Beth Mooney is struggling to time it out there. It's not easy for Australia on this wicket, but Beth Mooney is so calm in a chase and she is not going to give her wicket away easily that's for sure.

  3. Aus 52-3published at 8 overs

Crikey, Beth Mooney is playing with fire somewhat.

She just about clears Priyadharshani at mid-on, with the ball running away for four.

Kumari sends down a full toss with her following delivery, and Mooney mistimes her shot even closer to the same fielder, the ball just about evading the flailing attempt at a catch, allowing the Australian pair to run two and bring up Australia's fifty.

  4. Aus 42-3published at 7 overs

Inoshi Priyadharshani returns, and Mooney turns her third delivery past fine leg for four.

It's a first boundary for the opener, who has watched her colleagues fall but will be hopeful of anchoring this innings to its conclusion.

Sri Lanka have bowled well so far. It's been a bit wavered with the left-hand and right-hand combination. But they are looking for wickets with Sugandika Kumari and Inoka Ranaweera, who have been the most prolific wicket-takers over the last few years, and they are getting them.

  6. Aus 35-3published at 6 overs

Ash Gardner is next up - she sees off the final three balls of the over without scoring.

That's the end of the powerplay - I'm not sure Australia would have expected it to play out in this fashion.

A terrible error of judgment from Ellyse Perry, she just wafted the bat at it. Maybe this isn't going to be as easy as Australia initially thought.

    WICKETpublished at 5.3 overs

    Perry b Kumari 17 (Aus 35-3)

A birthday wicket for Sugandika Kumari!

Ellyse Perry becomes the second Australian batter to be bowled, playing tentatively she sees the spinner's delivery beat her outside edge and rattle the stumps.

    Happy 34th, Sugandika!

  9. Aus 34-2published at 5 overs

A quieter remainder of the over, with Perry chipping over the covers for two.

This is a veteran Sri Lankan bowling attack, bar the 23-year-old Dilhari, their other three bowlers thus far are aged between 37-39.

They'll be hoping to exact their experience defending a low total.

I think Sri Lanka want to slow the game down by turning to Inoka Ranaweera, who is one of the slowest bowlers in their side. It seems they think they will have more of a chance if they slow things down slightly.

  11. Aus 30-2published at 4.2 overs

Ellyse Perry welcomes the introduction of Inoka Ranaweera by stepping down the pitch and clouting her down the ground for four.

She makes it consecutive boundaries by firing the second ball of the over through square leg.

  12. Aus 22-2published at 4 overs

Spin replaces spin as Kavisha Dilhari comes in for Priyadharshani after one over.

It's a tidy start for the 23-year-old, just a couple of singles from it.

  13. Aus 20-2published at 3 overs

Time for Ellyse Perry then... but could she be gone within two balls?

There's an appeal from keeper Anushka Sanjeewani for a nick behind, but Sri Lanka once again decide against reviewing it.

Perry continues and times the final ball of the over past third for four.

  14. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 2.1 overs

Wareham run out (Dilhari) 3 (Aus 14-1)

    Gone!

Beth Mooney knocked Prabodhani's delivery into the covers and set off for a quick single, but Kavisha Dilhari picked up well and threw a direct hit.

Wareham is a little short, and Australia are two down.

A brilliant piece of fielding! I think this could be out...

  16. Umpire reviewpublished at 2.1 overs

Hello, Georgia Wareham could be in trouble here.

The number three might be short running a single into the striker's end.

    We'll take a look.

  17. Aus 14-1published at 2 overs

Spin at the other end for Sri Lanka via the off-breaks of Inoshi Priyadharshani.

A couple of twos to start the over, which is closed by half an appeal after Wareham is struck on the pad.

They decide not to review it.

Australia will expect to chase this total down fairly quickly, but that won't stop Sri Lanka from trying to put some pressure on.

  19. Aus 8-1published at 1 over

    Huh, interesting.

Georgia Wareham is promoted up the order to bat at three - she defends the final two balls of the over.

Wickets in the powerplay are so important. You've got to keep Australia down and not let them get going, and this seems to be what Sri Lanka are doing. The Alyssa Healy wicket is big.
