Two wickets in successive overs for Matt Parkinson.

Ethan Brookes tries to sweep but only succeeds in dragging it into his stumps, barely with enough force to dislodge the bail.

Brookes falls to his knees in his frantic attempt to stop it hitting the stumps - but to no avail.

  3. Postpublished at 15:31 British Summer Time 23 August

    Hants v Essex 154-2

"That is a mistake," says BBC Radio Solent's Kevan James of Tom Westley's wicket.

"I got the feeling he was confident he was going to pump that down the ground and in the end he got too close to the bounce of the ball and couldn't get the elevation."

That wicket brought the end of a previously thought unbreakable 144-run partnership between Westley and Dean Elgar.

  4. Division Two updatepublished at 15:30 British Summer Time 23 August

Anuj Dal has just reached 50 from 88 balls with a boundary off Ned Leonard and Derbyshire are 348-6 after 93 overs, a lead of 180 over Glamorgan.

Gloucestershire are regrouping following the loss of Cameron Bancroft and are 82-1 after 21 overs in reply to Leicestershire's 402 all out.

  5. 50 runs

for Jonny Bairstowpublished at 15:26 British Summer Time 23 August

    Yorks 187-3 v Sussex 189

Just two balls after Will Luxton's 50, Jonny Bairstow reaches his half-century off 67 balls with two off Sean Hunt, steered to backward point.

It's been a classy innings so far by the England man, which is exactly what you'd expect.

  6. 50 runs

for Will Luxtonpublished at 15:24 British Summer Time 23 August

    Yorks 185-3 v Sussex 189

Spinner Jack Carson starts his third over for Sussex.

He drops short and Will Luxton pulls - he doesn't time it perfectly but two is enough to carry him to 50 from 101 balls.

  7. wicket

WICKET: Montgomery c Lees b Wagner 8published at 15:23 British Summer Time 23 August

    Durham 531-7 declared v Notts 116-5

Another batter falls for the leg side trap.

Have Notts never watched Neil Wagner play cricket?

Have they not seen any New Zealand tests of the last 15 years?

    All too easy for Durham.

Good catch by Alex Lees, but Wagner has 4-58 without even having to bend his back that much thus far.

Hameed's dismissal did open the floodgates, 4-20 lost since then.

  8. wicket

WICKET Westley c&b Dawson 64published at 15:23 British Summer Time 23 August

    Hants v Essex 151-2

    A WICKET!

Tom Westley has absolutely lashed it the ball straight back at Liam Dawson and it has stuck. Even with a helmet on, you could feel Westley's eyes rolling into the back of his head.

That came 37 runs after Dawson was last given a chance to catch Westley out.

    Enter England released Jordan Cox.

  9. wicket

    WICKET D'Oliveira c Ogborne b Parkinson 97published at 15:21 British Summer Time 23 August

    Worcs 371-6 v Kent 171

Brett D'Oliveira has batted superbly this afternoon but he isn't going to be rewarded with the century his innings deserves.

He goes after a wide one from Matt Parkinson and immediately drops the bat on the floor as he realises he's given it away - carving a catch to Alfie Ogborne at point.

The Worcestershire skipper only faced 90 balls and hit 15 fours, putting on 85 for the sixth wicket with Ethan Brookes.

A fourth half-century of the summer for Ben Foakes.

His England career may well now be behind him with the success of his Surrey teammate Jamie Smith but he remains a class act.

He drives Luke Wells for his eighth four and he goes to fifty in 94 balls.

Sam Robson, 44, and Max Holden, 14, have got the home side moving well again after the loss of Mark Stoneman and they bring the hundred up.

Northants need a reply here or it could be a long afternoon.

  13. Postpublished at 15:15 British Summer Time 23 August

It is Bon Jovi time at Utilita Bowl.

"What?" you cry reasonably at your screen.

Well, we are 52 overs into the day's play with 52 overs left to play - with 104 overs scheduled today due to yesterday's washout.

Dean Elgar (78) and Tom Westley (63) continue to be untroubled. They could be here for the next 52 overs.

  14. 350 up for Worcestershirepublished at 15:14 British Summer Time 23 August

    Worcs 351-5 v Kent 171

Ethan Brookes pushes Alfie Ogborne square and two runs takes the Worcestershire total past 350.

Brookes then pushes to mid-on where a Matt Parkinson misfield gifts him a boundary and he moves to 46 not out.

What's going on over there? A group of crowd members are gathered round a tree and looking up into the branches. Hope there isn't a cat stuck up there.

  15. wicket

WICKET: Clarke c Parkinson b Wagner 3published at 15:12 British Summer Time 23 August

    Durham 531-7 declared v Notts 108-4

    Neil Wagner again.

He has bowled nearly 11 of the near 27 overs Durham have bowled thus far in this innings, the lion heart not slowing down in his late 30s.

Proving far more successful in his Durham end of season first-class cameo so far than in a similar role for Somerset this time last season already, 3-50 he has.

  16. 250 runs

up for Surreypublished at 15:12 British Summer Time 23 August

Ben Foakes is now 42 and Rory Burns a season's best 127 as here we have two experienced heads calmly going about their business very smoothly on a sunny afternoon in SE11.

Lancashire's youngsters are staring down the barrel of a huge deficit.

    Glos 68-1 v Leics 402

He scored 60 to push Leicestershire's total past 400 earlier in the day and now Tom Scriven has their first wicket.

Cameron Bancroft tries to drive but the ball isn't there for the shot and Ajinkya Rahane takes a good slip catch by his left shoulder.

    Yorks 167-3 v Sussex 189
