    There's Ravindra Jadeja's half-century!

He brings it up nicely, driving Joe Root's fourth delivery with the ball beating the diving fielder at mid-off on its way to the boundary.

Jadeja twirls his bat in celebration - that's a third consecutive fifty for the all-rounder after his two at Edgbaston.

It comes up for 87 balls, and he doesn't score off balls 88 and 89.

Where's Tongue when you need him? He'd mop up these last wickets.

    Chris from Kent

Yet another good period with the new ball wasted by England's continued lack of discipline when it comes to bowling a tight line. Bumrah, Siraj et al can consistently bowl on a good length in the channel, so why can't our bowlers?

    Jonny, Ulverston

Why is Stokes bowling Root with a relatively new ball, I don’t get it. Whether Bashir is available or not, give Jofra a couple of overs.

  7. Ind 326-6published at 95 overs

Out walks Washington Sundar at number eight, a very useful bat to have this far down the order.

He doesn't score from the last three balls of Stokes' over, giving the England captain a wicket maiden.

Ex-England captain on Test Match Special

That's a seriously good ball from Ben Stokes. He had to play at it, back of the length and it's kissed the surface, Bumnrah-esque in terms of getting more out of the surface than anyone else. Nitish Kumar Reddy's played well for his 30 but England again, just when that partnership has been building, they strike.

England need to strike, game starting to drift. This is when the top captains excel. Can't just let the game drift, need to find a spark.

I get the frustration with over rates, but it's the hottest week of the year. I'd rather see 80 overs of quality play than squeeze out an extra 10 and everyone be dead on their feet.

    Thanks Elizabeth.

India's session, England will need to tuck into their tea-time refreshments and come back with a fair bit more inspiration than they were able to summon there.

  20. Tea - India 316-5published at 91 overs

    India trail by 71 runs

Oh dear, oh dear. Someone needs to have a word with Ravindra Jadeja. He goes for a single, is sent back, Ollie Pope underarms the ball into the stumps, and misses. What a silly wicket that would have been.

Still, he survives (again) and after the early wicket of KL Rahul, India make it to tea without further loss.

    They trail by 71 runs.
