There has been some cracking County Championship action over a largely sun-soaked weekend, the rainy ending at Edgbaston apart.

Warwickshire are second in Division One behind leaders Notts following their draw with Surrey - for whom Ben Foakes hit a career-best 174 not out - with Sussex now third after beating Worcestershire.

It went down to a nail-biting final ball at Chelmsford where Essex's last-wicket pair denied Yorkshire a second win of the season.

You can find the latest Division One table here.

We will back on Friday morning for round seven, with a full complement of nine games. Join us again then.

  3. 'Yorkshire couldn't have done much more'published at 18:08 British Summer Time 12 May

    Essex 123 & 273-9 v Yorks 216 & 426-6 dec

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

Collectively I don't think Yorkshire could've done much more, with the conditions out there at their disposal.

Essex really couldn't do more than they did and they have earned every single point.

It is a genuinely shared draw.

  4. ESSEX DRAW WITH YORKSHIREpublished at 18:03 British Summer Time 12 May
    Breaking

    Essex 123 & 273-9 v Yorks 216 & 426-6 dec

There's no winner - but what a finish!

Simon Harmer and Jamie Porter hang on for 13.4 overs to frustrate Yorkshire and secure a draw that looked almost inconceivable at the start of the day.

  5. 'Seven men around the bat'published at 18:02 British Summer Time 12 May

    Essex 123 & 273-9 v Yorks 216 & 426-6 dec

    Jonathan Doidge

There are seven men around the bat and are close in.

They are really close in scattered all around the bat.

Simon Harmer defends again. Two balls left...

  7. Postpublished at 18:01 British Summer Time 12 May

    Essex 273-9 v Yorks

Jamie Porter nudges Dan Moriarty for a single from the first ball of the over and Yorkshire now have SEVEN fielders around the bat for these last five balls.

  8. Postpublished at 17:59 British Summer Time 12 May

    Essex 272-9 v Yorks

One last effort from George Hill, who has bowled so well in this match for Yorkshire and is brought back for what will now be the penultimate over.

Jamie Porter defends the first three balls, then steers a single behind point to get off the mark from his 33rd delivery.

Porter has clearly grown in confidence during this innings - he'll be on strike for the last over because Simon Harmer straight drove Hill's last ball to the boundary.

    Six balls left!

  9. 'Yorkshire have turned to Hill'published at 17:58 British Summer Time 12 May

    Essex 123 & 267-9 v Yorks 216 & 426-6 dec

    Victoria Polley
    BBC Essex Sports Editor

Five minutes to go and they have turned to George Hill, who already has nine wickets.

Every ball that is defended by Essex, is going to get an applause from the Chelmsford crowd.

  10. Postpublished at 17:55 British Summer Time 12 May

    Essex 267-9 v Yorks

Now it's Dan Moriarty's turn to feel frustration as his impassioned lbw appeal against Simon Harmer is turned down by umpire Steve O'Shaughnessy.

Harmer rocks onto the back foot and cuts Moriarty's next ball for four, then plays out the rest of the over - and the clock is ticking.

Five minutes or so to go.

  11. Postpublished at 17:52 British Summer Time 12 May

    Essex 263-9 v Yorks

Dom Bess is crouched on the ground, almost Basil Fawlty style, as he bemoans his luck.

The off-spinner got one to fizz right through the defences of Jamie Porter, but somehow the ball sails over the stumps and still Essex hold out.

  12. Postpublished at 17:50 British Summer Time 12 May

    Essex 259-9 v Yorks

Simon Harmer is surrounded by close fielders as he faces Dan Moriarty once again, repelling everything the left-armer can throw at him.

As is now the pattern, the fielders fan out after the fourth ball and Harmer doesn't attempt a single.

Can Yorkshire yet find a way through?

  13. Tension is rising...published at 17:48 British Summer Time 12 May

    Essex 123 & 259-9 v Yorks 216 & 426-6 dec

    Victoria Polley
    BBC Essex Sports Editor

You can really feel the tension growing around Chelmsford at the moment.

There is still 15 minutes till 6pm, there is still time for more than the minimum overs to come.

  14. Postpublished at 17:47 British Summer Time 12 May

    Essex 259-9 v Yorks

Dom Bess tosses the ball up a little more, trying to deceive Jamie Porter, but the Essex no 11 is dealing with this pressure situation admirably.

We're now playing out time, rather than required overs - it's a case of how many more Yorkshire can get in before 6pm.

  15. Postpublished at 17:45 British Summer Time 12 May

Essex 259-9 v Yorks (Min 1 over remaining)

Simon Harmer jabs down on one from Dan Moriarty and the ball spins through to Jonny Bairstow, but it can't have been too far away from off stump.

Again Bairstow moves the field back to deny Harmer a single - Yorkshire want another go at Jamie Porter an they'll get it.

  16. Postpublished at 17:43 British Summer Time 12 May

Essex 259-9 v Yorks (Min 2 overs remaining)

Another maiden from Dom Bess, neatly played out by Jamie Porter.

At least two more overs to go, but they can continue until 6pm so there could easily be five or six with the spinners on.

  17. 'Run down the clock'published at 17:42 British Summer Time 12 May

    Essex 123 & 259-9 v Yorks 216 & 426-6 dec

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

You can imagine there will be some chats in the middle saying, 'just run down the clock'.

However, I wouldn't rule out George Hill having a go.

  18. Postpublished at 17:41 British Summer Time 12 May

Essex 259-9 v Yorks (Min 3 overs remaining)

Simon Harmer has the chance for runs early in Dan Moriarty's over, but he doesn't take them and Jonny Bairstow moves the field back to try and deny Harmer the single.

Harmer cuts and the ball races to the boundary - which means Jamie Porter will be on strike next over.

  19. Postpublished at 17:38 British Summer Time 12 May

Essex 255-9 v Yorks (Min 4 overs remaining)

Simon Harmer wasn't able to retain the strike from the previous George Hill over, so Jamie Porter is forced to face a full over from Dom Bess.

A couple turn, but Porter deals with them competently and Yorkshire remain one wicket away.

  20. Who can win it for Yorkshire?published at 17:35 British Summer Time 12 May

    Essex 123 & 255-9 v Yorks 216 & 426-6 dec

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

Essex are getting closer, but Yorkshire still need one wicket taking delivery to take the game.

Who might be able to supply that wicket for them?
