    Durham 531-7 dec v Notts 229 & 73-2

    Oh my!

Ben Slater's heart will have been in his mouth as he takes on a Bas de Leede and almost picks out the tall figure of Ben McKinney in the deep.

It drops just over his head and almost clears the rope, but it's four.

But that's more convincing as de Leede overpitches and Slater pounces, driving through cover for his second boundary of the over. A single takes the opener to 33.

  2. Postpublished at 14:04 British Summer Time 24 August

    Worcestershire 447 v Kent 171 & 109-2

Tawanda Muyeye takes a single off the first ball of the day off James Hartshorn to move to 81*. He was dropped on nought yesterday afternoon, remember.

Jack Leaning picks up his fourth boundary with a pleasant stroke through the covers a couple of balls later to move to 19.

The deficit is down to 167.

  3. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Edgbastonpublished at 14:01 British Summer Time 24 August

    Warks 337 & 35-1 v Somerset 239

Just the 12 balls and then it starts raining again.

In that spell, we saw a boundary apiece from Alex Davies and Will Rhodes and 10 dot balls.

The hover cover is put into position, but there is high hopes this is only going to be a short delay.

  4. 50 runs

up for Glamorganpublished at 14:00 British Summer Time 24 August

    Derbys 429 v Glamorgan 168 & 50-1

Sam Northeast is the new Glamorgan batter and dabs Pat Brown down into the leg-side for a single as they reach 50 for the loss of Billy Root. They need another 211 to avoid an innings defeat.

  5. Day Three under way at New Roadpublished at 14:00 British Summer Time 24 August

    Worcestershire 447 v Kent 171 & 104-2

The sun has been shining at Worcester, no really, and play will begin on day three under blue skies.

Tawanda Muyeye will resume Kent's salvage effort after an eye-catching 80* from 84 deliveries with Jack Leaning unbeaten at the other end on 15 from 39 at the other end.

The Pears still lead by 172 with 66 overs remaining in the day and will be looking for quick wickets to dampen any hopes of a Kent revival.

  6. wicket

WICKET Root c Guest b Brown 13published at 13:57 British Summer Time 24 August

    Derbys 429 v Glamorgan 168 & 49-1

Poor shot by Billy Root, who fishes outside off stump with the bat well away from the body and edges Pat Brown to the keeper.

Glamorgan have only lost one game so far this season - that will have increased the anxiety in the away dressing room.

  7. Postpublished at 13:57 British Summer Time 24 August

    Durham 531-7 dec v Notts 229 & 64-2

Ben Raine strays on to the pads of Ben Slater who clips him away through midwicket for his third boundary.

Honours then to the bowler who zips one past Slater's outside edge and then gets another ball to nip away and beat the opener.

Joe Clarke then gets off the mark from his seventh ball as he turns Bas de Leede past square leg to his near namesake Graham Clark in the deep and runs three.

  8. Postpublished at 13:55 British Summer Time 24 August

    Yorks 326 v Sussex 189 & 70-3

First ball of the afternoon is a bit of a freebie from Jordan Thompson and James Coles flicks it unerringly through square leg for four. Five dot balls complete the over.

  9. 6 runs

100 partnership for Gloucestershirepublished at 13:55 British Summer Time 24 August

    Glos 261-3 v Leics 402

Josh Hull tries a short one from round the wicket and Ben Charlesworth pulls it over mid-wicket for six - the perfect way to post a century stand with James Bracey.

Gloucestershire are 141 behind as Tom Scriven begins the next over.

  10. Under way at Edgbastonpublished at 13:53 British Summer Time 24 August

    Warks 337 & 27-1 v Somerset 239

Day three is go go go, with blue skies peeking through patches of unthreatening, if grey, clouds.

As always on these types of days, hats off to the ground staff for mopping things up so efficiently. Only 34 overs have been lost, so 70 overs are to be bowled from now until close.

Alex Davies and Will Rhodes have stomped out to the middle in search of runs to extend Warwickshire's 125-run lead.

Josh Davey starts up with the delivery which requires Davies to defend.

  11. Postpublished at 13:50 British Summer Time 24 August

    Yorks 326 v Sussex 189 & 66-3

Believe it or not, there are shadows on the grass at Scarborough.

Sussex need another 71 runs to make Yorkshire bat again as they begin the afternoon session.

Tom Alsop is eight not out and James Coles has yet to score.

  12. Postpublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 24 August

    Durham 531-7 dec v Notts 229 & 57-2

Big session for Notts - in more ways than one.

The forecast for the final day is not great and Durham will be keen to wrap things up today and not rely on any favours from the weather gods tomorrow.

Notts, on the other hand, have some hope to cling on to. Ben Slater takes a rather streaky single off Bas de Leede's first over after lunch to cut the deficit to 245.

The sides face an extended afternoon session to 4:15 BST after this morning's delayed start.

James Bracey clips Tom Scriven through mid-wicket for four to reach 50 from 81 balls and earn Gloucestershire their first batting point.

  14. Postpublished at 13:45 British Summer Time 24 August

    Derbys 429 v Glamorgan 168 & 47-0

Play at Derby and Ben Kellaway cracks Zak Chappell's second delivery away square for four.

First innings duck notwithstanding, the 20-year-old is making a decent impression in only his third first-class game.

That one is a bit fortunate, though, as Chappell squares him up and the ball runs away to the third man boundary off the outside edge.

Kellaway is 33 not out and Glamorgan are now 214 behind.

  15. wicket

WICKET McCann c Robinson b Raine 0published at 13:42 British Summer Time 24 August

    Durham 531-7 dec v Notts 229 & 56-2

Just three balls after lunch and Freddie McCann departs for a five-ball duck.

Ben Raine opens up after lunch and tempts the debutant to nibble outside off-stump and edges behind to give Ollie Robinson his fourth catch of the day.

A half-century in his maiden senior innings and then a duck in his second.

    Welcome to first-class cricket.

Joe Clarke is in. Big shift needed.

  16. Postpublished at 13:39 British Summer Time 24 August

    Glos 243-3 v Leics 402

Whatever the two Gloucestershire batsmen have been doing this morning, it has clearly got them in the mood for run-making.

That is simply glorious by Ben Charlesworth, who drives a Tom Scriven half-volley back past the stumps for his first boundary of the day.

He is now 111 not out.

  17. Postpublished at 13:36 British Summer Time 24 August

    Glos 238-3 v Leics 402

A nice start for James Bracey, who helps himself to back to back boundaries off Josh Hull - a square cut and cover drive - and goes past 800 County Championship runs for the season.

The first over following the morning washout costs Hull 11 runs as Bracey progresses to 44 not out.

  18. Good news from Bristolpublished at 13:29 British Summer Time 24 August

    Glos 227-3 v Leics 402

Suddenly things are looking brighter at a number of our grounds.

Play will begin at 13:30 BST at Bristol, with Gloucestershire 175 behind.

Ben Charlesworth is 105 not out.

  19. Play to begin in Derbypublished at 13:25 British Summer Time 24 August

    Derbys 429 v Glamorgan 168 & 39-0

The umpires have been out to the middle at the County Ground and decided that play can start at 13:40 BST.

Glamorgan will resume 222 in arrears but with their openers Billy Root and Ben Kellaway together after surviving 12 overs last evening.

Derbyshire have not yet won a Championship game this season - this is their chance.

  20. Demutualisation 'essential' for Yorkshirepublished at 13:21 British Summer Time 24 August

Yorkshire chairman Colin Graves is planning to turn the club into a limited company in the hope of attracting investment from around the world.

He has injected £6m since being re-elected in February to put the club's finances on a "relatively even keel".
