  1. Lunch at Sophia Gardenspublished at 13:09 British Summer Time 24 May

    Glamorgan 383 v Middlesex 20-1

Middlesex lose an early wicket in Cardiff as Sam Robson edges Timm van der Gugten to second slip and is caught by Sam Northeast for six.

But that is the only damage in a six-over mini-session for the visitors after Ryan Higgins' 5-59 helped finally bowl out Glamorgan for 383.

They added 49 to their overnight score, with Chris Cooke falling three runs short of 50 when he was lbw to Dane Paterson.

Glamorgan have Australian spinner Matthew Kuhnemann in their team for this game and it will be interesting to see him in action later.

  2. Lunch at Chester le Streetpublished at 13:08 British Summer Time 24 May

    Durham 18-2 & 277 v Somerset 172

Durham still very much on top, but they will cross with losing two wickets in the five overs faced before lunch.

Ben McKinney and Emilio Gay went in the space of three balls from Matt Henry who's taken his tally against Durham to an incredible 18 wickets in two games.

He could yet have a big say in the size of the target Somerset are ultimately set.

Mitch Killeen was the star of the show this morning as Somerset subsided from 63-3 to 172 all out.

The 20-year-old bagged five wickets on his Championship debut with a stunning performance that he'll rightly remember forever.

It might yet get even better.

  3. Lunch at Southamptonpublished at 13:08 British Summer Time 24 May

    Hants 154 v Sussex 228-5

Total dominance of this first session from Sussex who have taken a hold of his contest through John Simpson (70) and Fynn Hudson-Prentice (62) in complete control.

Resuming on 110-5 Sussex their 145-run partnership has more than doubled the total with few alarms and they go in for a feed with a 74 run lead.

It has been a slog for the Hampshire bowlers with John Turner's opening day 3-42 still standing as the best in show and more will be needed after the break if Sussex are not to get too far off the leash to be reined back.

  4. Lunch at Derbypublished at 13:06 British Summer Time 24 May

    Derbyshire 483-4 v Kent

A couple of wickets late in the session are unlikely to spread much joy in the Kent dressing room at the County Ground.

Derbyshire added 131 during the morning, with Australian Caleb Jewell still there on 210 not out - just 18 short of a career-best.

He put on 176 with Wayne Madsen, who fell to Jack leaning for exactly 100, with Matt Parkinson bowling Brooke Guest for three shortly afterwards.

A declaration at this stage is perhaps unlikely, but Madsen will now be 'running the numbers' through his mind ahead of the afternoon.

  5. Lunch at The Ovalpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 24 May

    Surrey 203-7 v Essex 217

    Sam CurranImage source, Rex

Surrey reach 200 just before the interval at The Oval as Sam Curran pushes a single off Noah Thain to mid-wicket.

It has been an enthralling morning's action with Essex fighting back well, picking up four wickets after Surrey resumed on 94-3.

Three or them were taken by Kasun Rajitha, who has figures of 4-54, but the champions have been revived by an unbroken stand of 59 between Curran (55 not out) and Jordan Clark (34).

If these two can stay together for a decent period after lunch, Surrey could yet achieve a healthy first-innings lead.

  6. Lunch at Headingleypublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 24 May

    Yorks 119-7 v Notts 228

Notts will be the happier of the two sides as they leave the field after the first session having taken five wickets at a cost of 109 runs.

Dawid Malan's rapid fire 64 may split opinion given it was more of a T20 innings than County Championship, but in matching Joe Clarke's 64 from Notts' first innings that alone should ensure that the finger of blame points elsewhere.

Notts have bowled well with Jack White, Harry Duke and George Hill all getting excellent deliveries (the last two were virtually unplayable).

Had the rest batted around Malan with greater purpose Yorks could be in a far better position.

  7. 50 partnership for Surreypublished at 57.2 overs

    Surrey 194-7 v Essex 217

Jordan Clark stands tall and flays Noah Thain through the covers for four as he and Sam Curran achieve a half-century stand from just 48 balls.

Clarks has 31 not out, made at a run a ball. He can be a dangerous customer if he's in the mood.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:52 British Summer Time 24 May

    Gay c Gregory b Henry 0 (Durham 277 & 9-2 v Somerset 172)

    Another one!

It's a fifth duck of the season for Emilio Gay as he drives stiffly at just his second ball and nicks off to Lewis Gregory at first slip.

Gregory is safe as houses and he snaffles that easy as pie.

    This is getting interesting now...

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:51 British Summer Time 24 May

    McKinney c sub b Henry 0 (Durham 277 & 9-1 v Somerset 172)

Ben McKinney last seven balls in the end as Matt Henry picks him up for a duck.

Nice moment too for Thomas Rew, who's in behind the stumps for big bro James, on his debut as he takes the catch from McKinney's uncertain prod from Henry.

