Good first hour for Sri Lanka, taking those three wickets, but it's been pretty smooth sailing for England since Joe Root's dismissal.

20-minute break, and then another extended session to come this evening! Get yourselves a cuppa, folks.

The 50 partnership comes up between Brook and Smith, and with the spinner whizzing through his over, we'll have time for one more before tea.

The bowlers must be desperate for this break.

Three overs behind, they better get a move on. But it's been a good session for Sri Lanka, they have fought hard again.

Jamie Smith has a monster 80.42 average against left-arm spin in his first-class career, comfortably his highest for any bowling type.

First signs of uneven bounce, the sort that we saw yesterday from Shoaib Bashir and the pea-roller that got Dinesh Chandimal.

He's looked in complete control since he came to the middle, really.

I think Jayasuriya could do with a bit more of a run up. He needs a bit more momentum and it looks like he lacks a bit of bounce.

A productive over for England, they're now just 68 behind.

The first maiden of the innings!

The honour goes to left-arm spinner Prabath Jayasuriya.

Sri Lanka are just starting to build a little bit of pressure on Harry Brook.

They've got seven fielders on the off side and two on the leg, sticking to a simple but effective plan of bowling outside off stump.

And, right on cue, Brook drives Rathnayake for four straight down the ground. A nice battle is bubbling.

It's been a weird afternoon, really.

England haven't exactly 'Bazball-ed', but they haven't really had to because of Sri Lanka's plans - which have delivered four wickets and a relative amount of control, but then it's rarely felt like England have been under pressure. And that's shown in the fact there haven't been any maidens today - but you'd still probably think both teams are pretty happy with their position.
