If you want something to read over lunch, we recommend an article by Evie Ashton about Derbyshire skipper David Lloyd.

He talks candidly about how the county schedule forced him to consider retirement during his final years with Glamorgan.

“I still go through things mentally, but I know how to deal with it. I know that I can speak to people and be more open about having a bad day or having those feelings again," the 31-year old says.

  3. 'Pennington is on you all the time'published at 13:08 British Summer Time 13 May 2024

    Notts 503 v Lancashire 331 & 198-8 - lunch

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

Dillon Pennington has had a fabulous game.

He's bowled beautifully and he's just on you all the time.

He's bowled with good pace and he looks pretty sharp.

  4. Lunch at Utilita Bowlpublished at 13:06 British Summer Time 13 May 2024

    Hampshire 503 & 34-2 v Durham 432

Hampshire reach lunch two down after the early loss of both openers.

James Vince and Felix Organ, especially, have dropped anchor, as Durham to their credit, have bowled very accurately to try to make something happen.

The Rose and Crown lead by 105 so anything other than a draw is very unlikely, but a quick 'bang, bang' after lunch could change things.

  5. Lunch at Trent Bridgepublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 13 May 2024

    Notts 503 v Lancashire 331 & 198-8

We are in the last over before lunch and after needing a bit of treatment, Matty Hurst unfurls a gorgeous flick through midwicket for four.

He heads to lunch on 64 not out, and has batted excellently this morning.

But just when the Red Rose looked like they may get to lunch only six down, Tom Hartley and Tom Bailey fell in relatively quick succession.

Notts need to grab these final two wickets before knocking off the deficit - currently 26 - for their first win of the season.

  6. Lunch at Northamptonpublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 13 May 2024

    Northants 171 & 225-4 v Gloucestershire 409 & 319-5 dec

No concussion, thankfully, so Karun Nair gallantly bats on.

The next ball - predictably - is another short one from de Lange, but this time Nair gets right underneath it.

One more delivery negotiated and that is lunch, which arrives with Nair 39 not out and George Bartlett on 19.

Northants have added 81 during the morning for the loss of George Scrimshaw and Luke Procter. Gloucestershire will still be optimistic of winning this one.

  7. Lunch at Canterburypublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 13 May 2024

    Kent 407 & 18-1 v Worcestershire 618-7 dec

Worcestershire made a breakthrough in the mini-session before lunch by ousting England opener Zak Crawley cheaply and, for them, the equation is simple.

They need nine more wickets. There are 65 overs left in the day and Kent need 193 more runs just to make the visitors bat again.

Kent simply need to channel to spirit of Jack Leaning and stay out there all day if they are to avoid defeat.

  8. 'First four for Pennington in an innings for Notts'published at 13:00 British Summer Time 13 May 2024

    Notts 503 v Lancashire 331 & 190-8

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

That is the first time Dillon Pennington has taken four wickets for Nottinghamshire in an innings.

  9. Postpublished at 12:58 British Summer Time 13 May 2024

    Hampshire 503 & 34-2 v Durham 432

Great catch from Matt Potts at second slip.

He thinks James Vince has got something on an attempted sweep from Callum Parkinson, but crucially the umpire does not.

  10. Painful moment for Nairpublished at 12:57 British Summer Time 13 May 2024

    Northants 225-4 - target 558

Karun Nair has been excellent this morning - but he doesn't know a lot about that one as Marchant de Lange tests him out with a rapid bouncer.

It dings him on the helmet and after de Lange has checked on the India batter's condition, the Northants physio comes out to do the same.

Looks like a new helmet may be required. Two are brought out - even if Nair had somehow been wearing two, that would still have hurt.

  11. wicket

WICKET Bailey lbw b Pennington 10published at 12:53 British Summer Time 13 May 2024

    Notts 503 v Lancashire 331 & 190-8

    No doubts about this one.

