I think the cracks will play a part. I think Pakistan have gambled a little bit with the one seamer [Aamir Jamal].

  2. Potts back for Englandpublished at 05:56 British Summer Time 15 October

We've spoken about the Pakistan changes and the fact that Ben Stokes has returned to lead England.

But the second change to the tourists' XI sees Matthew Potts come in to play his ninth Test - and his first away from home.

He'll hope this used surface offers a tad more for the bowlers than it did first time around.

Well, maybe seven or eight of them...

So far, so good for Pakistan. They've gone all in in the pitch and their team and have got the rub of the coin toss. My take? It possibly won't play too unusually at the beginning of the match, but could unravel very quickly.

One very tiny thing to notice. Brydon Carse is up to number eight for England. Even though he batted below Gus Atkinson during the last Test, Carse is probably a better bat. He could be an option for that spot during the Ashes.

  5. No Babar, Shaheen or Naseem for Pakistanpublished at 05:47 British Summer Time 15 October

It is just a few days since the end of the first Test but Pakistan have been busy in the interim.

A new selection committee, that includes former skipper Azhar Ali and ex-international umpire Aleem Dar, has been appointed.

Their deliberations ended with Kamran Ghulam being handed a debut but the headline news was the decision to leave out big name trio Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah.

Babar has been short of runs, while Shaheen looked some way off his best in the first game but both remain class acts.

As for Naseem, he is also a fantastic bowler and performed admirably in the first Test - but clearly the selectors disagree.

Anyway, a huge call from the PCB. Let's see if it pays off...

  6. 'We have all bases covered'published at 05:45 British Summer Time 15 October

England captain Ben Stokes: "All good. We would’ve batted as well [if we won the toss].

"It was an amazing victory last week. Getting put in the field straight away and bowling the way we did in the first innigns set the tone.

"Rooty [Joe Root] and Brooky [Harry Brook] had some unbelievable knocks and the way the bowlers set the game up for us in the first day-and-a-half allowed us to bat really big.

"We feel we have all bases covered, we have three spinners and then the three seam options."

  7. 'There's rejuvenated energy in the camp'published at 05:42 British Summer Time 15 October

Pakistan captain Shan Masood: “We will have a bat with the condition of the pitch. I just want to put a good score on the board and see how we play in the next few days.

“Firstly, playing a Test matches with Pakistan whoever you play is the biggest opportunity for anyone that's a cricketer. We are all excited and there is rejuvenated energy in the camp. We can control what we do on the field end and we are very positive.

“The spinners, they get the conditions, and we have decent spinners in the line-up. The main task in Test cricket is taking 20 wickets and hopefully we can do that.”

On debutant Kamran Ghulam: “It is very heart-warming. He has finally got his chance and we hope he has a memorable debut.”

Sticking with the theme of same again, the hosts win the toss and will bat first.

Their first-innings 556 was not enough last time out, they'll hope on a pitch already used for four and a bit days, a similar total might lead to a more positive result.

After England's record-breaking win over Pakistan in Multan last week, it's time to do it all over again!

Yes, there is likely to be a familiar feel to this second Test with the game not only taking place at the same venue but on the very same pitch.

The biggest changes come in the two XIs with Ben Stokes back to captain England, while Pakistan have taken the bold decision to leave out three of their star men.

More on that shortly but first it's time for the toss...
