  1. Lunch at CLSpublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 11 April

    Durham 104-2 v Warwickshire

After being asked to bowl Ethan Bamber gave the visitors a perfect start when he up-rooted Adam Lyth's off-stump without a run on the board in the opening over but Emilio Gay steadied the ship, adding 78 with Ben McKinney before edging behind off Michael Booth for 41.

McKinney is onto 43 at the interval with David Bedingham looking poised on 16* at the other end as Durham will target batting bonus points on the opening afternoon.

  2. 50 runs

50 for Adam Lythpublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 11 April

    Yorkshire 98-1 v Worcs

A chanceless innings from Adam Lyth who reaches 50 on the eve of lunch.

He's hit nine fours in his 85-ball stay to register his 75th career half-century. Not bad.

The hosts have quite a platform after being put in by the Pears.

  3. Postpublished at 12:59 British Summer Time 11 April

    Surrey 121-3 v Hants

Ben Foakes ducks under a Sonny Baker bouncer and then leaves a length ball outside off.

We'll have time for one more over before lunch, bowled by Kyle Abbott.

  4. Postpublished at 12:56 British Summer Time 11 April

    Lancs v Northants 80-2

Tom Hartley is going to bowl some left arm spin before the break.

Luke Procter will keep the strike as he moves forward to clip the ball to square leg for a single.

Tidy over but not much in the way of turn at this early stage.

A solid session of play for Northants so far after being put in to bat.

  5. 100 runs

100 up for Durhampublished at 12:54 British Summer Time 11 April

    Durham 100-2 v Warwickshire

David Bedingham is looking dangerous already, carving away Vishwa Fernando for his third boundary to take his side into three figures.

Ben McKinney has 41* at the other end and after losing a wicket without a run on the board, Durham are heading into lunch looking in control.

And a fifth for Essex comes in the form of the set batsman Haynes.

Shane Snater fires one into the fifth wicket channel and Haynes dangles his bat outside off and nicks behind.

This has been a near perfect session for Tom Westley's Essex who assessed the conditions well at the toss when electing to have a go with ball in hand.

Five down inside two hours will make this a very enjoyable lunch at Trent Bridge for the visitors.

  7. Postpublished at 12:50 British Summer Time 11 April

    Lancs v Northants 78-2

A big LBW shout from George Balderson against Luke Procter is turned down as the Northants captain is again caught on the crease.

Looked in line but too high.

Procter survives the over on 36 not out.

  8. Durham edging towards lunchpublished at 12:49 British Summer Time 11 April

    Durham 90-2 v Warwickshire

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

We are just a few minutes away from lunch now and David Bedingham has recently joined Ben McKinney in the middle.

Bedingham, who was Division One's leading run-maker last season, got off the mark with a beautiful four through mid-wicket off Michael Booth.

He replaced Emilio Gay, who was caught behind off Booth on 41, but had been becalmed for a few overs prior to his dismissal. He did put on 78 runs with McKinney though after Durham lost opener Alex Lees for a duck in the first over.

  9. Postpublished at 12:48 British Summer Time 11 April

    Surrey 116-3 v Hants

Kyle Abbott is back into the attack and strays to leg, allowing Ben Foakes a clip off the pads for two.

Shot! Full from Abbott and Foakes leans into a cover drive for four.

But Foakes is not in control of his next scoring stroke as he goes forward and inside edges another attempted cover drive to fine leg for four more.

Sam Cook takes a second wicket for Essex

Second wicket for Sam Cook and Freddie McCann will not look back on that one fondly.

A short ball, banged in from around the wicket, gets big on McCann who shapes to pull but is on it way too late, and flat bats it back to the bowler who takes it at the second attempt after his initial grab parried it up nicely in the air.

It was an ignominious end for the Nottinghamshire man who had looked quite comfortable to that point.

One more before lunch for Essex would give them a firm grip of the scruff in this game and even without they have had the best of the morning.

  11. Surrey pass 100 three down at the Ovalpublished at 12:39 British Summer Time 11 April

    Surrey 103-3 v Hants

The hosts reach the landmark in the 22nd over via a loose, leg side ball from Sonny Baker which Ben Foakes doesn't quite reach.

    Four leg byes.

Hampshire chose to bowl first on winning the toss and will be reasonably happy despite the run rate if they can prize one more out before lunch.

