Ben Stokes has now dropped 10 catches 'under' his own captaincy. The only England players to drop more in those matches are Zak Crawley (14) and Joe Root (19).

  2. NZ 245-5published at 65 overs

Banged in from Atkinson, doesn't get up high enough and Blundell unleashes a meaty pull to send the ball away to the boundary.

The England seamer responds well, jagging one past the bat of Blundell.

  3. NZ 238-5published at 64 overs

    Powerful shot from Glenn Phillips!

But then again, he rarely does delicate.

He thrashes Bashir's first ball over the head of the cover fielder for four, but can't score off the rest of the over.

  5. NZ 234-5published at 63 overs

Lovely shot from Blundell, timing Atkinson beautifully for four runs through point.

I heard people are really holding space for the playing of that shot.

That's exactly what Tom Blundell wanted.

  6. NZ 230-5published at 62 overs

Having retained the strike, Phillips turns Bashir into the on side for another run.

Blundell follows with a single of his own, taking the run off a defensive shot.

  7. Phillips dropped on 0published at 61 overs

    NZ 228-5

Almost had the new batter too!

Glenn Phillips drive hard and he's spilled by Ben Stokes at mid-off, the ball rolling off his top hand as he dived to his left.

The New Zealand batter takes the chance to run a single.

Williamson won't reach his century on this occasion!

The New Zealand veteran falls in the 90s for the first time since 2018, cutting into the hands of Zak Crawley who takes the catch falling to his left.

It's a second wicket for the returning Gus Atkinson from only his second delivery after replacing Brydon Carse.

A little bit more bounce than Williamson expected? He appeared cramped for room.

  9. NZ 227-4published at 60 overs

First sight of spin in this session as Bashir returns in place of Woakes.

He concedes just a single from his opening over, as Williamson slides the second ball down to long-on.

The only New Zealand batter to fail to reach double figures today was Devon Conway, who fell to this brilliant return catch by Gus Atkinson...

  11. NZ 226-4published at 59 overs

Brydon Carse continues to pepper the New Zealand batters with short balls, with one slipping too high and being called a wide.

Williamson and Blundell respond positively to the bombardment, unfurling some cracking pull shots that keep finding the fielders.

Carse sends his penultimate ball fuller and Blundell edges downwards, into the crease and over the stumps - really quite close to playing on.

To compound matters the final delivery flicks off the home keeper and runs away for four leg byes.

  12. NZ 217-4published at 58 overs

Just a single from the 15th Woakes over, as Blundell knocks him into the leg side.

As a very average club bowler, I've seen "Back-down-the-Groundhog Day" more times than I care to admit.

  15. NZ 216-4published at 57 overs

Brydon Carse loves the short ball.

He glances one off the top of Williamson's helmet, then, after the resumption, makes the New Zealand batter rise on his tip toes to ride the next bumper, and finally raps him on the glove.

A few uncomfortable moments in the 90s.

No further no runs from the over, though.

  19. NZ 211-4published at 55 overs

A first run for Tom Blundell as he nudges Carse to backward square.

That's at least the second edge that hasn't carried to the slips. It's a slow pitch. Too deep? They would take their read from Pope, an inexperienced keeper.
