    Durham 531-7 dec v Notts 229 & 279-8 (f-o)

    Precious runs for Nottinghamshire.

Olly Stone is fed up with blocking and plays a glorious shot as he turns Bas de Leede through midwicket for four. A single then takes the paceman to 28.

Lyndon James then squirts the next ball for four down to third man.

But then a drop! James gloves one down legside and wicketkeeper Ollie Robinson gets a paw on it, but the ball is jarred out of his hands as he falls to earth.

It would have been a super catch, but James has a life.

He then cashes in with a four off Callum Parkinson to take the deficit down to 23.

    Surrey 444-9 dec v Lancs 204 & 96-5

You don't see that very often.

Dan Worrall strays onto leg stump and Venkatesh Iyer whips it away over square leg for six.

Lancashire need another 144 to avoid an innings defeat.

Rishi Patel is dismissedImage source, Rex Features

Rishi Patel tries to repeat his six in the previous over off Ollie Price, but this time gets a little more vertical elevation and Dom Goodman takes a good catch in the deep.

Patel may feel there was a hundred there for the taking, but he is gone.

Lewis Hill comes out to join Ian Holland, who has 42, following his century in the first innings.

  6. rain stops play

Rain stops playpublished at 12:35 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    Hants 125-2 v Essex 438-8d

There are blue skies above, but the grey clouds around them are depositing some more rain.

It isn't particularly heavy, but bad enough for the covers to be needed.

We shouldn't be off for too long.

  7. wicket

WICKET Libby b Garrett 12published at 12:31 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    Worcs 33-2 v Kent - target 101

First bowling change for Kent as George Garrett replaces Grant Stewart at the Diglis End.

He takes just three balls to find the edge of Jake Libby's bat, but it flies past second slip down for another four. How's your luck?

But that is OUT, OUT, OUT!

Garrett gets one to shape back a little and it smacks into the top of off as Libby shoulders arms. A misjudgment from the Pears opener.

Worcs need 68 more and Rob Jones is in.

  8. Derbyshire's chase beginspublished at 12:31 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    Derbys 429 & 1-0 v Glamorgan 168 & 287

Only 27 needed for victory and Harry Came eases the first ball into the off side with the first ball.

Luis Reece is opening up with Came.

The question is how quickly can Derbyshire reach the total? Four overs? Five perhaps?

  9. wicket

WICKET Balderson c Sibley b Worrall 4published at 12:30 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    Surrey 444-9 dec v Lancs 204 & 82-5

    Dan WorrallImage source, Rex Features

Dan Worrall returns for a new spell after his two wickets in successive balls earlier this morning.

He finds a bit of extra bounce with his final delivery of the over, George Balderson is unable to get on top of it and edges to second slip.

Writing on the wall now for Lancashire.

  10. wicket

    Warwickshire 337 & 261-9 v Somerset 238

A fourth of the morning for the Somerset spinner who now has 4-71.

Hannon-Dalby reaches for a sweep well outside off stump and James Rew juggles the catch, taking it at the second attempt.

Postpublished at 12:30 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    Glos 544-4 dec v Leics 402 & 141-0

Spinner Ollie Price starts a new over.

Rishi Patel is down the track and lofts over wide mid-on for six.

He moves to 74 not out.

  12. 50 runs

for Toby Albertpublished at 12:29 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    Hants 120-2 v Essex 438-8d

You can't say Toby Albert hasn't taken his chance while opening this season since Ali Orr's injuries.

He has added a half-century to the 114 he scored against Surrey in May - with an impressive Blast campaign in the middle.

Albert started extremely watchfully in this innings - with a draw or defeat Hampshire's only realistic results - but has come out of his shell with some more adventurous shots this morning.

  15. Postpublished at 12:25 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    Worcs 29-1 v Kent - target 101

    Nice shot, Jake Libby.

The Worcs opener gets on the front foot to Grant Stewart and drives through the covers.

It's overhauled just short of the rope and two more runs are knocked off the chase.

He and Kashif Ali then trade singles off Akeem Jordan before Ali edges through the slips, all along the ground, to the third man boundary.

    Just 72 required.

  16. Postpublished at 12:24 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    Surrey 444-9 dec v Lancs 204 & 80-4

Matty Hurst has been Lancashire's best batsman in this match and there's another pleasant off-drive which brings him four runs off Jordan Clark, despite the best efforts of Rory Burns to cut it off.

  17. Postpublished at 12:24 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    Warwickshire 337 & 255-8 v Somerset 238

Warwickshire appear content to take overs out of this game.

A couple of elegant cover drives by Michael Burgess off Kasey Aldridge pushes the lead to 353 with 77 overs to come today.

Taking off two for the change of innings if the hosts declared now it would leave Somerset needing 4.6 or 4.7ish per over.

  18. Postpublished at 12:22 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    Durham 531-7 dec v Notts 229 & 260-8 (f-o)

Lyndon James looks to drive Callum Parkinson but it narrowly misses the edge and scoots low through the legs of wicketkeeper Ollie Robinson for four byes.

Bas de Leede replaces Ben Raine and we'll have some more of the short stuff to dislodge the set men.

He's called for a no-ball and Olly Stone then pushes for a single to move to 19.

    Notts trail by 42.

  19. WICKET Douthwaite b Reece 20published at 12:19 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

  20. Postpublished at 12:18 British Summer Time 25 August 2024

    Surrey 444-9 dec v Lancs 204 & 75-4

Nice shot by George Balderson, who opens his account with a punch square of the wicket off the back foot at the start of a new Tom Lawes over.

A bouncer flies harmlessly over his head to end it. Partner Matty Hurst is 16 not out.