  12. 100 runs

100 up for Sussexpublished at 23 overs

    Sussex 104-1 v Somerset

Century up for Sussex with Dan Hughes on 31 and Tom Clark on 42.

The pair have rebuilt nicely after losing their first wicket at 24 in the sixth over but Somerset change pair of Blake Aldridge and Migael Pretorius have failed to keep up the pressure.

Lewis Gregory and Josh Davey had maintained a firm grip on the handbrake with the new ball but batting looks easier now and Sussex will be happy enough with the match situation approaching lunch.

  13. Division Two round-uppublished at 12:36 British Summer Time 11 April

The latest in the second division games away from Old Trafford...

Kent made made early breakthroughs against promotion rivals Middlesex at Kent, dismissing both openers cheaply.

They now have a third wicket of the session, Leus du Plooy caught behind off the bowling of Kashif Ali for 25 to leave the away team on 71-3.

Gloucestershire are 87-1 against Glamorgan at Bristol, where opener (and captain) Cam Bancroft is 46 not out.

Ben Charlesworth was caught by keeper Chris Cooke off the bowling of Ned Leonard for 19.

Derbyshire had an early breakthrough against Leicestershire at Grace Road, where Rehan Ahmed opened the innings with Sol Budinger and was bowled by Zak Chappell in the fifth over for 13.

But hosts have rallied to 106-1 with Budinger on 63 and Ian Holland unbeaten on 26.

  14. Postpublished at 12:31 British Summer Time 11 April

    Lancs v Northants 70-2

John Turner is in the attack for the Red Rose and Northants captain Luke Procter is beaten outside off stump, stuck on the crease.

Turner drops the ball a bit shorter and Procter blocks on the back foot into the off side.

    Maiden over.

  15. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 22.2 overs

    Gay c Smith b Booth 41 (Durham 78-2 v Warwickshire)

    There's the breakthrough!

Michael Booth fires in the second ball of his fifth over and Emilio Gay unwisely takes a flash at a straight drive, only succeeding in nicking the edge and offering a chance to keeper Kai Smith who claims the ball moving to his left.

David Bedingham makes his return to the Riverside at four, and gets off the mark with a trademark clip to the boundary.

  16. Postpublished at 12:28 British Summer Time 11 April

    Durham 78-1 v Warwickshire

Rob Yates has been introduced to try some off breaks as the visitors try to find a way to break this partnership between Emilio Gay (41*) and Ben McKinney.

McKinney has been pegged down at one end by Ed Barnard of late and takes the chance to release some tension by lofting Yates down the ground for a boundary.

Hampshire got off to a great start this morning with the early wickets of Rory Burns and Ollie Pope but the bowling has loosened a little since.

But that's out! Brad Wheal strikes with one of the worst balls he has bowled.

How did that happen? Short, wide and Jamie Smith has slapped it to Sonny Baker moving just inside the deep third boundary.

Ben Foakes was a batting hero at Chelmsford last week, scoring vital half centuries in both innings - and he is back in the middle.

  18. 'Hampshire need to tighten up'published at 12:25 British Summer Time 11 April

    Surrey 95-2 v Hants

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

It was a good toss to win for Hampshire who have been soundly beaten on the four previous occasions in this fixture at the Oval.

Not surprisingly the wicket that’s been cut is in exactly the same place as before.

Two early wickets put Surrey under pressure but Hampshire have been guilty of not quite getting enough balls in the right areas since Jamie Smith arrived at the crease.

Yes, some balls have made their way down to the third man boundary, but there have been a few too many balls bowled with width or a fraction too straight which has allowed Surrey to sail along at around five an over.

  19. Postpublished at 12:20 British Summer Time 11 April

    Yorkshire 85-1 v Worcestershire

James Wharton has dived into the batting manual to produce a textbook cover drive off Tom Taylor, sending the ball racing away to the rope for four.

Two balls later he steers a fuller delivery past the slips and down to the rope at third for another.

The 24-year-old is onto 19 after clipping another over pitched one to the mid-wicket fence to finish the over.

Looking like a nice pitch to bat on in the Leeds sunshine.

  20. Postpublished at 12:18 British Summer Time 11 April

    Lancs v Northants 66-2

Anderson Phillip is charging in here but there's enough width for James Sales not to play.

He straightens his line and Sales drives to mid off for no run.

The fifth ball is leg side and glanced fine for two.

19 overs bowled. Honours even so far?
