  1. Postpublished at 14:08 British Summer Time 23 August

    Worcs 271-4 v Kent 171

Kent need to find a way to stem the flow of runs at New Road.

A long half volley by Akeem Jordan is squirted away for four by Brett D'Oliveira, who uppercuts the next one down to third man for another.

He may have felt that in his left wrist, though. Let's hope not as this has been a very entertaining innings so far. The lead is exactly 100.

  2. Postpublished at 14:06 British Summer Time 23 August

    Yorks 111-3 v Sussex 189

With Jonny Bairstow at the crease following the lunch interval, Sussex now have their senior seamers, Ollie Robinson and Jaydev Unadkat, operating in tandem again at Scarborough.

A sensible move by Sussex skipper John Simpson.

  3. Division Two updatepublished at 14:04 British Summer Time 23 August

Fours in successive overs for David Lloyd as Derbyshire progress to 261-5 in the 71st over against Glamorgan, a lead of 94.

They are back out now after an extended morning in Bristol with Gloucestershire beginning their reply to Leicestershire's 402 all out. Cameron Bancroft and Ben Charlesworth are the opening pair.

  4. wicket

WICKET: Stoneman b Sanderson 36published at 14:02 British Summer Time 23 August

    Middx 59-1 v Northants 207

Much-needed breakthrough for Northants and it's Ben Sanderson who's got it.

Round the wicket to the left-handed Mark Stoneman, he gets one to straighten enough to beat the edge as Stoneman looks to turn to leg and takes out off stump.

  5. Back under way at Utilitapublished at 13:59 British Summer Time 23 August

    Hants v Essex 85-1

Dean Elgar quickly back into his groove with an early drive down the ground after lunch.

He's up to 47 now and has plenty more in his thoughts, I'm sure.

  6. wicket

WICKET: Lammonby c OHD b Rushworth 44published at 13:59 British Summer Time 23 August

    Warwicks 337 v Somerset 65-5

The entire top five for Somerset have now gone, all their men picked solely to bat have been dismissed inside 20 overs.

Tom Lammonby falls to a short delivery again, Chris Rushworth the surprise short ball enforcer this time.

"It was almost a sucker ball." described former Iceland international and BBC third voice commentator Kit Harris.

"He is walking off like a man condemned to the gallows."

For a positive Somerset twist, do not forget James Rew and Kasey Aldridge, who comes in at seven, both scored hundreds at Old Trafford last year, albeit against a few declaration bowlers come the end of that match...

Two runs to Brett D'Oliveira ends the latest Matt Parkinson over and carries him to 50 from just 46 balls faced.

It's his third of the season and Worcestershire lead by 92.

  8. Postpublished at 13:56 British Summer Time 23 August

    Yorks 108-3 Sussex 189

    Heeeeeere's Jonny.

Jonny Bairstow makes a shining start to his first Championship innings of the season with four runs through mid-on from the first ball of his innings, bowled by Fynn Hudson-Prentice.

Two dots complete the over interrupted by lunch after the downfall of James Wharton.

  9. Back at Edgbaston after the extended first sessionpublished at 13:55 British Summer Time 23 August

    Warwicks 337 v Somerset 65-4

The two southpaws, Tom Lammonby and James Rew have a lot of work to do after the other four members of Somerset's top six fell for just 10 between them before lunch on day two.

The off-spin of England Lions' opening bat Rob Yates starts, gifting Somerset eight runs, far more than they managed off any seam bowler's over pre-lunch!

  10. Batting point for Worcestershirepublished at 13:52 British Summer Time 23 August

    Worcs 253-4 v Kent 171

Brett D'Oliveira certainly does seem to 'fancy it' today.

He gives himself room and cuts Matt Parkinson for four before adding another boundary to end the over with a square drive, push his side's total past 250 and bring up a 50 stand with Adam Hose.

D'Oliveira has 46 not out from 41 balls.

  11. Back on up Northpublished at 13:47 British Summer Time 23 August

    Durham 531-7 declared v Notts 29-1

Back out there after the luncheon interval in the northern most Championship venue.

Neil Wagner has not bowled anything too short to either batter in his first three overs, how early may he change tact if these two stick around this afternoon?

