Miscued pull shot from Rachin Ravindra, who is lured into taking on a short-pitched delivery from Brydon Carse but does not get it quite out of the middle hitting into the wind.

Jacob Bethell at deep square leg steadies himself underneath the high ball and pouches the catch.

    Ben Stokes is cock-a-hoop.

  4. Eng 64-2published at 19 overs

Incidentally, Ben Stokes was quick to check on the wellbeing of Kane Williamson, who was clocked on the bonce after failing to connect with a hook shot.

The Kiwi great seems okay as he sees out the remainder of the over without much alarm.

Pros of being on holiday in Australia: ability to watch the New Zealand test live without pain. It's 30 degrees here. Cons: trying to follow on a ferry to Rottnest Island is problematic.

    Get well soon, Neil.

Argentina are involved a T20 World Cup qualifying tournament next week, I think, so hopefully you are recovered in time.

Meanwhile, Ben Stokes has just landed a bumper on Kane Williamson's helmet which means we'll have a concussion check and a change of lid.

England have the edge for sure but it's a pitch which flattens out. England love a chase so New Zealand have a lot of work to do in their second innings.

England's players are just heading back out at the Hagley Oval, followed not long after by Kane Williamson and Rachin Ravindra.

England in a good position as they make their way in for a cuppa on day three.

Time for me to take a breather so - back from a whistle-stop visit to Dorset - Timothy Abraham is here to take you through the tea break and the start of the evening session.

Excellent from England in that session - both with the bat and with the ball. New Zealand will still have a glimmer of hope, but it's advantage England.

The end of another good session for England.

They added more quick runs to earn a 151-run lead on first innings and then removed both New Zealand openers.

Kane Williamson and Rachin Ravindra have settled things down for New Zealand, adding 39 for the third wicket but the Black Caps still have plenty of work to do.

Good bouncer from Gus Atkinson and this time Kane Williamson does play it.

A bit of a top edge with the pull shot but the ball lands safely, he takes a single and becomes the first New Zealand batter to reach 9,000 Test runs.

A fantastic achievement for a fantastic player.

    Lovely shot from Rachin Ravindra.

The left-hander was dismissed charging Shoaib Bashir in the first innings but stays put here, getting down and sweeping behind square for four.

Eight from the over and we've got time for one more before tea.

Bumpers at one end, spin at the other.

Shoaib Bashir is coming on for his first bowl of the second innings after taking four-for in the first.
