  1. wicket

WICKET: Jennings lbw Worrall 12published at 11:46 British Summer Time 22 August

    Surrey v Lancs 33-2

    Dan Worrall strikes!

He beats the left-handed Keaton Jennings on the inside edge to win an lbw shout.

Height doesn't look an issue - but was is straightening enough to go on and take a piece of off stump?

Jennings is very unhappy and has a couple of glances back at the umpire as he walks off.

It brings Rocky Flintoff to the crease at just 16 years old for a first-class debut - and he's off the mark first ball!

  2. Postpublished at 11:43 British Summer Time 22 August

    Worcs v Kent 33-0

Tom Taylor strays from the accurate line that has served him well thus far and Tawanda Muyeye wafts it away over the covers for four.

An ambitious stroke in the prevailing conditions but it came off - this time.

  3. Postpublished at 11:43 British Summer Time 22 August

Yorks v Sussex 12-1 - play delayed by rain

Uh-oh! More covers are being brought out and even the groundstaff have hoods on now.

This second band of rain looks much heavier than the first, so we might not be back on for a little while.

  4. Covers back on at Edgbastonpublished at 11:41 British Summer Time 22 August

    Warwickshire v Somerset (start delayed)

Somerset have won the toss and elected to have a bowl, but the start is still being delayed with sheets being rolled across the square either side of the hover cover by ground staff.

  5. Latest from Derbypublished at 11:40 British Summer Time 22 August

    Derbys v Glamorgan 18-4

    The procession continues.

Kiran Carlson plays all around a straight one from Zak Chappell and is lbw for a six-ball duck.

That's three wickets now for the Derbyshire paceman.

  6. Postpublished at 11:39 British Summer Time 22 August

    Worcs v Kent 29-0

A big moment for James Hartshorn, who was picked up by Worcestershire from Sussex club cricket to reinforce their seam bowling resources.

The New Zealander generates a decent amount of pace from a bustling run-up and ends a maiden with an appeal for lbw against Ben Compton, but it is too high.

  7. Postpublished at 11:37 British Summer Time 22 August

    Surrey v Lancs 28-1

Typical miserly stuff from Dan Worrall so far for Surrey - four overs for just six.

But a few runs flowing from Jordan Clark at the other end.

Keaton Jennings opens the blade on a length ball to steer his first boundary to third man.

And then Clark is too straight to Josh Bohannon and he clips very smartly through square leg for four to get off the mark.

Bohannon goes again, whipping one from off stump on the angle. A bit of Ricky Ponting about that.

Clark then gives him a wide away swinger and Bohannon times a drive gracefully through cover for a third four in the over.

  8. Forecast 'better later' at Northwoodpublished at 11:37 British Summer Time 22 August

Middlesex v Northants - rain stopped play

Steady drizzle has delayed the start of play at Merchant Taylors' School after Middlesex won the toss and unsurprisingly chose to bowl first.

The forecast is better for later in the day - and the home side will be itching to attack Northamptonshire's top order in overcast conditions.

  9. It's rainingpublished at 11:36 British Summer Time 22 August

Hants v Essex - start delayed

The mizzle turned into drizzle and now fully formed rain. No groundstaff nor umpires have been seen for a while, just a glistening white sheet across the square.

Play is extremely unlikely this side of lunch.

  10. Division Two updatepublished at 11:33 British Summer Time 22 August

Another one gone at Derby where Sam Northeast pushes forward to a ball from Zak Chappell and edges to Wayne Madsen at second slip.

A straightforward catch and the Welsh county are 18-3 after six overs following two Colin Ingram boundaries off Luis Reece.

Play is now under way at Bristol and Leicestershire's Rishi Patel takes a single off Ajeet Singh Dale's first ball of the innings following a 30-minute delay.

  11. Postpublished at 11:32 British Summer Time 22 August

    Durham 28-0 v Nottinghamshire

The handbrake is coming off at the Riverside after a steady start.