Freddie McCann is lucky to get away with one second ball after the interval, Ollie Robinson scampers around well to save any run, but fourth ball of the over he manages four through the vacant third slip.

McCann's best shot yet is a nice clip to midwicket for two, all left-armer to left-hander so far after lunch.

  12. Postpublished at 13:44 British Summer Time 23 August

    Worcs 238-4 v Kent 171

Back in business at New Road and spinner Matt Parkinson hustles through the first over after lunch. Just a single from it for home skipper Brett D'Oliveira, who is 32 not out.

  14. Cooke catch provides Derby highlightpublished at 13:36 British Summer Time 23 August

    Derbys 247-5 v Glamorgan 168

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Derbyshire maintained their grip on the game with a 79-run lead at lunch despite the efforts of Glamorgan off-spinner Ben Kellaway, who claimed his first Championship wickets, taking 3-36.

The overnight pair of Harry Came and Wayne Madsen looked fairly untroubled against Glamorgan’s seamers despite another tight spell from Timm van der Gugten, taking their stand to 130 on a bright and breezy morning.

But Kellaway clung on to a ferocious return catch to dismiss Came for a solid 84, while Madsen reached 70 before mistiming an attempt to hit Kellaway over the top.

That brought the Welsh pair of David Lloyd and Aneurin Donald together, with Donald hitting a rapid cameo of 28 before keeper Chris Cooke brilliantly anticipated a paddle shot and took the catch in a leg-slip position.

Glamorgan could have claimed another on the stroke of the interval when Mason Crane’s direct hit looked to have found Anuj Dal short of his ground, but it was close enough for him to get the benefit of the doubt.

  15. Somerset opening problems 'unresolved'published at 13:34 British Summer Time 23 August

    Warwicks 337 v Somerset 57-4 - lunch

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Somerset's chronic opening batting problems remain unresolved.

The latest combination to be tried - Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Andy Umeed - were back in the pavilion in the space of the first two overs, without a run on the board.

Two more Toms would join them before lunch, Abell seemingly unlucky with his lbw decision, Banton well taken by Will Rhodes at slip, leaving the fourth Tom, Lammonby, to carry the Somerset innings almost single-handedly, with a typically elegant 39 not out.

    Most definitely Warwickshire's morning.

  17. Lunch at Bristolpublished at 13:26 British Summer Time 23 August

    Gloucestershire v Leicestershire 402

Tom Scriven comes down the track to Ollie Price and holes out at long-on where Ben Charlesworth takes the catch.

That's the end of Leicestershire's first innings - and lunch - and Scriven's 60 off 84 balls has helped the visitors secure a fourth batting point.

They began the day on 291-7 and Scriven and Liam Trevaskis (50) shared a stand of 76, while Zaman Akhter finished with 3-110 for Gloucestershire.

We have an extended session at Bristol with Leicestershire nine wickets down.

Tom Scriven edges Ollie Price for four and then slaps the ball over cover later in the over to reach his eighth first-class 50 from 78 balls.

Zaman Akhter will bowl the next one.

  19. Lunch at Utilita Bowlpublished at 13:19 British Summer Time 23 August

Essex's Tom Westley (32) and Dean Elgar (43) have been (more or less) flawless after being stuck in.

The duo have put on 74 without much of a care, having battled through a high-quality new ball spell from Kyle Abbott and Mo Abbas - who accounted for Robin Das.

Westley was dropped by Liam Dawson on the cusp of the interval, but otherwise it has been as perfect a session as possible from the experienced pair.

  20. Lunch at Scarboroughpublished at 13:15 British Summer Time 23 August

    Yorkshire 104-3 v Sussex 189

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

A wicket on the stroke of lunch has changed the complexion of the game after James Wharton and Will Luxton had added 73 for the third wicket against some ragged Sussex bowling.

The pair had taken Yorkshire from 31-2 but Wharton couldn’t resist a wide half volley from Fynn Hudson Prentice and was brilliantly caught by a diving Tom Alsop at first slip.

Jonny Bairstow is next in for Yorkshire and Sussex will need to bowl with better discipline if this game isn’t going to run away from them.
