    It's a horrible drop.

Feet and arms everywhere and, crucially, the ball ends up on the turf. I'm afraid that is pretty awful cricket.

  2. dropped catch

Verma dropped on fourpublished at 1.4 overs

    Ind 15-0

    Should have taken.

Shafali Verma gets off the mark by tucking Lauren Filer around the corner for four, but sends the next delivery spiralling in the air with a top edge to a short ball.

Lauren Bell is under it on the ropes at third, but spills the ball as it comes down right on top of her, seeing it dribble away for four more to boot.

England's seamers are quicker than India's so it'll be interested to see how much pace and carry there is in this pitch.

The signs have been encouraging so far.

  4. Ind 5-0published at 1 over

Lauren Bell, who impressed with figures of 2-17 at Bristol on Tuesday, closes her first over by twice beating the bat of Shafali Verma.

Verma only scored 20 and three as India comfortably won the first two matches of this series - she'll be keen on a good score tonight.

  5. Ind 4-0published at 0.2 overs

Lauren Bell to open the bowling for England.

Smriti Mandhana, a centurion in the first match of this series, swats the second delivery of the innings behind square for four.

Thanks Ffion, I look forward to hearing your mellifluous tones shortly.

That was quite hectic, wasn't it?

Anyway, no time to take a breather, England are in a huddle on the boundary.

    I need a lie down.

Well, not quite. I'm off for a stint on the radio instead, but I'll leave you in the hands of Mike Peter to try and explain that innings, and take you through India's chase.

    Enjoy!

That was a good score, but they lost all that momentum. They needed someone like Nat Sciver-Brunt or Heather Knight to tuck in to the platform they built. They should be past 180, I'm a little worried about this series staying alive, but England are due a good bowling performance.

  11. Eng 171-9published at 20 overs

    And that is that.

Charlie Dean and Lauren Bell sprint two off the final ball and England end up with 171-9.

From the brilliant to the bizarre.

Lauren Bell and Lauren Filer should never having to be bat in a T20 ever, the percentage should be so low. And you look at the wickets they're batting on, The Oval, Trent Bridge... you shouldn't be getting past six.

    Lauren Bell survives.

I'm sure Lauren Bell when England were 136 without loss wasn't thinking about getting padded-up to bat.

    Erm.

This has been quite... something. We have another hat-trick ball, as Lauren Filer also departs first ball having been caught by Smriti Mandhana at mid-wicket.

  16. wicket

    Right on cue...

Full and straight from Deepti Sharma, and chipped straight back to her.

Sophie Ecclestone is turning into a brilliant finisher for England. In the first 10 balls of her innings in T20I cricket, she strikes at 130, higher than any player in the England squad.

Dunkley caught and bowled by Sharma for 75

It was Dunkley's dismissal for 75 which kickstarted the collapse for England.

    They've gone from 137-0 to 167-7.

You can read this script. You go that long without losing a wicket, and then expect people to come in and smack it when the fielders are out and the bowlers have the pace of the wicket.

Charlie Dean survives... and edges for four.

    And breathe.
