    Derbys v Glamorgan 32-6

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Glamorgan were battered by Storm Zak in the first hour at Derby as Chappell charged in to claim 4-9 before the rain arrived.

Derbyshire fielded a bowling attack short of recent first-class wickets but Chappell and Luis Reece destroyed the visitors’ top order on a grey and windy morning as the ball swung consistently.

Ben Kellaway was given his first shot at opening for Glamorgan but became the first of three top-order ducks on the card.

Derbyshire have not won a Championship game at their headquarters since 2019, but must have high hopes of changing that.

Glamorgan new recruits Fraser Sheat (Canterbury) and Ned Leonard (Somerset, on loan) will have to hit the ground running with the ball if their team is to stay in the match.

    Durham 83-0 v Nottinghamshire

Ferocious cover drive from Ben McKinney off Lyndon James brings up his half century. It has come in 62 balls with eight boundaries. A good aggressive innings it has been too.

  3. Compton content to occupypublished at 12:26 British Summer Time 22 August

    Worcs v Kent 73-2

What a contrast between the Kent openers.

Tawanda Muyeye - now dismissed - went for his shots, but Ben Compton is intent on not playing anything he doesn't have to.

A James Hartshorn maiden ticks by and the left-hander is 10 not out from 48 balls faced, with no sign of a boundary thus far.

  4. Start imminent at Edgbastonpublished at 12:24 British Summer Time 22 August

    Warwickshire v Somerset

Blue sky overhead and no rain now. Covers are rolled up, the hover motor has sparked up and the rope is being dragged around with intent.

    This could be underway shortly.

  5. 50 runs

up for Lancashirepublished at 12:20 British Summer Time 22 August

    Surrey v Lanc 52-2

Tom Lawes goes a fraction straight and Rocky Flintoff whips him away to long leg for a single to go to double figures.

Lawes then oversteps before offering Josh Bohannon the chance to drive and he takes it with a sweet punch to the cover fence for four to bring the Lancs fifty up.

  6. Postpublished at 12:17 British Summer Time 22 August

    Durham 66-0 v Nottinghamshire

A change of pace from Notts as they look for that first breakthrough with Calvin Harrison's leg-spin brought into the attack in the 18th over.

Two in the over for Joe Leach.

Once again, it's Rob Jones who provides the safe pair of hands as Daniel Bell-Drummond departs for nought.

Jack Leaning takes two steps down the pitch to his first delivery before playing it defensively back to the bowler.

  8. wicket

WICKET Muyeye c Jones b Leach 56published at 12:13 British Summer Time 22 August

    Worcs v Kent 73-1

Joe Leach's first four overs cost 26 - perhaps not surprising given the length of his injury lay-off.

He's back for a second go now, though, and needs only one delivery to see off Tawanda Muyeye.

The Kent opener pushes forward in defence but there is enough movement to take the edge and Rob Jones grabs the catch moving to his left at second slip.

Worcestershire will be very pleased to see the back of him.

  9. rain stops play

Rain stops playpublished at 12:10 British Summer Time 22 August

    Derbyshire v Glamorgan 32-6

Boy did Glamorgan need something to stop their constant collapse. The rain has come to allow them to re-group and work out a plan of action against the rampant Zak Chappell (4-9) and Luis Reece (2-23).

  10. EARLY LUNCHpublished at 12:08 British Summer Time 22 August

    Yorks v Sussex 12-1

The rain continues to fall on North Marine so umpires Middlebrook and Lungley have decided to move lunch forward to 12:30 BST.

  11. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 12:08 British Summer Time 22 August

    Surrey v Lancs 39-2

Here's a mark of confidence as Rocky Flintoff takes a stride down the wicket to meet Tom Lawes and is beaten outside off.

He then has a walk at Sam Curran next over too and plays a loose drive outside off to be beaten again.

Curran goes round the wicket and another loose drive takes an inside edge towards square leg for a single.

A fraction skittish as Flintoff Sr watches on from a hospitality box.

A leg slip comes in and Josh Bahonnan clips one from round the wicket straight to the fielder but it's dropped down low!

  12. 50 runs

for Tawanda Muyeyepublished at 12:07 British Summer Time 22 August

    Worcs v Kent 73-0

If any England selectors - and Bazball fans - are watching Tawanda Muyeye this morning, they must be loving what they are seeing.

Another up and over the slips edge brings him four off Adam Finch before an orthodox cover drive takes him to his second Championship 50 of the season, this one from 62 balls.

He celebrates with a highly unorthodox straight bat jab over the covers for four to end another expensive over.

  13. 50 runs

50 up for Durhampublished at 12:05 British Summer Time 22 August

    Durham 57-0 Nottinghamshire

Two for Ben McKinney off Luke Fletcher brings up the half century for Durham's opening pair in the 15th over.

The visitors will be a touch disappointed with this start after winning the toss and electing to have a bowl.

  14. wicket

WICKET Cooke c Guest b Chappell 13published at 12:03 British Summer Time 22 August

    Derbyshire v Glamorgan 32-6

Aannndd another Glamorgan batter bites the dust, and it is an ugly one.

Zak Chappell sprays down the legside, Chris Cooke chases it, gets a tickle and Brooke Guest has a third catch. Cooke is currently his side's top scorer...with 13.

  15. 50 up for Kentpublished at 11:59 British Summer Time 22 August

    Worcs v Kent 57-0

A bowling change by Worcestershire as Adam Finch takes up the attack. Tawanda Muyeye 'throws the kitchen sink' at his third delivery and is fortunate to see a thick edge clear the slips and run away for four.

Finch's next one is short and the right-hander pulls it away in much better style before adding a third boundary to end the over and move to 41 not out.

  16. Postpublished at 11:59 British Summer Time 22 August

    Surrey v Lancs 37-2

Sam Curran has replaced Jordan Clark and Rocky Flintoff is lining him up from the Vauxhall End.

A slightly fuller one is pleasantly driven but straight to mid-off.

Another attempted drive squirts off an inside edge and Flintoff takes a single to long-leg.

Lights on and a stiff breeze blowing, this is a stern test for Flintoff and Josh Bohannon.

Dan Worrall takes a spell, seven overs for just nine runs.

So after a 30-minute delay, just 3.1 overs are possible before the rain returns. Ian Holland takes a single at the start of a new Dom Goodman over before the players trudge off. He is three not out and Rishi Patel has two.

  19. Postpublished at 11:50 British Summer Time 22 August

    Durham 39-0 v Nottinghamshire

Luke Fletcher's introduction stemmed the flow of Durham's runs his two maidens from two overs coming in a run of 21 dot balls for the visitors.

But Ben McKinney has had enough of standing still and has just hammered Stone for a couple of boundaries in a fifth over which goes for 11 again.

  20. wicket

WICKET Ingram c Guest b Reece 10published at 11:48 British Summer Time 22 August

    Derbyshire v Glamorgan 20-5

Luis Reece has his second now. It moves away from Colin Ingram beautifully - with the batter doing well to edge the ball behind.

The only good news for Derbyshire is that they are over their lowest first-class total of 16 - set in 1879!
