Just a couple of singles added off spinner Ollie Price as lunch arrives at Bristol with Leicestershire 27 runs in front.

Ian Holland is one run short of 50 after putting on 142 for the first wicket with Rishi Patel, who fell to Price for 75.

Marchant de Lange had Lewis Hill caught at short leg, but barring some inspired bowling this afternoon, this match appears to be heading towards a draw.

  2. Lunch at Northwoodpublished at 13:06 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    Middlesex 264 Northamptonshire 207 & 55-2

Decent start from Middlesex has petered out a little bit with Northants digging in from 37-2 to walk off at lunch having suffered no further damage.

They still trail by two runs though which will give the hosts some hope to cling on to if they can get stuck into the middle order.

  3. Lunch at Worcesterpublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    Worcs 55-2 v Kent - target 101

Grant Stewart zips one past Kashif Ali's outside edge and the Worcestershire batter breathes a sigh of relief.

He sees out the next three balls and that's lunch.

The morning session has gone to plan for the Pears who took the final two Kent wickets for the cost of 23 runs.

The Pears have lost openers Jake Libby and Gareth Roderick in the chase of 101, but lunch needing just 46 more, with Ali (21) and Jones (10) at the crease.

  4. Lunch at The Ovalpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    Surrey 444-9 dec v Lancs 204 & 118-5

A couple of singles from Conor McKerr's final over of the morning session at The Oval, but Surrey firmly on course for victory after picking up four wickets.

Three of them were taken by Dan Worrall, who removed Keaton Jennings and Rocky Flitnoff with successive deliveries to leave Lancashire tottering on 33-3.

Matty Hurst is 43 not out and Venkatesh Iyer has 15 - they have added 36 since Worrall had George Balderson caught in the slips.

  5. Lunch at Utiltia Bowlpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    Hants 146-2 v Essex 438-8d

A very fine morning indeed for Hampshire.

Toby Albert has been extremely solid in his unbeaten 67, with only Nick Gubbins departing.

Essex's hopes of 19 day four wickets have faded - this pitch simply isn't capable of such a collapse.

  6. Lunch at Edgbastonpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    Warwickshire 337 & 270 v Somerset 238 & 13-0

Warwickshire tried to sneak in a third over before lunch but the umps are feeling peckish and that is that.

Strong start to a big, big chase for Somerset, taking 13 off the first two.

It leaves them needing another 356 at just under 5.40 runs per overs to win given a maximum of 66 overs remaining in the day.

  7. DURHAM BEAT NOTTS BY AN INNINGS AND 17 RUNSpublished at 13:01 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    Durham 531-7 dec v Notts 229 & 285 (f-o)

Lyndon James and Brett Hutton survive some harum-scarum running to take two singles from Callum Parkinson's 36th over.

Hutton jabs his bat down just in time to keep out Daniel Hogg who is into his 25th over of the innings.

    Then it's all over!

Hutton plays at Hogg's final ball of the over and edges behind to Ollie Robinson.

The debutant finishes with figures of 7-66 and eight wickets for the match. The stuff of dreams.

That wraps up a 24-point haul for Durham, while Notts will be looking over their shoulders after picking up two points in a third defeat of the campaign.

  8. Somerset begin their chasepublished at 13:00 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    Warwickshire 337 & 270 v Somerset 238 & 13-0

A statement of intent from Somerset's openers who take nine from the first over and have continued at pace in the second.

They will knock this off in about 41 overs at this rate!

    Lunch imminent.

  9. Postpublished at 12:59 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    Hants 145-2 v Essex 438-8d

A couple of excitable whoops as the ball whizzes past Robin Das at short-leg several times.

None of them were remotely catchable but on days like this - where it feels condemned to a draw - you get hyped about anything you can in the field.

  10. wicket

WICKET Hill c Dent b de Lange 11published at 12:57 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    Glos 544-4 dec v Leics 402 & 167-2

Chris Dent has had a quiet game on his return to the Gloucestershire side, but that's an easy short-leg catch as Lewis Hill is unable to ride the bounce extracted by Marchant de Lange.

The South African's next ball is of similar length but new batter Ajinkya Rahane pulls it for four.

  11. Postpublished at 12:56 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    Worcs 55-2 v Kent - target 101

A snorter from George Garrett brings a huge shout from the slips.

It lifts off the back of a length past the nose of Kashif Ali. Jack Leaning and Harry Finch think he may have gloved it.

    No dice.

  12. Postpublished at 12:56 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    Surrey 444-9 dec v Lancs 204 & 113-5

Dan Worrall doesn't bowl many bad balls, but that is one of them and Matty Hurst eases it down to fine leg for four. He is 41 not out - can he reach 50 this time after making 46 in the first innings?

  13. wicket

WICKET Stone lbw b Hogg 29published at 12:52 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    Durham 531-7 dec v Notts 229 & 283-9 (f-o)

    The resistance is over.

Daniel Hogg thuds one into Olly Stone's pads and the finger goes up to end his fine 77-ball innings.

The youngster has figures of 6-66. Beastly.

Durham need just one more wicket. Notts trail by 19.

    Durham 531-7 dec v Notts 229 & 283-8 (f-o)

Lyndon James pushes the returning Daniel Hogg for a single which brings up the fifty partnership for the ninth wicket.

It comes off 121 balls as Notts continue to show their stubborn side.

    They trail by 19 runs.

  15. 50 up for Worcspublished at 12:48 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    Worcs 51-2 v Kent - target 101

The hosts are rattling along here.

Kashif Ali and Rob Jones take nine off Akeem Jordan's sixth over.

Jones then gets forward and punches George Garrett to the long off boundary to bring up the Worcestershire off just 61 balls. Lovely timing there.

They're more than halfway there now.

  16. DERBYS BEAT GLAMORGAN BY 10 WICKETSpublished at 12:47 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    Derbys 429 & 27-0 v Glamorgan 168 & 287

One thousand, eight hundred and three days!

That's how long it has been since Derbyshire won a County Championship match at home.

Back-to-back sweeps from Luis Reece takes Derbyshire to the winning line.

It won't take them off the bottom of Division Two, but a massive step in the right direction.

    Derbys 429 & 15-0 v Glamorgan 168 & 287

By the way, Sam Northeast's only Championship wicket?

    Chris Dent!

Rob Key (with apologies to England's managing director) also bowled in that innings, so that tells you all you need to know about the intentions.

  18. WARWICKSHIRE ALL OUT FOR 270published at 12:46 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    Somerset need 369 to win

Jack Leach takes a five for walking off with 5-77, all his wickets coming this morning.

Michael Burgess is the final Warwickshire wicket to fall chopping an easy catch to Tom Lammonby for 29.

Somerset will start their chase needing 369 in 68 overs so they will need to clip along at 5.40 per over if they are to get there.

A five o'clock handshake on a draw would be the favourite at this stage.

  19. Postpublished at 12:44 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    Surrey 444-9 dec v Lancs 204 & 100-5

    A near thing.

Conor McKerr finds the edge of Venkatesh Iyer's bat but it falls inches short of Dom Sibley's fingers at second slip.

The loose ball allows a single and Lancashire's total reaches three figures.

  20. Postpublished at 12:43 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    Derbys 429 & 15-0 v Glamorgan 168 & 287 - Target 27

Derbyshire reach the halfway point of their chase in four overs.

Fraser Sheat and Kiran Carlson did open the bowling but Sam Northeast is now on.

I don't think it is unfair to say the man with just one first class wicket isn't a pretty bowler.

He almost picks up a second as Luis Reece wafts outside off stump.
