No early movement for England in these conditions is a concern, considering what Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep did with the second new ball in the sun!

    Dale in Cardiff

Chris Woakes has just lost a little bit of pace and isn't quite as effective anymore.

Ollie Pope ducks for cover at backward point. He has no idea where the ball is. Fortunately for him, it's nowhere in his orbit.

Yashasvi Jaiswal has picked the gap and been rewarded with a boundary.

Brydon Carse gets one to kick up at KL Rahul. He'll be relieved he swayed out of the way of that one.

England scored 407 today, matching the 407 all out in their first innings against Australia in 2005 on this very ground. Will we get another epic finish like in 2005?

This is a potentially difficult hour for India, they can only make a mess of it. They probably won't be able to put up many runs but they could certainly lose a few wickets.

It's been a rollercoaster, no one expected this.

  11. Ind 2-0published at 1 over

    India lead by 182 runs

I really enjoy the 'e' shape of the floodlights at Edgbaston. They're right up there with the rose floodlights at Headingley.

KL Rahul also gets off the mark with a single. He'll be desperate to improve on his first innings knock (two) after seeing his opening partner and captain Shubman Gill score runs.

The conditions are overcast, the floodlights are switching on and it's a new ball so we should see some movement. India need to be careful.

Floodlights on. It's as good a time as any for bowling in the match.

  14. Ind 1-0published at 0.1 overs

Yashasvi Jaiswal is off the mark with a single.

England have three slips in place.

Jamie Smith has swapped his batting gloves and pads for his wicketkeeping gear. England are getting into position.

Chris Woakes looks like he's going to bowl the first over at an increasingly overcast Edgbaston.

    India lead by 180 runs.

England will be thinking positively now. They've got an hour of play to try and take wickets with a ball that is seaming around.

India have got to be equally as positive as Ben Stokes and England will be. They are in a good situation but they were last week in Leeds as well. It's the psychology of it all.

Someone got in touch earlier to describe this game as heading for an anticlimactic draw. I think it's been quite an entertaining three days.

Tim, however, is sulking a little because I've had all of the exciting sessions.

This has been a tremendous spell. Mohammed Siraj has been brilliant. He's stepped up and finished the job.

It's all over. Jamie Smith has rushed off but Mohammed Siraj has burst through England. What a day's cricket we've had.

A sixth duck. England are all out for 407, trailing by 180 runs.

Mohammed Siraj bowls Shoaib Bashir to finish with 6-70 from 19.3 overs. Jamie Smith, unbeaten on 184, rushes off to find his wicketkeeping pads.

England have slumped from 387-5 to 407-10 but let's not forget that brilliant partnership between Harry Brook and Smith.
