Wicket maiden from Brydon Carse, who given how gruelling the first two days of his Test debut were, must really be enjoying this.

There is roughly an hour and 20 minutes left in the day. Do England have what it takes to finish this off?

Do Pakistan have the fight left to stop them?

This is one great wicket because we know Muhammad Rizwan is a fighter. But his fight has come to an end here.

England with a chance to finish this off today!

    Bowled 'im!

Brydon Carse rips through Muhammad Rizwan's defences and makes a mess of his stumps.

Just back of a length, it nips in as Rizwan played back and the ball skidded through to hit middle.

England could wrap this one up tonight at this rate. Remarkable.

  6. Pak 59-4published at 18 overs

We've seen England score 800-plus, Joe Root become their leading Test run-scorer of all-time and Harry Brook score a triple century but I feel like you might be asking for a bit much there, Ross.

Saud Shakeel adds four to the Pakistan total with a lovely late cut.

The only milestone left to tick off for England in this Test is captain Pope finally successfully reviewing a decision.

Plenty to look forward to in the next few hours on all fronts then, Matt.

Saud Shakeel and Muhammad Rizwan take three singles from Brydon Carse's over.

Things seemed to have calmed down a bit now and the challenge for England is going to be making things happen now the ball is getting that bit older/ softer.

Waiting eagerly as my wife is going into labour for the birth of our first child. Got the cricket on in the background and delighted to see Woakesy has got the ball doing bits.

For the first time since the 1911-12 Ashes series, England have had two bowlers take a wicket with their first ball in the same innings.

We've just been shown a graphic that shows Pakistan's team average in their second innings of Tests in the lowest of any nation since 2023.

They've not done anything to improve that so far today.

Maiden over from Chris Woakes on his return to the attack.

It might be a problem for England that we have an extended lunch break tomorrow (one hour for Friday prayers). You'd think they'd start earlier rather than add on the time later when the light will close in. England could be pushing for victory then.

Five dot balls from Brydon Carse before he pushes the last ball that bit fuller.

Muhammad Rizwan is waiting for it and drives through the covers for three.

Dave Ross: However this game goes can we finally just accept that Stokes and McCullum know what they're doing? The rebuild since they took over is nothing short of remarkable. Anything is possible. The keyboard warriors on day one have gone very quiet.

Definite change of plans by the English seamers in the second innings here.

In the first 11 overs of the first innings, they bowled just 19% deliveries on the stump line, that has increased to 40% this innings.

  18. Pak 49-4published at 14 overs

Excellent fielding from Shoaib Bashir in the covers to deny Saud Shakeel a boundary.

It was a lovely drive from the left-hander but he has nothing to show for it.

Decent over from Gus Atkinson again to keep the pressure on Pakistan and he's backed up by his fielders.

England wouldn't have expected this. Not at all.

This pitch has not offered much throughout this Test match and they wouldn't have expected Pakistan to gift them a couple of wickets like Shan Masood and Saim Ayub did.

The hosts get themselves into a strong position in a Test match and then find themselves struggling again.

Surely there can't be many times a team has scored 550+ in an innings and lost?

    Rob, Hinckley

Only five times has a team scored 550 in the first innings of a match and lost. No team has done so and lost by an innings.

The highest score made by a team batting first who went on to lose was Bangladesh, who made 595-8 declared against New Zealand in 2017 and lost by seven wickets.
