Oh, hello! Kamran Ghulam springs into life.

The debutant gives a glimpse of what he has to offers by skipping down the track and smashing the ball back over Jack Leach's head to end the over.

A first six in Test cricket for Ghulam.

Jack Leach has taken two wickets inside the first 10 overs. The last England spinner to do that was Johnny Briggs in 1889.

Crawley in the perfect position! I'd love to know how many wickets England have taken through Stokes' proactive field placings rather than reactive ones. What a reader of the game.

  5. Pak 27-2published at 13 overs

Big turn for Shoaib Bashir early in the over to beat a big sweep from Saim Ayub. Well taken by Jamie Smith, too.

A slight drag down releases the pressure on the left-hander as he cuts for two and Kamran Ghulam then sweeps to end the over.

The ball was aerial but was in front of square and well clear on the man in the deep. Still just a single.

  6. Pak 23-2published at 12 overs

    Superb from Jack Leach.

He's found his groove, buoyed by those two early wickets, and it feels like a third might not be far away.

It's bounce rather than turn that causes problems for Saim Ayub early in the over as the ball pops up, hits the glove but goes just wide of the diving Ollie Pope at short leg.

A couple of balls later, Kamran Ghulam prods forward and gets an inside edge. This time it's just short of Pope.

    Getting closer.

It's a very small sample size so far, but England's spinners have found more turn on average today in the five overs so far than they did in the entire first Test.

    England spinners' average turn:

    Today: 3.24°

    First Test: 2.87°

  8. Pak 22-2published at 11 overs

A couple of singles from the over but Shoaib Bashir has started well here.

There was talk that he needed to bowl a more attacking line, slightly wider of off stump to the right-handers, and already we've seen him try that to Kamran Ghulam.

He's bowled well but, so far, the wickets have come at the other end.

Are there many tougher jobs in Pakistan than replacing Babar Azam, even an out of form one?

Well that task falls to 29-year-old Kamran Ghulam today.

Ghulam is making his Test debut, having been in squads previously without winning a cap.

He has made one 50-over appearance for Pakistan but that was as a concussion substitute and he did not bat. This is his full international debut.

Ghulam has been picked on the back of a strong domestic record.

He averages 49.17 and was one of the leading run-scorers in Pakistan's first-class competition last year with three centuries.

He does play T20s in the Pakistan Super League but is primarily a red-ball batter.

Ghulam has had spells playing club cricket in England - for Haslingden in the Lancashire league and Burslem in the North Staffordshire and South Cheshire league.

  10. Pak 20-2published at 10 overs

With Pakistan already wobbling slightly, in walks debutant Kamran Ghulam, Babar Azam's replacement.

Slightly streaky but he's off the mark first ball with a thick outside edge that runs away square.

It is slightly more aggresive from Shan Masood. He is looking to knock it down the ground, it turns and he hits it a lot squarer.

Straight to Zak Crawley who takes a decent catch. This wicket has got turn and it has got turn early.

    Jack Leach has another!

Shan Masood comes and goes quickly as he plays out in front of his body and turns the ball to mid-wicket.

It's a very good catch from Zak Crawley. He's a tall man but swoops to get his fingers under the ball just in time.

What a start for Leach and England.

The only time since 1925 that an England spinner has struck earlier in an opening innings of a Test match is when Leach got Abdullah Shafique out in Karachi two years ago in the sixth over.

  14. Pak 17-1published at 9 overs

    Nice again from Shoaib Bashir.

It's early days but the off-spinner already looks to be showing more control than in the first Test.

No big spin in this over. We are still only nine overs into the Test so you wouldn't expect it to be turning square but there is definitely enough to keep the spinners interested.

Shoaib Bashir continues and he's now got two left-handers to bowl at...

  17. Pak 16-1published at 8 overs

Big appeal from England as Shan Masood misses a sweep and is struck on the pad first ball.

Nothing doing, though, the Pakistan skipper got himself well outside the line.

A misfield allows Masood a single to get off the mark but it's a successful over for Jack Leach and England are up and running.

    Of course it's Jack Leach.

He had a knack in the last Test for picking up wickets. This one is straighter than the previous delivery and it pitches middle of off stump. It stays slightly low which is encouraging as an England bowler.

A great delivery to break this partnership.

    Bowled 'im with a beauty!

Superb from Jack Leach. He beat the bat with a slightly wider delivery the ball previous but this has turned off the straight.

Pitching on middle and off, the ball grips and turns to beat Abdullah Shafique as he pushes forward before thumping into off stump.

Brilliant bowling and this track is turning on the first morning.

I've just learned to calm down and trust to Bazball these days so this isn't really an emotional thought emotion but was there an argument to pick Rehan as well in this match and drop Pope harsh as it would have been?
