  1. Top overpublished at 14 overs

    Somerset v Surrey 111-5

Lewis Gregory concedes just a single off that over and picks up the wicket of the set batter in Dom Sibley.

Super stuff from the Somerset skip.

  2. Not outpublished at 13.5 overs

    Somerset v Surrey 111-5

No! A clear inside edge from Tom Curran saves him.

  3. Umpire reviewpublished at 13.5 overs

    Somerset v Surrey 111-5

Has Lewis Gregory got Tom Curran LBW second ball?

  4. wicket

WICKET Sibley c Dickson b Gregory 48published at 13.3 overs

    Somerset v Surrey 111-5

This is a captain's performance from Lewis Gregory!

Back in for his third over, Gregory has Dom Sibley caught in the deep as the opener goes for a big one over midwicket.

A third victim to go with his run out, this is top stuff from the all-rounder.

Sibley had batted very nicely, but his anchoring of the Surrey innings has ended.

  5. Spin to win?published at 11:55 British Summer Time 14 September

    Somerset v Surrey 110-4

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

The way van der Merwe has been bowling also supports the theory that pace off is the way to go on this pitch.

Mark Davis: If Somerset get through I would certainly consider two spinners in the final.

Lewis Goldsworthy, back from his successful loan at Leicestershire, or Jack Leach the two spin options with Shoaib Bashir having barely played for Somerset this season.

  6. Postpublished at 13 overs

    Somerset v Surrey 110-4

The end of Roelof van der Merwe's spell. He has whizzed through his four overs, giving up 27 runs with very few fireworks off his bowling.

New batter Laurie Evans has settled himself in with a couple of singles.

  7. 'Out by some distance'published at 11:54 British Summer Time 14 September

I think Burns is out by a foot and a half here. He is walking off.

He was out by some distance, there really wasn't a run there. Burns had done a job of sorts there, after they had lost two in two.

  8. wicket

WICKET Burns run out (Gregory) 14published at 12.2 overs

    Somerset v Surrey 105-4

Not too much doubt about this one.

The single from Dom Sibley was never on and Lewis Gregory's sharp throw to the wicketkeeper's end leaves Rory Burns short.

It was a slightly awkward 14 from 12 balls for Burns.

  9. Umpire reviewpublished at 12.2 overs

    Somerset v Surrey 105-3

Rory Burns does not look completely comfortable out there. Not sure this is his natural environment.

And he could be a goner here as Dom Sibley calls him through for a single!

  10. Postpublished at 12 overs

    Somerset v Surrey 104-3

A really authoritative shot from Dom Sibley as he crunches a pull shot for four off the last ball of Ben Green's first over.

A bonus for Surrey. A pity for Somerset.

  11. 100 runs

100 up for Surreypublished at 11.5 overs

    Somerset v Surrey 100-3

Rory Burns mistimes a pull shot into the legside. He gets one and that brings up the 100.

  12. 'Somerset are fighting back.'published at 11:48 British Summer Time 14 September

    Mark Davis
Former Somerset seamer on BBC Radio Somerset

From where they started, they were looking at 200, very ominous.

    But Somerset are fighting back.

Sibley still looking to play the anchor role, but his strike-rate is still pretty good.

  13. Postpublished at 11.2 overs

    Somerset v Surrey 97-3

Lewis Gregory takes himself off and brings on Ben Green.

An impressive mullet and moustache combo for Green, think of an Australian from the mid-eighties!

    Early years Merv Hughes, maybe?

  14. Postpublished at 11 overs

    Somerset v Surrey 95-3

Nice use of the feet from Dom Sibley with a shot through the offside for four off Roelof van der Merwe.

Just wide of a fielder at cover and the man on the fence - perfect placement!

Sibley and Rory Burns accumulate nine from the over.

  15. Halfway markpublished at 10 overs

    Somerset v Surrey 86-3

Surrey's red-ball captain Rory Burns slaps one away to point off Somerset counterpart Lewis Gregory. A welcome boundary.

That is the only big shot as the two sides reach the halfway point.

    Who will be happier?

  16. 'Sun poking through the clouds'published at 11:41 British Summer Time 14 September

    Somerset v Surrey 78-3

    Chris Peddy
    BBC Sport at Edgbaston

Lewis Gregory got the crowd going for the biggest cheer of the day as he ran in for his hat-trick ball.

Had Surrey's Rory Burns gone that could have been a huge wicket for Somerset.

Edgbaston is filling up nicely with the sun shining through the clouds at times.

Plenty of people in early to almost catch a hat-trick before we even get to midday.

  17. England Test openers (circa 2020-21) battingpublished at 9 overs

    Somerset v Surrey 78-3

It's a repeat of the England Test opening partnership from 2020-21 and Surrey's regular four-day openers in Rory Burns and Dom Sibley at the wicket.

Time to restore a bit of order to this Surrey innings.

Seven off Roelof van der Merwe's second over.

  18. 'Pace off is the way to go'published at 11:36 British Summer Time 14 September

    Somerset v Surrey 71-3

    Dan Whiting
    BBC Radio London

I think pace off is the way to go here.

Any pace on the ball here you can use.

Warwickshire had five spinners in their side for the quarter-final here, that tells the story.

  19. Postpublished at 8 overs

    Somerset v Surrey 71-3

An inspired call and over from Lewis Gregory.

Two huge wickets in England's stand-in Test captain Ollie Pope and arguably England's Test player of the summer in Jamie Smith.

    Surrey's momentum definitely stalled.

  20. Hat-trick ballpublished at 7.5 overs

    Somerset v Surrey 70-3

New batter Rory Burns gets one past the solitary slip and away for a single.
