  1. Hard graft ahead for Hants and Durham

    Hampshire 503 v Durham 410-8

    Heading into the final day at Utilita Bowl, here is a match screaming 'draw' barring something very much out of the ordinary.

    A little under 287 overs across three days have yielded 913 runs for the loss of 18 wickets.

    Durham trail by 93 with their last two wickets in hand, but Ben Raine and Callum Parkinson's unbroken stand of 48 from a shade less than 20 overs was not a sign of a team wanting to get on with things.

    Last year's Division Two champions will probably be happy with the eight points for a draw plus bonuses.

    Hampshire, ninth at the start of this round, would probably love to push for a little more.

  2. Weather outlook

    Last night's 10 o'clock news forecast suggested that rain should stay in the west and north west today - which is good news as there are no games ongoing at Cardiff, Bristol, Edgbaston, Old Trafford etc.

    The latest update via BBC Weather's X feed says: "It's all change for our weather in the next 24 hours. Rain warnings are coming into play for southwest England, Wales and Northern Ireland."

    Fingers crossed that there will be no interruptions in our five games, which are helpfully all located in the South, South East and East Midlands.

    The Bard's home county, Warwickshire, though, need intervention from the elements or a miraculous bowling display if they are to avoid being beaten at The Oval today.
