  1. 50 runs

50 for Ben McKinneypublished at 13:55 British Summer Time 11 April

    Durham 118-2 v Warwickshire

A first half-century of the season for the promising 20-year-old.

He follows up his 37 in the second dig against Notts last week with a patient 93-ball knock.

Big future ahead for the England Lions man.

  2. Postpublished at 13:54 British Summer Time 11 April

    Surrey 129-4 v Hants

    Maiden over from Kyle Abbott.

Brad Wheal is bowling an off stump line but Dan Lawrence is able to leave the ball on length.

Lawrence is forward to a fuller fifth ball, driving to cover for four.

Just leaned into that shot. Classy.

  3. Postpublished at 13:50 British Summer Time 11 April

    Lancs v Northants 97-2

Tom Bailey starts the session with a leg side ball that Procter taps fine for four easy runs.

    He's now on 44.

Four byes off the fourth ball. It really is all the fours here!

  4. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 30.5 overs

    Clark c Rew b Pretorius 49 (Sussex 127-2 v Somerset)

Perfect start after lunch for Somerset and a huge disappointment for Tom Clark who falls a run short of his half century.

You wonder about the psychology of going in on 49 rather than 50 or 51 but Somerset have a breakthrough in the first over of the afternoon session.

  5. Postpublished at 13:47 British Summer Time 11 April

    Surrey 125-4 v Hants

Brad Wheal is a bit wide first up this afternoon.

Dom Sibley gets a single off the third ball and Lawrence leaves the bowler outside off stump.

Wheal over compensates and drifts leg side to end the over.

  6. Play resumes at Old Traffordpublished at 13:44 British Summer Time 11 April

    Lancs v Northants 89-2

The Red Rose county will be desperate to prize Northants captain Luke Procter out.

He's very much the linchpin of this line-up and scored 923 Championship runs at 48 lat season.

He's facing Tom Bailey first up this afternoon on 40 not out.

James Sales is 13 not out at the other end.

Not that superstition should be a factor!

  7. Play resumes at Headingleypublished at 13:43 British Summer Time 11 April

    Yorkshire 103-1 v Worcestershire

Adam Lyth is on 50 not out and James Wharton has a tidy 27* as the hosts return to the field.

Worcestershire spent a long time in the field at Somerset last week and it's feeling like that might be the case again, given the conditions.

  8. Afternoon session begins at the Ovalpublished at 13:43 British Summer Time 11 April

    Surrey 124-4 v Hants

Two balls left in the over from Kyle Abbott, who struck just before lunch to remove Ben Foakes.

New batter Dan Lawrence is on strike.

Dom Sibley is at the non-striker's end on 33.

Lawrence is off the mark with a leg side ball, worked square for two.

Good news for Hampshire fans to see Fletcha Middleton back on the field after appearing to sustain a finger injury this morning.

  9. Play resumes at CLSpublished at 13:42 British Summer Time 11 April

    Durham 104-2 v Warwickshire

David Bedingham (16*) and Ben McKinney (43*) return to the middle looking to make Warwickshire toil in the sunshine.

Ethan Bamber struck six balls into the morning session, can the visitors find another quick breakthrough?

  10. Bancroft leads way for Gloucestershirepublished at 13:32 British Summer Time 11 April

    Gloucestershire 100-1 v Glamorgan - lunch

    Cameron BancroftImage source, Rex Features

Australia’s Cameron Bancroft started the season with a bang as he reached 50 off 83 balls to lead Gloucestershire’s solid progress after they were put in.

New skipper Bancroft timed his off-side shots beautifully, but was dropped from a difficult chance behind the wicket off Zain Ul Hassan on 48.

Former Somerset man Ned Leonard claimed the only wicket of the morning, having Ben Charlesworth caught by Chris Cooke for 19, driving at a wide one.

Nine no-balls from Leonard and Asitha Fernando have not helped Glamorgan’s cause, with Timm van der Gugten the most economical of the seamers.

  11. 'Brilliant viewing' at Canterburypublished at 13:29 British Summer Time 11 April

    Kent v Middlesex 89-3 - lunch

    BBC Radio London commentator

Kashif Ali took one of the three Middlesex wickets to fallImage source, Rex Features

It has been a relentless performance with the ball from Kent, who fully justified their decision to field first on a cloudless morning in Canterbury.

The ball seamed on a grassy surface from the off, but once the lacquer came off after a few overs the swing became unplayable for Middlesex.

Both opening batters were removed by peaches of deliveries that took the top of off stump, whilst Leus du Plooy looked to use his feet and negate the threat but that ended in his downfall with a nick to the keeper.

Max Holden, who was the star of the fightback against Lancashire last week has dug in, as has Ryan Higgins who was heavily tested on the off stump in his short stint before the interval.

