Four dots follow the boundary clearance.

But India now trail by just 16.

  2. 6 runs

    And away it goes!

Washington Sundar comes down the pitch to Joe Root and lofts him over the covers for six, like Jadeja a few overs ago he lands the ball just clear of the ropes.

India have reached 350 in all five innings so far. They are the first visiting side to have five 350 plus scores since South Africa in 2003 and the only other team that has had five consecutive 350 plus scores was India in 2002.

The ohhh Ravi Jadeja chants are getting louder as Ben Stokes’ frustrations grow.

  5. Ind 365-6published at 107 overs

Ben Stokes' seven-over post-tea spell is over - he took 1-13 from those 42 deliveries.

Brydon Carse is the man to replace him, and he concedes consecutive streaky fours from Ravindra Jadeja.

The India all-rounder inside edges past his stumps through fine leg then gets another knick wide of the slip cordon.

The word from England was that they were hopeful Shoaib Bashir would bowl in this session but there has been no sign of him yet. He’s still off the field after taking the blow to his left hand.

  7. Ind 356-6published at 106 overs

    • Ravindra Jadeja - average 36 from 82 Tests
    • Washington Sundar - average 43.50 from 10 Tests

So they're not exactly tail-enders, Jonathan.

Jadeja reaches the boundary, guiding the ball past a scrambling Ollie Pope at backward point for four.

If Archer is supposed to be the missing X factor bowler, why hasn’t he been used against these tailenders?

  9. Ind 352-6published at 105 overs

    India trail by 35 runs

Look, I'm going to give up predicting Ben Stokes will come off, maybe he'll bowl until the heat death of the sun.

Washington Sundar strikes his third ball through the covers for four, bringing up his side's 350 and moving to 10 from 32 balls himself.

That's the only scoring shot of the over, though.

You are kind of thinking as an England batter now about Bumrah looming in the horizon with the odd one keeping low and odd one hitting the crack as the pitch wears down.

Jadeja hits Root back down the ground for six

    Well, that's woken everyone up.

Ravindra Jadeja advances and lofts Joe Root's last delivery over mid-off for six, with the ball just clearing the boundary sponge.

Only the second boundary since Nitish Kumar Reddy's dismissal in the 95th over, the other being the four that brought up Jadeja's half-century.

Chris Woakes looks to have been given the nod from Ben Stokes.

England need to bowl more deliveries at the stumps. It's just not threatening enough at the moment.

I genuinely think Ben Stokes is England's best bowler, I genuinely do. You have to be special to hit Nitish Reddy in the gloves on a pitch like this. And he's got timely dismissals as well.

  15. Ind 340-6published at 103 overs

    No, Stokes will bowl another.

He sends down a maiden too, with Washington Sundar failing to score off him.

  16. Ind 340-6published at 102 overs

Joe Root certain does his bit to improve the over-rate - he absolutely rattles through another six balls.

Two more singles from this one too.

Ravindra Jadeja - while batting at number six or lower - has scored over 850 Test runs in England, with six fifties and one hundred to his name.

No other visiting player batting at six or lower has scored as many runs or as many 50+ scores in England since his debut.

  18. Ind 338-6published at 101 overs

    India trail by 49 runs

Ben Stokes again, perhaps for the last over of this spell - this is the sixth over he's sent down since tea, having bowled two going into the interval.

Washington and Jadeja take him for a single apiece - and India now trail by less than 50.

  19. Ind 336-2published at 100 overs

And just the one run from this over too, as Washington sends a Joe Root delivery deep into the covers.

As great a ball as that was to remove Reddy, it doesn’t bode well for England’s top order when Bumrah gets the new ball in hand.