Tom Bailey plays a beautiful back-foot cut shot off Dillon Pennington for four.

But the bowler exacts full revenge next ball with one that cuts back in, keeps a touch low and hits Bailey on the pads.

The finger goes up, and Notts need two more to finish the innings.

  12. Postpublished at 12:50 British Summer Time 13 May 2024

    Northants 218-4 - target 558

George Bartlett tries to pull a short one from Marchant de Lange and an under-edge is perilously close to the stumps.

Another bouncer follows, but this time the right-hander decides discretion is the wiser option and ducks underneath it.

Two overs, two maidens in this spell from de Lange.

  13. Postpublished at 12:47 British Summer Time 13 May 2024

    Northants 218-4 - target 558

Northants won't want to see much more of that.

Zafar Gohar finds a bit of turn and the ball keeps low, but George Bartlett somehow manages to squeeze it away for a single.

About 15 minutes to go to lunch and they need Bartlett and Karun Nair still together when the session ends.

  14. Four close catcherspublished at 12:46 British Summer Time 13 May 2024

    Hampshire 503 & 27-2 v Durham 432

Callum Parkinson has been given full backing from captain Scott Borthwick.

The slow left-armer has bowled all seven overs and he has the wicketkeeper, two slips and a silly point in place.

Can he reward that backing with a wicket or two?

  15. wicket

WICKET: Crawley c Roderick b Holder 10published at 12:43 British Summer Time 13 May 2024

    Kent 407 & 13-1 v Worcestershire 618-7 dec

    Worcestershire have their breakthrough.

Zak Crawley edges behind to the keeper off Jason Holder. Another short stint. A seemingly half-hearted push forward in defence to one outside off finds the edge and Gareth Roderick takes a neat catch diving to his right.

Crawley cuts a disconsolate figure as he lopes off.

Jack Leaning might have to put those pads back on if he is going to bat at four.

Daniel Bell-Drummond joins Ben Compton. Kent are still 198 behind.

  16. Long wait for de Lange overpublished at 12:42 British Summer Time 13 May 2024

    Northants 216-4 - target 558

With just over 20 minutes to go before lunch, Gloucestershire finally turn to Marchant de Lange, their quickest bowler.

Sporting his usual UK National Service haircut, the big South African pounds in and forces George Bartlett onto the back foot.

Nothing to drive here. It's a maiden.

  17. Hants going nowherepublished at 12:40 British Summer Time 13 May 2024

    Hampshire 503 & 23-2 v Durham 432

We have had 12 overs of this Hampshire innings and James Vince and Felix Organ are in full defensive mode.

Their lead is 94, and they are being very careful to make sure they don't get themselves into trouble before lunch.

  18. Postpublished at 12:39 British Summer Time 13 May 2024

    Northants 216-4 - target 558

Having been dismissed first ball in the first innings, it looks like Karun Nair is intent on showing Gloucestershire just what he is capable of today.

Two steps down the wicket and he lifts Zafar Gohar back over his head for four runs.

The left-armer, though continues to give the ball some air and is achieving a little of drift in towards the right-hander.

If he can manage to run one or two away off the pitch, this contest could become very interesting.

  19. Careful!published at 12:38 British Summer Time 13 May 2024

    Notts 503 v Lancashire 178-7

Tom Bailey pushes his second ball out into the offside and takes off for a single.

Jack Haynes swoops on it and throws at the batter's end - it misses but Matty Hurst would probably have been a goner if that had hit.

That would have been disastrous for Lancashire.

  20. wicket

WICKET Hartley c Harrison b James 50published at 12:34 British Summer Time 13 May 2024

    Notts 503 v Lancashire 331 & 177-7

Tom Hartley gets to 50, but no more.

After 90 minutes of good resistance this morning, Hartley succumbs as he is tempted into a drive off Lyndon James.

The ball flies to Calvin Harrison at second slip and he makes no mistake.

Notts will sense an opening now.
