    Yorks v Sussex 30-2

A couple staying low, a couple jumping a tad. With the nip as well this is not a fun time to bat at Scarborough.

Plays and misses has been the story since Tom Clark's dismissal, with watchful endurance needed from Daniel Hughes and Tom Alsop.

The better news for Sussex is the sun that has burst through, which should, in theory, make things easier.

  2. Postpublished at 13:52 British Summer Time 22 August

    Middx v Northants 30-0

After driving the opening ball of the game for four, Prithvi Shaw has rather set the tone.

Ethan Bamber has twice been straight driven for four - the first of them in the air - and Toby Roland-Jones clipped through square leg and then driven past cover for further boundaries.

A very bright start for Northants having been sent in.

    Worcs v Kent 98-4

Joey Evison plays and misses at Adam Finch but doesn't learn the lesson. He again tries to drive the fifth ball of the opening over after lunch and edges through to the keeper.

Namesake Harry Finch comes out to join Ben Compton at the crease.

Rocky Flintoff gone first ball after lunch!

It's a full, wide one from Jordan Clark and Flintoff leans out to drive - but then changes his mind!

He tries to pull out but is through with the shot and with no power behind it, chips a catch to backward point where Sai Sudharsan holds the catch.

Perfect start to the afternoon for Surrey and the debut innings of 16-year-old Rocky Flintoff ends at 32.

But there was much promise this morning.

  5. Back underway at the Riversidepublished at 13:43 British Summer Time 22 August

    Durham 122-0 v Nottinghamshire

Leg-spinner Calvin Harrison kicks things off after lunch going for a single in the first over.

  6. Division Two updatepublished at 13:42 British Summer Time 22 August

Dan Douthwaite clips Zak Chappell through mid-wicket for four and then edges over the slips for another as Glamorgan reach 51-6 in the 21st over at Derby.

Back to back fours off Dom Goodman take Rishi Patel to 14 not out and Leicestershire to 17-0 in the seventh over of their rain-interrupted game at Bristol.

  7. Postpublished at 13:42 British Summer Time 22 August

    Yorks v Sussex 27-2

A first change of bowling from Yorkshire as George Hill enters the attack in place of Jordan Thompson (1-10 from five overs)

A loosener first up as Daniel Hughes takes the width and smashes it through the covers.

But afterwards, the fast bowler begins to build the pressure again, ending his six with one that wraps Hughes high on the pads.

  8. Lunch at Edgbastonpublished at 13:39 British Summer Time 22 August

    Warwickshire 56-1 v Somerset

That has been Warwickshire's 'mini' session with the hosts reaching 56-1 in 15 overs after a delayed start.

Somerset skipper Craig Overton's decision to insert was perhaps understandable given the conditions at the toss but batting has looked easier as the session progressed with 11 boundaries.

That one breakthrough, Alex Davies edging a loose ball from Kasey Aldridge to James Rew behind the stumps, does give Somerset something to build on when they come back from lunch.

  9. Flintoff 'not a bit out of place'published at 13:32 British Summer Time 22 August

    Surrey v Lancashire 98-3 - lunch

With half the side 23 years old or under, this really is a glimpse into the future of Lancashire cricket after they embarked on a transition season with senior players leaving or being phased out and youngsters being given a chance.

Two of the kids will have the task of resuming after lunch - on GCSE results day, 16-year-old Rocky Flintoff and 20-year-old Matthew Hurst face the toughest Championship test possible against the Division's strongest side.

Flintoff has had a touch of good fortune this morning, edges put down or flashed over the slips, but he carries himself in a way that belies his age. He looks to dominate in both defence and attack, and he hasn't looked a bit out of place.

  10. Play begins in Northwoodpublished at 13:29 British Summer Time 22 August

    Middx v Northants 5-0

It's dried up in North London but my days is it windy.

The camera feed is enough to give you sea sickness.

Prithvi Shaw leans out to drive the first ball of the match from Ethan Bamber away through point for four.

  11. wicket

WICKET: Davies c Rew b Aldridge 27published at 13:25 British Summer Time 22 August

    Warwickshire 52-1 v Somerset

Relief for Somerset with a breakthrough just before lunch.

Alex Davies will be furious with himself for chasing a wide one outside off stump, drawn into an attempted cut off Kasey Aldridge, James Rew moving in front of first slip to take the catch.

After putting the hosts in Somerset, probably justifiably given the overheads, will have been disappointed there has not been anything too helpful in the conditions.

Warwickshire's openers reached the half century in 77 balls, brisk progress before Davies's rush of blood.

  12. wicket

WICKET Clark c Luxton b Thompson 5published at 13:25 British Summer Time 22 August

    Yorks v Sussex 14-2

Tom Clark flashes at a wide delivery outside off stump and edges straight to gully.

The dot balls had built the pressure and Jordan Thompson is rewarded with his poorer ball - funny how often that happens!

In addition to ball-by-ball coverage here on BBC Sport, via most smart speakers there’s now a new way you can enjoy ALL our cricket coverage.

For most smart-speaker devices all you need to do is ask BBC Sounds to play the full title of the event you want.

So, for example, just say "ask BBC Sounds to play Surrey v Lancashire".

  14. Postpublished at 13:24 British Summer Time 22 August

    Yorks v Sussex 14-1

Ben Coad is really testing Daniel Hughes with in-jaggers that are leaping on the batter. The Australian was struck on the pad and the elbow in a challenging over.

This is going to be a really testing spell after a couple of hours under the covers.

  15. Division Two updatepublished at 13:20 British Summer Time 22 August

We are under way again at Derby and a couple for Dan Douthwaite has taken Glamorgan to 35-6 after 15 overs.

At Bristol, where Leicestershire are 5-0, the umpires are hoping to re-start play at 13:30.

  16. Postpublished at 13:16 British Summer Time 22 August

    Warwickshire 44-0 v Somerset

There were a few early shouts for Somerset but Warwickshire's openers are starting to look comfortable, ticking along at four an over.

Seemingly nothing much in the pitch with Rob Yates and Alex Davies having all the time in the world to pick their shots.

Not long until the introduction of Jack Leach's spin perhaps.

  17. Play resumes in Scarboroughpublished at 13:14 British Summer Time 22 August

    Yorks v Sussex 14-1

Things are a little brighter at North Marine Road and we have some more play following a lengthy hold-up.

A couple of singles for Daniel Hughes off Ben Coad and Jordan Thompson are the only additions so far.

    Worcestershire v Kent 98-3

    Derbyshire v Glamorgan 32-6

    Yorkshire v Sussex 12-1

  19. Lunch at the Riversidepublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 22 August

    Durham 121-0 v Nottinghamshire

Well that could not have gone much better for the hosts with Alex Lees (45) and Ben McKinney (74) striding off unbroken at lunch.

Nottinghamshire will be hugely disappointed not to have carved out more chances having put them in, their best chance coming when McKinney edged Calvin Harrison through slip and keeper.

The seamers did not get much change with Olly Stone (0-42 from his seven overs) probably wishing he had stayed in the nets at Old Trafford.

  20. Lunch at New Roadpublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 22 August

    Worcestershire v Kent 98-3

"None shall pass." Like the Black Knight in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, that has very much been Ben Compton's mindset at New Road.

The Kent opener picks up his first boundary in the penultimate over of the morning with a thick edge through the slip cordon off Tom Taylor.

Ethan Brookes bowls the final one, it's a maiden and Compton goes into lunch with 20 not out from 75 balls.

Tawanda Muyeye earlier made 56 off 64 balls before Worcestershire hit back with Joe Leach taking three wickets in his second spell.