  10. Postpublished at 12:49 British Summer Time 24 May

    Durham 277 & 12-0 v Somerset 172

Relief for Durham skipper Alex Lees.

He avoids a king pair (having got a first baller in the first innings) in the opening over from Matt Henry.

After five dots he steers Henry down past the slips to the fence to get going in the match with a four.

Lee's partner Ben McKinney then plays out a maiden from Josh Davey.

  11. wicket

    Madsen c Bell-Drummond b Leaning 100 (Derbys 471-3 v Kent)

Derbyshire captain Wayne Madsen reaches his 41st first-class hundred from 133 balls with a single off Matt Parkinson.

The next over sees his demise as he hoists Jack leaning's off-spin to long-on.

Madsen batted for 167 minutes, faced 134 balls and hit a six and 14 fours - adding 176 for the third wicket with Caleb Jewell.

We don't know which Test side Madsen might be qualified for, but four T20 appearances for Italy seems scant reward at international level for such an excellent career.

  12. 'The bail has disappeared'published at 12:46 British Summer Time 24 May

    Yorks 107-7 v Notts 228

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

That one looks like it has kept a little bit low and the middle stump has been knocked back.

The bail has disappeared some 10 to 12 yards behind the stumps.

    Yorkshire in major trouble here.

  13. 50 runs

for Sam Curranpublished at 12:45 British Summer Time 24 May

    Surrey 182-7 v Essex 217

Just a few minutes after his brother Ben survives a review, batting for Zimbabwe against England at Trent Bridge, Sam Curran reaches 50 off 64 balls with a single from the bowling of Noah Thain.

It's a been a high-class innings, in which he has been very severe on anything short of a length - his first of the season in the County Championship.

  14. Dream debut for Killeenpublished at 12:44 British Summer Time 24 May

Somerset 172 all out, trail Durham by 105

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Mitchell Killeen has had a County Championship debut to remember, taking 5-36 in 10 overs. And all while his dad, former Durham fast bowler Neil, was watching in the stands.

Neil served Durham for more than a decade and is now part of England's bowling set-up.

Somerset were all out in 38.4 overs for 172 and that included a final wicket partnership of 43 from Matt Henry and Migael Pretorius, who took the word agricultural to new levels.

To say they tried to 'howk' every ball into next week is not an exaggeration. Howk is a North East phrase similar to giving it some welly.

There were plenty of air shots - and a few boundaries - to brighten up an otherwise poor morning for the visitors who lost seven wickets for 99 runs.

It is cloudy and muggy in CLS. Good conditions for the bowlers. It will be interesting to see how Durham get on in their second innings. I bet Henry can't wait to get the ball in his hands.

  15. 200 runs

for Caleb Jewellpublished at 12:40 British Summer Time 24 May

    Derbys 468-2 v Kent

Having hit Matt Parkinson for six in his previous over, Caleb Jewell settles for pushing a single as he reaches 200 off 324 balls.

What a great innings it's been - and he will now presumably have hit sights set on his career-best score of 227 for Tasmania against Western Australia in February last year.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:40 British Summer Time 24 May

    Hill b Abbas 1 (Yorks 107-7 v Notts 228)

    What a ball this is.

Mo Abbas has Yorkshire seven down arrowing a perfect delivery on to middle stump, whipping in after pitching and rushing through the gate of a buckling George Hill.

  17. 100 runs

up for Worcestershirepublished at 12:40 British Summer Time 24 May

    Worcestershire 101-5 v Warwickshire 227

Worcestershire's punctured first innings brings up its three figures but, with half the team out, even getting close to the Bears total seems optimistic.

Particularly in the face of the fast-medium magic of Warwickshire's Chrises - Woakes and Rushworth - who've been superb on a much better day for bowling.

The Pears will take some comfort that they can't bowl forever. They're off now but will come back recharged after lunch no doubt.

  18. 400 up for Northantspublished at 12:35 British Summer Time 24 May

    Northants 404-8 v Glos

A fourth batting point in the bag for Northants as Lewis McManus and Calvin Harrison add to Gloucestershire's pain.

    Remember Northants were 71-4 yesterday.

  19. 200 runs

200 for Sussexpublished at 12:35 British Summer Time 24 May

    Hants 154 v Sussex 200-5

John Simpson has moved to his half century and Fynn Hudson-Prentice now has his as Sussex continue to pile the pressure on Hampshire.

There was a half appeal against Simpson for a short leg catch after Liam Dawson gets one to turn but there is no doubt it comes off the pad.

This is becoming increasingly frustrating for the hosts with the lead already 46.

  20. wicket

WICKET - Somerset 172 all outpublished at 12:33 British Summer Time 24 May

    Pretorius b Yusuf 20 (Durham 277 v Somerset 172)

Migael Pretorius cleaned up by Codi Yusuf. Somerset are done in their first innings. Trail by 105.

It was entertaining while it lasted - the final pair adding 44 off 34.
