  1. wicket

WICKET: Borthwick b James 26published at 15:14 British Summer Time 22 August

    Durham 231-2 v Nottinghamshire

The Durham skipper departs. And he will not be best pleased with that.

Lyndon James has got one to shape back in which Borthwick simply and rather horribly misjudged, shouldering arms and hearing the furniture rattle.

Probably left that on line rather than height but it angled back a little more than he thought and clipped the top of off.

  2. 100 runs

up for Leicestershirepublished at 15:13 British Summer Time 22 August

    Glos v Leics 100-2

Easy pickings for Ajinkya Rahane, who clips Ajeet Singh Dale for a couple and takes Leicestershire's total to three figures.

The Indian is seven not out and opener Ian Holland has 33.

  3. Hughes 'rather gave it away'published at 15:05 British Summer Time 22 August

    Yorkshire v Sussex 76-3

Daniel Hughes is furious with himself, having battled away and reached his half century, he rather gives it away with a loose drive straight to cover where Jonny Tattersall gratefully takes the chance.

Tom Alsop is playing the anchor role here, his 14 coming off 65 balls, as the Yorkshire seam attack probe away with good lines and lengths.

  4. wicket

WICKET Rhodes b Overton 22published at 15:04 British Summer Time 22 August

    Warwickshire 94-2 v Somerset

And a new, new ball gets the breakthrough.

They could run out of balls at this rate with Somerset getting another after the changed one goes out of shape.

Anyway, it's Craig Overton with the new, new ball who makes an immediate impact his first effort sending one right through Will Rhodes's defences.

That wicket was needed and brings the exciting Hamza Shaikh to the wicket.

  5. wicket

WICKET: Bartlett c Robson b Bamber 4published at 15:03 British Summer Time 22 August

    Middx v Northants 78-4

Northants now in a spot of bother as George Bartlett also falls.

Ethan Bamber just gets on to bounce on him and it takes the shoulder of the bat and flies to first slip, where Sam Robson takes a simple catch.

  6. wicket

WICKET Stewart b Leach 26published at 15:01 British Summer Time 22 August

    Worcs v Kent 157-8

We wish we hadn't said that about Grant Stewart (see 2.57 entry).

He goes for another big shot but Joe Leach holds that one back a bit, Stewart plays a fraction too early and is bowled.

Clever work by the Worcestershire seamer, who now has 4-47 on his return to Championship action.

  7. wicket

WICKET: Iyer c Foakes b Worrall 4published at 14:59 British Summer Time 22 August

    Surrey v Lancs 160-6

Venkatesh Iyer, on his Lancashire debut, drives Sam Curran really pleasantly past point to get off the mark with a boundary.

But then has a charge and a swing at Dan Worrall and nicks off!

Worrall with his second wicket of the day and Surrey now well on top.

  8. Postpublished at 14:58 British Summer Time 22 August

    Yorks v Sussex 76-3

Almost a classic bit of bang-bang for Yorkshire.

New batter James Coles is desperate to get off-the-mark first ball. He dabs and runs to Jonny Tattersall at point.

Coles was safe, but Tom Alsop wouldn't have been in the frame had Tattersall hit at the one stump he had to aim at. He slumps to his knees in exasperation at his near miss.

  9. 150 runs

up for Kentpublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 22 August

    Worcs v Kent 150-7

Grant Stewart is a handy lower order batter and he thumps Tom Taylor through the covers for four as Kent's total reaches 150.

Stewart is 22 not out and Akeem Jordan has nine.

  10. Postpublished at 14:55 British Summer Time 22 August

    Warwickshire 86-1 v Somerset

Somerset are getting this new nut (or at least this recycled nut) to move a little, Craig Overton and Josh Davey getting past Rob Yates's outside edge a couple of times.

A breakthrough here would be most welcome.

  11. wicket

WICKET Hughes c Tattersall b Coad 53published at 14:54 British Summer Time 22 August

    Yorks v Sussex 75-3

    Fifty and out!

Daniel Hughes lasts two balls after raising his bat as he chips a half-volley from Ben Coad with a bit of width to short extra over.

It was a juggle from Jonny Tattersall but the 61-run stand for the third wicket has been ended.

  12. 50 runs

for Daniel Hughespublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 22 August

    Yorks v Sussex 75-2

A very fine knock in testing circumstances from Daniel Hughes.

The Australia has brought his Blast form - where he was the country's leading scorer - to the Championship with some crisp shot-making.

He set the tone by gloriously driving the first ball of the day for four and moved to the milestone in 86 balls with a well-timed flick to the ropes.

  13. Latest from Bristolpublished at 14:52 British Summer Time 22 August

    Glos v Leics 78-2

Gloucestershire have their second wicket in quick succession.

It wasn't the greatest delivery from Zaman Akhter but Lewis Hill cut it straight to point where Miles Hammond took the catch.

  14. wicket

WICKET: Hurst c McKeer b Curran 46published at 14:50 British Summer Time 22 August

    Surrey v Lancs 155-5

It was a smart comeback for Lancashire since losing Rocky Flintoff first ball of the session.

Matthew Hurst and George Balderson batted together for over an hour.

But on the cusp of a half-century, Hurst has fallen into the leg trap set by Sam Curran.

It almost worked against Josh Bohannon this morning but this time the catch is taken.

Hurst tickles one to leg from round the wicket and McKerr stretches out a right hand to take a really sharp catch.

  15. for Zak Chappellpublished at 14:47 British Summer Time 22 August

    Derbys v Glamorgan 111-8

    Zak ChappellImage source, Rex Features

Mason Crane wafts outside off stump, edges through to the keeper and Derbyshire paceman Zak Chappel has his fourth five-for in first-class cricket.

He has exploited helpful conditions well but his next delivery is on leg stump and Glamorgan debutant Fraser Sheat tickles it away fine for four.

  16. wicket

WICKET: Procter b Helm 0published at 14:46 British Summer Time 22 August

    Middx v Northants 61-3

A tricky stay for the Northants captain Luke Procter.

10 balls without scoring and then he drives over the top of one from Tom Helm from round the wicket and loses his off stump.

    Middlesex right on top now.

  17. Division Two updatepublished at 14:42 British Summer Time 22 August

A boundary by Timm van der Gugten pushes Glamorgan's total past 100 at Derby - a number that seemed a long way off when they were 32-6 during the morning session. They are now 107-7 after 34 overs, with VdG 27 not out.

Following the dismissal of Rishi Patel, Leicestershire are now 75-1 after 20 overs at Bristol. Ian Holland is 21 not out and has been joined by captain Lewis Hill.

  18. Postpublished at 14:41 British Summer Time 22 August

    Warwickshire 85-1 v Somerset

This second wicket partnership between Will Rhodes and Rob Yates is up to 33 now as Somerset continue to toil. Boundaries and batting are both coming easily for the hosts.

Somerset have at least got a change of ball which they will hope will bring better fortune.

  19. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 14:38 British Summer Time 22 August

    Yorks v Sussex 62-2

A life for Tom Alsop. A rare false shot from the Sussex batter and the ball flies to third slip.

It went quickly and Finley Bean has to dive, but that was very much a good chance to break the third wicket - now worth 48 after Alsop clips off his legs for a salt in the wound boundary.

  20. wicket

WICKET Patel c Bracey b de Lange 47published at 14:34 British Summer Time 22 August

    Glos v Leics 66-1

    Rishi PatelImage source, Rex Features

A fairly tame dismissal for Rishi Patel with a half-century there for the taking.

Marchant de Lange finds enough movement away from the bat to find the edge and it's a routine take for wicketkeeper James Bracey.
