England beat the edge on a few occasions, but the New Zealand batters didn't look too troubled as they steadily accumulated their 104 runs.

Tom Latham will have been disappointed to have missed out on a big score after looking well set, while Kane Williamson started slowly with one run from his first 20 balls - he's now moved to 26 from 57.

Ravindra has looked comfortable since arriving at the crease, taking 21 from 30 balls.

Ollie Pope and DRS again?

Hello, have England missed a chance to take another wicket before lunch?

Stokes beats Ravindra's outside edge and the ball is taken behind the stumps by a smiling Ollie Pope.

Not a hint of an appeal from the England players, but replays with the technology show that there was an edge there - no-one picked it up!

Ravindra survives and goes on to take a single into the off side to move to 21. The only run of the over, and the last run of the session.

Will England go on to rue that? They'll be gathered around the screens at the lunch break...

Stokes is struggling. Hands on head, kicking the turf. He hasn't found the right length yet and is being punished. He looks short of a gallop, which he is.

Stokes still can't get these foot holes bedded in right - more sawdust is put down at the start of the over but he collapses in his follow-through on his second ball and hits the deck - to make matters worse, the delivery is called for a no ball on height.

He follows that ball with a cracking bat-beater to Williamson, but the New Zealand veteran then smacks him for consecutive fours, a drive through the covers and a pull through mid-wicket, bringing up the home side's hundred.

Stokes kicks the turf in frustration, he's really not having a good time out there.

Someone is dressed as a huge chicken on the other side of the ground. I have no idea why.

Ravindra drops an edge just short of Joe Root in the cordon from Atkinson's first delivery, but cashes in from the next ball, pulling powerfully for four.

He drives the next ball down the ground, but it slows just short of the boundary and he has to settle for three.
