean hammers it leg side.

    One bounce for four.

Charlie Dean will want every run she can get. She has fought hard in this innings and Em Arlott has found the boundary a few times too.

It has been a good run from this pair.

    Rufus Bullough

Prior to the rain break, Rameen Shamim was finding 2.2° of spin. After the rain break it has fallen sharply to just 0.9°. An early indication that maybe this pitch has changed slightly after being under covers for so long.

  15. Eng 112-7published at 29 overs

Four more useful runs for England as Em Arlott helps the ball down to fine leg as Rameen Shamim strays.

Another over with 10 from it. This has been a good little spell for England.

Will this mini-recovery be enough? Given their total will likely be reduced before Pakistan begin their chase, it remains up in the air.

Impeccably timed by Em Arlott, it was not a bad ball. Omaima Sohail has been brought in to make up the overs from Diana Baig and she has done a great job.

  17. Eng 102-7published at 28 overs

Plenty of intent, some decent timing but England have to settle for four singles from the first five balls.

But Em Arlott middles the last!

Off her toes and nailed through mid-wicket for four to take England into three figures.

England have to go hard but they know that the target is going to be a reduced one. Imagine being Charlie Dean, keeping yourself in and doing the heavy lifting but ultimately the runs she scores could be for nothing.

We've not, Josh, but we absolutely should! Do I get to chalk one up today or is it only Matt given he was on for the vast majority of it?

Mike Peter is our self-appointed rain delay specialist but we've all done our fair share over the years now.
