    Surrey v Notts 7-0

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

If Notts won the toss I'm sure that they would have opted to bowl first but if there's an opportunity I guess to go out there and set the tone - at this time of the year the wicket is not going to get any better - so if Notts can get some important first innings runs it might serve them well as we mover later on in the contest.

  3. Delayed start at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 10:44 BST 15 September

    Durham v Worcs

It doesn't look too bad at CLS at the moment weather wise but a heavy rain shower around an hour ago has left the outfield wet and delayed the toss and the start.

The umpires are inspecting but it is not looking summer cricket weather at Old Trafford with the covers on, the wind howling and the ground still very wet from overnight rain.

It's a pretty gloomy scene at Hove where Sussex are set to take on Yorkshire, which neither side yet safe from relegation.

There will be no play before the players take an early lunch at 12:00 and a further inspection will then be made by the umpires.

"Very windy in Hove and concern that if the covers come off they won’t be able to get them back on again," reports BBC Sussex commentator Adrian Harms.

For much of this season it has seemed to be about when Surrey will win their fourth successive title rather than if.

But, from out of the shadows have come Nottinghamshire to put that in serious doubt and by a quirk of the fixture list here we are with a chance of the home side to all but put it to bed or for the visitors to give them a nasty wake-up call.

While the leaders were hit by a rain-affected draw against Warwickshire last week, Nottinghamshire were putting their supporters through the wringer.

At 83-6 when chasing 136 to beat Worcestershire, the Outlaws appeared to be ending their own hopes before late runs from Lyndon James, Liam Patterson-White and Josh Tongue saw them fall over the line.

In Dom Sibley and Haseeb Hameed we have the division's two top run scorers on show as well - and it is Hameed who will be putting the pads on after Surrey won the toss and opted to bowl.

The good news for us it is has set-up four days of nail-biting County Cricket, so long as the pesky weather doesn't interfere.

  16. Crunch game at Derby in promotion battlepublished at 10:16 BST 15 September

Derbyshire v Glamorgan - toss delayed, dangerous winds

Glamorgan coach Richard Dawson recently signed a three-year contract extension

It was 20 years ago that Glamorgan were relegated from Division One of the County Championship, a season in which they won only one out of 16 games.

That is four fewer than they have managed so far this season and just one more victory will send the Welsh county back to the top flight - but they are without Ben Kellaway because of a calf injury.

The equation is simple, if they can beat third-placed Derbyshire and earn at least 19 points in doing so the second promotion spot is theirs - but that is a big 'if' with Mickey Arthur's home side not yet ready to give up on their own ambitions of going up despite a 27 points deficit.

There are eight days left in the season and Glamorgan coach Richard Dawson is taking them one by one, saying following last week's draw with Northants: "We keep on going, the same messages of doing the basics well and hopefully we'll get the results we need."

Logan Van Beek, Rishi Patel, Chris Wright and Lewis Hill were all smiles after Leicestershire's promotion

They have already done the most important bit by sealing promotion and the chance to play in Division One for the first time since 2003.

Now, though, Leicestershire want the icing on the cake as they look to clinch the Division Two title - and a maximum 24 points win over bottom club Kent, despite the absence of injured Ben Mike, would be enough to do it with a game to spare.

"We wanted these players to challenge themselves, and be the best version of themselves. It is our jobs to open their minds to how good they can be," head coach Alfonso Thomas said following last week's draw with Gloucestershire which secured promotion.

"We are turning up to beat Kent, we are determined to go and get ourselves a trophy."

  18. 'Blow, winds, and crack your cheeks'published at 10:09 BST 15 September

'How's the weather looking' is one of the most pertinent questions this morning from a cricket perspective. There was some fabulous action last week, but most of the games were affected by rain, resulting in eight of them being drawn.

Today's BBC Weather, external summary is as follows: "A windy day for England & Wales with inland gusts 40-50mph, coastal gusts 60-70mph with a risk of local disruption. Lengthy spells of rain and a few bright spells for Scotland, Northern Ireland, north England and Wales. Sunny spells and heavy showers elsewhere."