Ben McKinney moves to 16 sending the ball racing through the covers for four twice off Olly Stone in the seventh over, then helps himself to another from Brett Hutton in the next.

Luke Fletcher is into the attack.

  12. Postpublished at 11:30 British Summer Time 22 August

    Yorks v Sussex 12-1 - play delayed

The bad news is that there is still currently no action on the pitch.

The good news is that some youngsters are playing on the boundary edge, and that only minimal covers are currently laid down. Hopefully, we'll be back on fairly soon.

  13. Postpublished at 11:30 British Summer Time 22 August

    Worcs v Kent 27-0

Tawanda Muyeye is looking to be positive whenever possible at New Road and when Joe Leach drops short outside off stump, he cracks it away for his third boundary of the morning and moves to 17 not out.

  14. Postpublished at 11:26 British Summer Time 22 August

    Worcs v Kent 19-0

Tom Taylor shows no ill-effects after his tumble in the previous over as he sends down a maiden to Tawanda Muyeye at New Road. There is some swing there for the Worcestershire paceman, who has only conceded one run from his first three.

  15. wicket

WICKET Root b Reece 9published at 11:23 British Summer Time 22 August

    Derbys v Glamorgan 9-2

Wickets in successive overs for Derbyshire.

First, Zak Chappell produces a beauty of a leg0-cutter to account for Ben Kellaway, caught behind for nought.

Then, Billy Root is deceived by one which is angled in to him by left-armer Luis Reece and may also have kept a little low.

  16. Postpublished at 11:22 British Summer Time 22 August

    Durham 12-0 v Nottinghamshire

First boundary of the day from Alex Lees in the fifth over, punched through mid-off off Olly Stone. But it is not looking that easy for the Durham openers.

Stone, released from England squad duty yesterday, has caused Lees the odd moment of footwork indecision and Brett Hutton came close to finding the edge of Ben McKinney's bat in the fourth over.

  17. Postpublished at 11:18 British Summer Time 22 August

    Worcs 11-0 v Kent

Worrying moment for Worcestershire as Tom Taylor slips just short of his delivery stride at New Road and takes a heavy tumble. He's ok though and dusts himself down before completing his over.

A near thing in the next as Ben Compton dabs to backward point and Tawanda Muyeye has to dive full length to complete the single as the throw whistles past the stumps.

  18. rain stops play

Rain stops playpublished at 11:17 British Summer Time 22 August

    Yorks v Sussex 12-1

It is blowing an absolute hooley at Scarborough. As such, there has been drizzle and blue skies within the first four overs, and now heavier rain. So we're heading off.

In terms of the action we've had. New ball bowlers Ben Coad and Jordan Thompson have nibbled the ball around dangerously, but Daniel Hughes and new batter Tom Clark have each gloriously driven to the boundary. Honours even.

  19. wicket

WICKET: Wells b Clark 9published at 11:17 British Summer Time 22 August

    Surrey v Lancs 9-1

Luke Wells had one dip at Jordan Clark from round the wicket with the left-hander slicing one over the slips cordon for four.

He tries again to another full ball that swings away late and gets a thick inside edge that flattens leg stump.

  20. New caps aplenty at the Riversidepublished at 11:15 British Summer Time 22 August

    Durham 4-0 v Notts

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

We have started on time in CLS. It's sunny and windy and any showers which may pass by won't be here for long. It's also a nice 19C.

Durham have given Championship debuts to Neil Wagner, Ashton Turner and Daniel Hogg.

Wagner has appeared for four other counties, but Turner has only played white-ball cricket for Durham. The Australian spinner is back in the country ahead of the T20 quarter-final at Surrey in two weeks.

Hogg is a tall bowler, who has come through the Durham age groups and recently played a couple of one day games.

Notts have alos given a debut to off-spinner Freddie McCann, who has featured in the One-Day Cup this year as well.
