Wow! It is a terrific piece of fielding.

Plimmer run out (Dean) 7 (NZ 21-1)

    Yep, gone!

Suzie Bates cuts Lauren Bell into the ground and calls her opening partner through.

The ball reaches Charlie Dean at backward point on the edge of the ring and she sends in a superb throw that beats the diver of Plimmer.

    In comes Amelia Kerr.

Has Georgia Plimmer been run out from the direct hit?

Charlie Dean with the throw, we'll go upstairs...

There has been signs from Sophie Devine so far, she's started well in both games.

New Zealand would love to create a platform for Sophie Devine to go berserk later on.

  7. NZ 20-0published at 5 overs

Sharp delivery from Cross, but it's another over-step so we'll get a second free hit from her bowling.

Bates dispatches it for four, dropping to a knee to slog-sweep the ball square - one bounce and over the ropes.

That ball may have just stopped a bit in the pitch. Georgia Plimmer was certainly bamboozled by it anyway.

  9. NZ 11-0published at 4 overs

Ooooh, not all that far away.

Plimmer moves to pull Bell, but then seems to hesitate in the shot and ends up dropping the ball just short of the England seamer, who just misses out on taking the return catch on the tumble.

After bowling another delivery Bell chooses to bring the physio onto the field to apply a plaster to a grazed elbow, before Plimmer picks up two turning the over's final ball down to the fine leg boundary.

Suzie Bates maybe hasn't quite got back to her best after the shoulder injury but she's still a world-class player. It just isn't quite there at the moment but it is still there and it is about how she gets back there.

Bates takes a single from the final ball of the over, driving the ball to mid-on.

The only run from a tidy over from Cross, terrible review aside.

That is a scandalously terrible review. It is truly abysmal.

    Yep, impact outside the line.

Bates took a big step down the pitch, taking her front leg outside her off stump.

It just didn't quite look right. Kate Cross was adamant though.

My hunch was just outside the line, but Amy Jones and Kate Cross seem to be indicating that it was going down the leg side.

Kate Cross thinks she's trapped Suzie Bates in front!

Nothing from umpire Rob White, and it looks like it hit outside the line, but England's bowler fancies it and we'll go upstairs.

Lauren Bell takes the ball at the other end for England.

Georgia Plimmer leans on her final delivery, guiding the ball behind square for two.

  20. NZ 5-0published at 1 over

    Ffion... please don't.

In fairness it doesn't look too heavy, so the players are hanging on for the moment.

Bates tucks Cross away through mid-wicket for the first four of the innings, before the England bowler over-steps to concede a free hit.

Bates takes a giant leap to the offside in an attempt to aggressively pull Cross to the boundary, but fails to make a connection.
