  1. Bright start in the Sussex sunshinepublished at 12:17 British Summer Time 11 April

    Sussex 87-1 v Somerset

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

A good opening hour for Sussex despite the loss of Tom Haines comprehensively bowled by Lewis Gregory.

John Simpson had no hesitation in batting first on what a looks a good pitch, albeit offering some early encouragement for the Somerset seamers.

Daniel Hughes was beaten on several occasions by both Josh Davey and Gregory but he’s battled through and together with Tom Clark have now added a half century partnership for the second wicket

  2. Postpublished at 12:16 British Summer Time 11 April

    Surrey 88-2 v Hants

Worryingly for Hampshire in addition to the Surrey run rate, Fletcha Middleton has left the field with a suspected finger injury.

Sonny Baker is in the attack for Hampshire now. Good pace and carry as he seams the ball away from Dom Sibley, who leaves it.

    Maiden over.

88 runs in 17 overs beforehand so that is welcome respite.

    Bartlett LBW b Phillip 16 (Lancs v Northants 54-2)

West Indies pace bowler Anderson Phillip strikes in his second over.

The ball is full on middle and leg and George Bartlett has played around it. Feels like a soft dismissal.

    James Sales to bat next.

  4. Postpublished at 16 overs

    Sussex 76-1 v Somerset

Dan Hughes (22) and Tom Clark (15) have weathered a decent early effort from Lewis Gregory and Josh Davey to push Sussex up past the half century mark.

And they have now seen off a couple of overs of Blake Aldridge and Migael Pretorius with a degree of comfort, Clark hitting a couple of nicely timed boundaries off the latter's first over.

  5. Postpublished at 12:08 British Summer Time 11 April

    Surrey 78-2 v Hants

Jamie Smith can make batting look ever so easy. Even though it's not.

He forces a wide ball from Brett Hampton away off the back foot behind point for four to take the second-wicket partnership to 50 in 38 balls.

He follows that up with a front foot drive through the same region and clips four more on the front foot through square leg.

Early breakthroughs for Hampshire this morning but Surrey have really grasped some momentum.

    Bean c Allison b Taylor 19 (Yorkshire 55-1)

Good hands at third slip and the Pears have a breakthrough.

Finlay Bean had grown in stature but pushes forward at one which moves in from Tom Taylor, catches a thick edge and Ben Allison gets down well to grab a couple of inches off the turf at third slip.

James Wharton joins Adam Lyth who is on 30*.

Emilio Gay moves into the 30s with a couple of boundaries off Ed Barnard, the first a lovely leg-side clip and the second an open-faced glance to deep backward point, as Durham continue to make a positive start after losing Alex Lees in the opening over of the match.

ben McKinney is at the other end on 20*.

Clarke lbw b Cook (Notts 27-3 v Essex)

    Essex celebrateImage source, Getty Images

    Controversial one this...

He has walked quite a way across his stumps and been pinged on the outside of his left pad. According to Peter Hartley that has hit in front of leg or at least enough of it for the finger to go up.

Clarke certainly thought it was going down and has hung around to stare down the wicket at the official but the umpire had a better view than anyone and he is gone.

Clarke was starting to let loose and he had taken a risk or two in order to try and get Notts going. He has paid with his wicket and could pay with his wallet as well after that little display of dissent.

A ticking off is on its way at lunchtime at best.

  11. Postpublished at 11:55 British Summer Time 11 April

    Lancs v Northants 46-1

Northants captain Luke Procter is forward to drive George Balderson through the off side for two and the return throw knocks out middle stump just after the batter made his ground.

    He's on 14.

Shot! Procter sees out the 14th over, driving Balderson down the ground for four.

The White Rose have cruised past 50 in the opening 12 overs and Worcestershire are staring at the prospect of another arduous spell in the field after their Taunton trauma last weekend.

Tom Taylor has been the tightest bowler but Finlay Bean is growing in confidence and clips him away for three to move to 19 while Adam Lyth has 29 from 37 balls at the other end.

  13. Postpublished at 11 overs

    Notts 21-2 v Essex

    Have some of that!

Joe Clarke has had enough of this two-an-over rearguard action lark and has danced down the wicket and check-drived Jamie Porter for a six into the Radcliffe Road End.

Great shot and one which might break the shackles that Essex had managed to slip on to their hosts in the opening 11 overs.

  14. Postpublished at 11:50 British Summer Time 11 April

    Surrey 43-2 v Hants

Kyle Abbott bowls a loose ball down the leg side and that disappears fine for four leg byes.

The third ball is driven down the ground beautifully by Jamie Smith for four more.

Brett Hampton replaces Brad Wheal in the attack and his first ball is pushed into the off side for what should've been one but overthrows bring Dom Sibley five!

Smith tucks a leg side ball away fine for four and he gets four more driven through cover.

for Finlay Beanpublished at 11:39 British Summer Time 11 April

    Yorkshire 45-0 v Worcestershire

Yorkshire are well and truly motoring in the Headingley sunshine.

Jacob Duffy bangs one in short on Finlay Bean's hip and he swivels on a sixpence to hook away over the long leg boundary for six runs.

Duffy's first five overs have gone for 33 runs.

Adam Lyth looks poised on 24* with Bean now on 15* after a slightly nervier opening half-hour or so.

The latest in the second division games away from Old Trafford...

Kent have made early breakthroughs against promotion rivals Middlesex at Kent, where the visitors are 21-2.

Both openers have gone, Stephen Eskinazi and Nathan Fernandes, bowled by Grant Stewart and Nathan Gilchrist, with the hosts making light of missing Keith Dudgeon, who sustained an injury in training yesterday after an impressive debut at Wantage Road last week.

Gloucestershire are a bit more comfortable at this stage against Glamorgan at Bristol, where openers Cam Bancroft and Ben Charlesworth have guided the hosts to 25-0 in seven overs.

Derbyshire have an early breakthrough against Leicestershire at Grace Road, where Rehan Ahmed opened the innings with Sol Budinger and was bowled by Zak Chappell in the fifth over for 13.

The hosts are now 35-1 and Budinger is on 19.

    Haines b Gregory 14 (Sussex 24-1 v Somerset)

A mixed start from Tom Haines with an lbw survival, an edge followed by a beautiful cover drive, comes to a sticky end.

Lewis Gregory, bowling round the wicket, has done him with a ball that has nipped in at him off the seam and scuttled through his defences.

    Good breakthrough for the visitors

  20. Postpublished at 11:27 British Summer Time 11 April

    Durham 24-1 v Warwickshire

Durham are slowly recovering after that nightmare start at the Riverside.

Ben McKinney has taken advantage of a little width from Ethan Bamber and Vishwa Fernando to find the ropes to move onto 13 with Emilio Gay finding a thick edge to pick up another off the Sri Lankan and producing a lovely punch through the covers off Bamber to reach 11.
