  1. Pak 138-6published at 34 overs

Everyone is OK to carry on and Brydon Carse switches to round the wicket to end the over.

He cramps Aamer Jamal for room but the batter gets enough on it for a single to fine leg.

Time for maybe two or three more overs before stumps.

  2. Pak 137-6published at 33.4 overs

No surprise that Pakistan want to take time out of the game and the physio is quickly onto the field when Aamer Jamal is hit on the glove by a Brydon Carse bouncer.

The bowler uses the opportunity to have a drink, brought out to him by a certain Ben Stokes. Who then jogs off.

The England skipper looked pretty comfortable running there. Will he be back for the second Test?

The atmosphere in the Pakistan dressing room will be flatter than this pitch... and that is quite an achievement.

It's just the two opening bowlers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah left to come on for Pakistan today.

Abrar Ahmed is in the hospital today and I think it's unlikely he's going to rock up tomorrow, unless these two put on a huge effort. Otherwise, there is no point.

  5. Pak 136-6published at 33 overs

Into the final 15 minutes of the day and this Pakistan pair are going to carry on playing some shots.

Aamer Jamal sweeps firmly for four before Salman Ali Agha's effort hangs in the air for a while before landing well short of the fielder at long leg.

Anyone else think “Brydon Carse” sounds like an American golfer? The kind who pops up & wins the Open even though you’ve never heard of him but it turns out he’s in the world's top 10.

Brydon Carse has been impressive in this second innings and continue to run in hard as England try to finish things off tonight.

Salman Ali Agha is not giving up without a fight, though, as he expertly runs the last ball through the vacant gully region for four.

Re. Jack. I think so. Taking into account the conditions and the first innings by Pakistan and it being on foreign soil! To get 20 wickets (19) on this surface is something to be proud of and then you have got the batting performance… enough said.

  9. Pak 120-6published at 31 overs

    Jamal 14, Salman 26

Tidy enough over from Shoaib Bashir but he can't find the wicket to make amends for that drop.

He nearly gets a helping hand from Salman Ali Agha, who charges the last ball and gets himself in a bit of trouble before adjusting well enough at the last minute to avoid disaster.

I think the Pope/Hartley match earlier this year in Hyderabad is the best recent victory. They won despite being 190 runs down on first innings away in India!

We have seen a few catches dropped by Pakistan and the worst of them was the one by Saud Shakeel at long-on. It was an awful miss, but that one from Shoaib Bashir is not far off.

That should be wicket number seven for England.

Short ball from Brydon Carse, top-edged pull shot from Aamer Jamal but Shoaib Bashir juggles and, ultimately, spills it at fine leg.

Might that be it for the tourists' hopes of winning in four days?

A ‘greatest victory’ ought to be one where the winning team has done more to win it than the losing team has done to lose. Pakistan have thrown this away. I agree with the win against India in 2022.

It feels like England have not taken a wicket for a very long time now. Four or five overs?

  15. Pak 108-6published at 29 overs

It's a double bowling change for England with Shoaib Bashir replacing Jack Leach.

Three singles from it, steady enough start for the young off-spinner.

  16. Pak 106-6published at 28 overs

Brydon Carse is back and gets through a decent over.

Aamer Jamal shows he is no slouch with the bat, though, getting three from the last ball with a smart back-foot punch through mid-wicket.

Just over half an hour to go, England need three more wickets to win tonight. Will they do it?

Winning in four days after Pakistan spent almost the first two days batting would surely make it the best victory under McCullum. It defies logic.

Pakistan are in trouble and Salman Ali Agha has decided he is going to try and hit them out of it.

England have no one out on the sweep so Salman twice goes for it and gets four each time.

In between, he uses his feet and pops the ball back over Jack Leach's head for another boundary.

In reply to Jack. I think the win against India in 2022 would top it.

    Tony, Putney

Good shout, Tony. Chasing 378 to win against that India bowling attack was an incredible effort.

What a collapse. It does open a window into Pakistan's dressing room and you can see the absolute devastation in terms of confidence.
