Sri Lanka just haven't been able to get going today. They lost the huge wicket of Chamari Athapaththu early. They need to see if they can get above 100 so there's something to bat at, but it won't really be enough against that amazing Australia batting line-up.

  2. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 15.1 overs

    Hasini Perera c Gardner b Wareham (65-4)

Hasini Perera lifts a full-bunger from Georgia Wareham high to leg, but Ash Gardner runs around and takes the catch comfortably in the deep.

Hang on - was that an above the waist no ball? They're taking an age to decide.

Nope - good use of ball tracking, she's out.

  3. SL 61-4published at 14 overs

Georgia Wareham rips a leg-break just past Nilakshika Silva's outside edge, Alyssa Healy shouts but opts not to review after the umpire ignores the appeal. And she was right not to go upstairs - replays showed it didn't take the edge.

  4. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 13 overs

    Samarawickrama c & b Molineux 23 (SL 56-4)

The left-hander's decent knock comes to an end as she drives the ball straight back and Sophie Molineux nonchalantly takes a simple catch.

This is not Darcie Brown's day today. A sloppy bit of work from, usually, an elite fielding unit. Every cricketer has their bad day, and this is hers unfortunately.

Sri Lanka slumped to 25-3 after just under seven overs.

  7. dropped catch

    Dropped catchpublished at 12 overs

    SL 51-3

    Curse of the commentator!

Darcie Brown races in to a looping drive from Harshita Samarawickrama, but she drops the chance as she slides in from cover.

  8. SL 53-3published at 11.5 overs

More good work in the field as Darcie Brown stops a single and her diving throw at the non-striker just eludes the stumps with Nilakshika Silva short of her ground.

100 is looking like it might be a little bit too much of a push now for this Sri Lanka team.

  10. SL 50-3published at 11 overs

Good work by Ellyse Perry on the boundary, she hares off to her left to dive and prevent a four. She takes a chunk of the turf with her, but in the broiling heat she looks exhausted.

Three balls later she has to do the same, but at least without a dive this time. Fitness will be key in this compact tournament.

  11. SL 43-3published at 10 overs

Annabel Sutherland's seam bowling is next, she's edged by Nilakshika Silva towards third and the Sri Lankan batters do well to race through for that T20 rarity - a three.

That is half the innings done, so the players and umpires get a much-needed drink but with all the reviews, no balls and what-have-you, I think we're behind the clock a bit.

  12. SL 39-3published at 8.4 overs

More spin now as leg-spinner Georgia Wareham comes on.

First up is a full toss that Nilakshika Silva pats to leg, then an outside edge from Harshita Samarawickrama rips past Alyssa Healy's gloves for two as the ball pulls up short of the boundary on this slow outfield.

  13. Postpublished at 11:45 British Summer Time 5 October

The Sri Lanka skipper didn't last too long as Australia's good start continued.

You can see Australia are up and about in the field. They way that they move, you can see they believe they are the fittest team in the tournament. They have been the best in the world for so long and they have had a top-class start here today.

  15. SL 33-3published at 7.3 overs

Nilakshika Silva, a left-hander is next but her partner, Harshita Samarawickrama, is trying to get some momentum - she slaps Gardner past mid on for a rare boundary, then nurdles her to fine leg.

  16. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 6.4 overs

Kavisha Dilhari b lbw Molineux 5 (SL 25-3)

The 'spike' must have been an error, ball tracking shows the ball was on target and Sri Lanka lose their third wicket.

  17. Sri Lanka reviewpublished at 11:39 British Summer Time 5 October

    Houston, we have a problem.

There's a spike on Ultra Edge but the ball looks to be nowhere near the bat...

  18. Postpublished at 11:38 British Summer Time 5 October

    Tash Farrant
England bowler on BBC Test Match Special

Kavisha Dilhari does not look confident at all. This is a bad review if she knows she hasn't got any bat on it.

  19. Sri Lanka reviewpublished at 11:38 British Summer Time 5 October

It looked plumb, but the ball tracker is taking an age...

  20. Sri Lanka reviewpublished at 11:37 British Summer Time 5 October

Kavisha Dilhari sweeps Sophie Molineux, it hits the front pad and she's given out. After a long conflab, Sri Lanka opt for a review.
