  1. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 15:20 British Summer Time 24 August

    Derbys 429 v Glamorgan 168 & 93-3

A life for Kiran Carlson on 10, with Glamorgan trailing by 163.

Although let's be fair to Nye Donald, this would have been an absolute speccy at gully.

Carlson edged thickly and Donald leapt high to his left...but he did get two hands to it.

    Worcestershire 447 v Kent 171 & 184-4

Joe Leach is on the money in his latest over... he finds the edge of Harry Finch's bat but the ball drops just short of second slip.

There might be a half-hearted LBW appeal in there too. Whatever they want, Worcestershire are not getting it.

Finch remains, on four from 15 deliveries. Tawanda Muyeye has 124 from 136 at the other end.

  3. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 15:15 British Summer Time 24 August

    Yorks 326 v Sussex 189 & 125-4

You can't really criticise James Wharton for that.

John Simpson turns the ball off his legs with the full face of the bat and Wharton is unable to hang onto the chance at short leg.

Dan Moriarty is the unlucky bowler.

  4. 350 up for Gloucestershirepublished at 15:10 British Summer Time 24 August

    Glos 352-3 v Leics 402

Unlike several other pitches round the country, this is definitely one that is favouring batters.

James Bracey steers Ian Holland backward of point for four as Gloucestershire collect a third batting point and two from the next ball carries him into the 90s.

  5. Postpublished at 15:09 British Summer Time 24 August

    Warks 337 & 37-1 v Somerset 239

Craig Overton is causing problems already for Will Rhodes.

The Somerset quick is getting good shape, but his piece de resistance is a full delivery which tempts Rhodes into attempting a drive.

The batter only just misses the ball but it was close enough to leave Overton with his hands on his head.

  6. Postpublished at 15:07 British Summer Time 24 August

    Yorks 326 v Sussex 189 & 121-4

There is a backward short leg in place for Dan Moriarty.

But when a bat-pad chance balloons up, it goes to where a forward short leg would be and Tom Alsop survives.

The field is immediately changed. Moriarty then finds the inside edge of the bat but the ball just misses the stumps.

Sussex just 16 in arrears now.

  7. Postpublished at 15:07 British Summer Time 24 August

    Durham 531-7 dec v Notts 229 & 114-4

Not the most convincing over in Matt Montgomery's career.

He wafts outside off stump at a Bas de Leede ball which kept low and again looks to cut outside off. And misses.

Tidier from de Leede who collects his second maiden of the innings.

Callum Parkinson then whizzes through his second successive maiden in the manner of a man on a mission to improve the over rate.

Just the 49 remaining in the day.

  8. Postpublished at 15:04 British Summer Time 24 August

    Worcestershire 447 v Kent 171 & 177-4

Finch fans will be delighted to see Adam Finch bowling to Harry Finch.

Tawanda Muyeye is on 120 after flashing Finch away to the rope at wide long-on using that strength once again.

The Kent deficit is down to double figures, though they are four down in the second innings.

  9. Play resumes at Edgbastonpublished at 15:01 British Summer Time 24 August

    Warks 337 & 35-1 v Somerset 239

Josh Davey swings one away from Alex Davies.

There are 50 overs left to bowl today.

  10. Postpublished at 14:59 British Summer Time 24 August

    Durham 531-7 dec v Notts 229 & 114-4

Jack Haynes welcomes Bas de Leede back into the attack by hitting his first ball past point to the rope.

A second half-volley almost gives the Notts batter back-to-back boundaries, but good work keeps it down to three.

Matt Montgomery plays forward to the final ball and takes a couple more off de Leede who has been expensive - 0-44 from eight.

  11. Postpublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 24 August

    Glos 332-3 v Leics 402

Ben Charlesworth really loves to take on anything short.

He pulls Josh Hull away for his 18th four and moves to 162 not out.

    Gloucestershire now just 70 behind.

  12. Update from Edgbastonpublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 24 August

    Warks 337 & 35-1 v Somerset 239

Good news! Play will resume at 15:00 BST.

The covers have been whisked away, players are milling around on the outfield and the sun is out.

  13. Postpublished at 14:55 British Summer Time 24 August

    Yorks 326 v Sussex 189 & 118-4

    Lucky.

John Simpson miscues a pull shot off Yorkshire all-rounder George Hill and the ball just clears Ben Coad at mid-on.

  14. 100 runs

100 up for Nottspublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 24 August

    Durham 531-7 dec v Notts 229 & 102-4

There's a ripple of applause but meagre cause for celebration as Jack Haynes flicks a single to fine leg off Daniel Hogg to bring up three figures for Nottinghamshire.

Durham have taken three wickets since lunch and have well over an hour to inflict further damage before they head off for tea.

New batter Matt Montgomery takes a single to bring the deficit down to a still distant 200.

  15. wicket

WICKET Evison c Roderick b Finch 16published at 14:52 British Summer Time 24 August

    Worcestershire 447 v Kent 171 & 168-4

The breakthrough. Not necessarily the one they wanted, but they all count.

Adam Finch gives up a couple of fours to Joey Evison earlier in the over, but gets his revenge as he draws the Kent man forward with a fine delivery, finds the outside edge and Gareth Roderick takes a good catch low to his right with the gloves.

Harry Finch joins Tawanda Muyeye (114*). 53 overs left in the day. The deficit is 108.

  16. Postpublished at 14:51 British Summer Time 24 August

    Worcestershire 447 v Kent 171 & 168-3

You can tell Worcestershire consider Tawanda Muyeye the sole obstacle in their bid to secure an extended Bank Holiday weekend.

He guides Joe Leach effortlessly through backward point using the open face of the bat for his 16th four.

Leach responds with a rare bumper, which Muyeye attempts to hook away for six, however missing the ball entirely.

The deficit is 108 and Kent have a pretty long tail.

  17. Back under way at Derbypublished at 14:46 British Summer Time 24 August

    Derbys 429 v Glamorgan 168 & 70-3

The light is better and the rain is blowing away...so we're back!

Zak Chappell forces Colin Ingram into a forward defence and then a no-run drive to get us moving again.

  18. wicket

WICKET Slater run out 53published at 14:45 British Summer Time 24 August

    Durham 531-7 dec v Notts 229 & 99-4

    Oh no, no, no.

Jack Haynes turns the ball into midwicket and sets off for a single.

Ben Slater doesn't hesitate and sets off, but the throw from sub fielder Paul Coughlin is a good one and Ollie Robinson whips off the bails.

    The last thing Nottinghamshire needed.

Durham are just six wickets away.

  19. No play on day three at Northwoodpublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 24 August

    Middlesex 250-7 v Northants 207

Merchant Taylors' School, NorthwoodImage source, Rex Features

    The rain wins in Hertfordshire.

With Yorkshire looking favourites to beat Sussex at Scarborough, Middlesex really could have done with as much play as possible with the Division Two title race closing up.

    They'll try again tomorrow.

  20. 50 for Ben Slaterpublished at 14:43 British Summer Time 24 August

    Durham 531-7 dec v Notts 229 & 99-3

He's used up a few lives in this innings, including a drop on five and 49, but these are very important runs from Ben Slater.

The ball after his second drop, Slater drives through the covers for his seventh four to reach fifty from 111 balls.

The left-hander made a couple of List A centuries in Nottinghamshire's One Day Cup campaign and follows up with his 40th first-class half-century on his red-ball return.
