Jessica: Right idea. I was thinking two overs before, get Smith in, we are 130 odd in front. Not worth the risk for Stokes. Can always come back out at 11!

Ben Stokes has retired hurt as he is struggling with cramp.

Perhaps, some pickle juice might help solve that issue.

It is popular with a number of athletes, including world number one men's tennis player Jannik Sinner.

BBC Sport's Ask Me Anything team has taken a look at the benefits for athletes in this piece here.

It looks like it was cramp but Ben Stokes is walking off. 66 runs to his name but he is not visibly hobbling anymore. Let's hope this is something temporary rather than a permanent niggle.

  8. Ben Stokes retires on 66published at 17:09 British Summer Time 25 July

Ah, hold on - Ben Stokes is walking off the field.

The England captain has evidently decided there's no point risking this injury any further, given his side's position in the game.

Jamie Smith walks out to the middle.

A bit of an apology from Joe Root to Ben Stokes after that quick single. Not exactly sympathetic of Stokes' cramps there by Root.

  10. Eng 491-4published at 116 overs

Ah, Ravindra Jadeja is changing ends to replace Washington Sundar.

Joe Root takes a quick single to cover and Stokes looks rather uncomfortable again having to hurry through.

Jadeja then gets one to spit off the pitch at Stokes and the ball balloons safely towards mid-wicket off the top of the bat.

Stokes finishes the over with a gently-ran single to mid-on.

There's been a lot of stoppage this session and part of it is because Ben Stokes requires treatment.

If Ben Stokes nails one of this while swinging this hard he might clear The Point.

Just a couple of overs for Ravindra Jadeja, with Mohammed Siraj now taking over.

It's an over of short stuff to start, and Ben Stokes responds by swinging hard.

The England skipper cracks one through square but misses a couple more, while he runs a couple of singles at the end of the over rather awkwardly - he's definitely struggling with something.

We have seen 14 scores of over 100 in the series so far. The most hundreds ever seen in a series played in England is 15, when India toured in 1990. With a potential six innings remaining in the series, this is likely to be eclipsed very soon.

  15. Eng 482-4published at 114 overs

    Lead by 124 runs

Ben Stokes ends Washington Sundar's 15th over with a four.

Bit of a drag-down from the India spinner and Stokes dispatches it to the ropes behind square.

If India don't buck their ideas up, Root will be passing Tendulkar's milestone before the end of this match.

Ben Stokes' three fours today is the fewest boundaries he's hit in the first 50 runs. It's his seventh 50 against India with one century as well.

Four and flat on his face!

Ben Stokes gets low to sweep Ravindra Jadeja through mid-wicket but his horizontal bat swings round and clips his boot, leading to the England captain falling forward on his chest.

He peers up from the stubbly grass of the wicket as the ball races away to the boundary.

Surely Ben Stokes man of the match thus far. Turning into a different incarnation of Andrew Flintoff...?
