    Surrey v Notts 30-1

Gus Atkinson's sixth over of the morning produces four runs and Freddie McCann is off the mark.

Just the odd ball is moving off this green pitch.

  3. Waiting game in CLSpublished at 11:19 BST 15 September

Durham v Worcestershire - start delayed

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Lots of heavy showers are forecast today, so much so I am not sure how much play we will see in CLS, if any.

The umpires have been out a couple of times to inspect and we did have bright sunshine around about 11:00am, but the covers are now back on and the next band of rain appears to be on the way.

It's frustrating given Durham's need for points to try and get out of the relegation zone, while Worcestershire are now effectively needing snookers and miracles to survive.

  4. Early lunch at Tauntonpublished at 11:18 BST 15 September

    Somerset v Hants

The bad news is that an early lunch is being taken at Taunton with an inspection planned for 12:30.

The good news is the sun is shining and the strip set to be used is being 'aired' with covers over the rest of the square.

Hopefully there should be some action in the early part of the afternoon.

  5. Postpublished at 11:17 BST 15 September

    Surrey v Notts 26-1

A tidy enough first over from Tom Lawes with one run from it and one which races past the edge of Freddie McCann's bat.

McCann replies to that with a wafty drive outside off stump which thuds into the gloves of Ben Foakes but without a touch.

  6. 'Good bowling from Atkinson'published at 11:15 BST 15 September

    Surrey v Notts 25-1

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

It was a good catch from Ollie Pope low down. Dom Sibley will be delighted having dropped Haseeb Hameed on seven.

Good bowling from Gus Atkinson and Surrey will be pleased to see the back of Hameed who has had a stellar season.

A successful over for Gus Atkinson.

It's a low catch away to his left which Ollie Pope pouched.

No great movement with that delivery, just a good line to Haseeb Hameed.

Tom Lawes is replacing Dan Worrall in the home attack.

  8. 'Hameed just hung his bat out'published at 11:12 BST 15 September

    Surrey v Notts 25-1

    Roland Butcher
Former England batter on BBC Radio Surrey

Haseeb Hameed really didn't go back, he didn't go forward, he just really played from the crease and hung the bat out there.

    Hameed c Pope b Atkinson 9 (Surrey v Notts 25-1)

This one is taken in the slips.

Gus Atkinson takes the edge of Haseeb Hameed's bat and Ollie Pope takes a tumbling catch at second slip.

The missed chance off the Notts skipper costs the home side only two further runs.

Freddie McCann is the next man in.

Leicestershire v Kent - start delayed

The Leicestershire flag flying above Grace Road has been shredded by the wind, as you can see from the pic above.

At ground level, however, the umpires have had a look and decided to call for an early lunch at mid-day.

    Surrey v Notts 24-0

Ben Slater drives Dan Worrall down the ground for three more runs.

Five from the over and just that one chance, put down by Dom Sibley in the slips, for Surrey so far.

    Surrey v Notts 19-0

A couple of runs off that Gus Atkinson over which includes him going past the edge of Haseeb Hameed's bat for the second time this morning.

A few people in The Oval crowd are in short sleeves today.

There's a little bit of cloud around but it's mainly blue sky and sunshine with a stiffish breeze.

Certainly nothing like the high winds we've got elsewhere which are keeping the players off the field because of safety reasons.

  13. 'Blow that Clark is out but Curran makes impact'published at 11:02 BST 15 September

    Surrey v Notts 17-0

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

It's terrific to get a game like this, the one time these two meet. It is a strong wind today, the flag poles are rocking.

It's blow for Surrey that Jordan Clark is ill but Tom Curran comes in and whenever he's come into the Championship side over the last couple of years he's made a mighty impact.

  14. Postpublished at 10:59 BST 15 September

    Surrey v Notts 17-0

Ben Slater is given room outside off stump by Dan Worrall and he flays it away to the backward-point boundary.

The Notts man then takes a cheeky quick single up to mid on to show he's thinking all the time.

Worrall then squares-up Haseeb Hameed with a couple which take the leading edge of the bat but there is no danger for the visiting skipper.

  15. 'No excuse for Sibley spilling that'published at 10:58 BST 15 September

    Surrey v Notts 17-0

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

Haseeb Hameed took one or two steps towards the dressing room, he thought that was a routine catch for Dom Sibley at first slip and it really should have been.

No excuse for spilling that and down it went.

  16. Delayed start at Tauntonpublished at 10:57 BST 15 September

    Somerset v Hants

The sun is shining at Taunton but the covers remain on and the sopper is trundling busily around a wet outfield.

Somerset's live blog gloomily suggests we are "in for a long delay" and there are no signs of action from anyone but the groundstaff.

  17. John Jameson RIPpublished at 10:55 BST 15 September

Warwickshire v Essex - start delayed

Like so many other grounds, there has been no toss at Edgbaston because of the high winds.

When play does get under way, Warwickshire players will be wearing black armbands in memory of former opening bat John Jameson, who dies at the weekend aged 84.

He scored almost 19,000 first-class runs during his career, including 33 centuries and 90 fifties, and was a member of their 1972 Championship-winning team.

Two years later he was part of a world record stand of 465 with Rohan Kanhai during a game against Gloucestershire - Jameson's share was 240 not out.

He played four Tests and three one-day internationals for England between 1971 and 1975 and later served as a first-class umpire.

    Surrey v Notts 11-0

A maiden from Gus Atkinson in which he almost nabs the first wicket of the day.

The ball died on Dom Sibley at first slip but he will have expected to take it.

Surrey will hope that doesn't cost them too much with Haseeb Hameed on seven.

  19. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 10:52 BST 15 September

    Surrey v Notts 11-0

Gus Atkinson gets one to balloon off the edge of Haseeb Hameed's bat and it just about carries to Dom Sibley but the man at first slip can't hold onto it.

Hameed tries a booming cut off the next ball and only makes contract with fresh air.

  20. Postpublished at 10:51 BST 15 September

    Surrey v Notts 11-0

Ben Slater is up and running as he works Dan Worrall to the square-leg fence for four runs - a lovely piece of timing.

It took him 11 balls to get his first runs of the morning.

Worrall goes full and wide of the off stump by Slater isn't tempted but switches to around the wicket and Slater just about keeps it out - good thinking from the Surrey bowler and it almost brings a wicket.