Middlesex will hope they can hang on in there until the ball softens slightly, but Kent will very much have their eye on a couple of quick wickets after lunch to open up the rest of the innings.

It's been brilliant viewing and has already whet the appetite for another cracking game of county cricket.

Sam Cook takes a return catch to dismiss Freddie McCannImage source, Rex Features

Essex’s seamers enjoyed a superb morning at Trent Bridge by reducing Notts to 78-5.

Winning the toss, Jamie Porter collected two immediate wickets to leave the hosts in trouble at 4-2, before Sam Cook removed the dangerous Joe Clarke.

Shane Snater then encouraged an edge off Jack Haynes, who had looked very good in a 47-run partnership with the stoic, left hander, Freddie McCann.

McCann was dismissed just before lunch by the morning’s only bouncer, bowled by the returning Cook - he went after it, only to hit it back at the bowler who collected the catch on the second attempt.

  14. Somerset pay for 'inconsistency'published at 13:19 British Summer Time 11 April

    Sussex 122-1 v Somerset - lunch

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Daniel Hughes and Tom Clark have taken full toll of some inconsistent Somerset seam bowling on what looks like a good wicket at Hove.

Lewis Gregory and Josh Davey have bowled well, without much luck, but neither Kasey Aldridge nor Migael Pretorius, in the side in place of the rested Craig Overton, were anywhere near their best.

A more than useful platform has been built by the home team under clear blue skies in front of a good crowd.

  15. Bedingham would be 'prized wicket' for Bearspublished at 13:15 British Summer Time 11 April

    Durham 104-2 v Warwickshire - lunch

    Clive Eakin
    BBC CWR Sport

Warwickshire may have given themselves false expectations when Ethan Bamber sent Alex Lees' off stump out of the ground with the last ball of the first over.

Since then the bowlers have struggled to get much life out of a slowish pitch and it took to the 23rd over for them to strike again, Michael Booth having Emilio Gay caught behind for 41.

That brought David Bedingham to the crease. The South African’s return to the Durham squad has significantly strengthened their team as he underlined by clipping his first ball off his toes to the boundary.

He did come close to edging a Vishwa Fernando delivery just before lunch and his is a wicket the Bears will prize highly if they can get it early in the next session.

  16. Lunch at Trent Bridgepublished at 13:14 British Summer Time 11 April

    Notts 78-5 v Essex

Essex have been in complete control of the contest from the moment Jamie Porter broke the opening partnership in the third over.

Joe Clarke perhaps had reason to question his dismissal after he was given leg before with the ball drifting down leg so much it looked as though it had been given caught behind, but aside from that Notts have given wickets rather than had them taken away.

Haseeb Hameed, Freddie McCann and Jack Haynes were guilty of poor execution and for all that Essex have put the ball in the right spots, captain Tom Westley will be a little surprised to have them five down at lunch after winning the toss.

  17. Lunch at Old Traffordpublished at 13:08 British Summer Time 11 April

    Lancs v Northants 89-2

Luke Procter is again forward to Tom Hartley, scooping the spinner leg side for a single.

George Balderson will bowl the last over before the break.

    Procter defends down the ground.

He gets a single off the fourth ball and James Sales clips the last ball through mid-wicket for four. A bit too full from Balderson.

An encouraging start for Northants after losing Vasconcelos and Bartlett early.

Sales has 13 and Procter is on 40.

But Lancashire have kept a lid on the run rate and will be in control of this match if they strike early this afternoon.

  18. Lunch at Hovepublished at 13:07 British Summer Time 11 April

    Sussex 122-1 v Somerset

Decent first session for the hosts despite losing their first wicket in the sixth over.

Dan Hughes, who goes in unbeaten on 41, and Tom Clark, who will join him at the lunch table a single short of his half century on 49, have batted sensibly and with few moments of concern.

After the new ball pairing of Lewis Gregory and Josh Davey were taken off the visitors have looked a little toothless and after electing to bat, Sussex will be happy with their morning's work.

  19. Lunch at Headingleypublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 11 April

    Yorkshire 103-1 v Worcestershire

After being put in by the visitors, Yorkshire have made a fine start in the Leeds sunshine.

Adam Lyth began positively and put on 55 with Finaly Bean for the opening wicket before Bean fell for 19 to a fine slip catch from Ben Allison off Tom Taylor.

Lyth and the impressive James Wharton have played nicely to move to 50* and 27* at the interval and will be looking forward to more where those came from this afternoon.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 11 April

    Foakes b Abbott 14 (Surrey 122-4 v Hants)

Bowled off an inside edge! Seam and bounce from Kyle Abbott to prize out Ben Foakes via a checked loose cover drive just before the lunch break.

Hampshire get a huge lift at the end of the session of play and Dom Sibley survives on 33.

    That's lunch.
