If India lose this match, they would do so with a total of 835 runs. Only three times in Test history has a team made more runs in a Test and lost.

In the current top eight of highest match totals to lose are as follows: Pakistan's 847 in Rawalpindi in 2022, New Zealand's 837 at Trent Bridge in the same year and Pakistan's 776 at Multan last year, all beaten by the Bazballers. They are the only three entries in the top eight since 1948.

Desperately disappointed with Steve from Southampton (12:51). I also have been a long time supporter of England, first watching them in the '70s. Is Steve really preferring a Boycott innings to a Bazball innings?! England & McCullum may well be responsible for keeping demand up for Test cricket in this new world of franchise cricket. Perhaps Steve would prefer no Test cricket at all?!

    Thanks Sam.

Yes, England have done well to get through that session unscathed, setting up a solid platform for a successful chase.

The morning wasn't without its nervy moments - Jasprit Bumrah put down a hard chance to dismiss Zak Crawley.

After a session that could hardly have gone any better for England, it is time for me to hand over to Mike Peter.

The much-maligned Zak Crawley and the Mr Consistency, Ben Duckett, have laid the foundations for the hosts to really get stuck into this chase of 371.

Unless there is a minor miracle, this is heading straight England's way.

Mohammed Siraj is furious as Zak Crawley backs away at the last moment with one ball left in the session.

He points to a fan moving behind the bowler's arm but Siraj is having none of it. India wanted to get another over in before lunch.

No such luck and Siraj continues to argue with Crawley and Ben Duckett as the umpire flicks the bail offs.

Anyway, brilliant session for England. They've added 96 runs without losing a wicket. Another 254 needed to win.

Proper theatre as the England fans respond to India’s as ball reaches boundary.

Shubman Gill is furiously trying to get his fielders to hurry up to get in another Bumrah over.

Chance for India - albeit a very tough one.

Zak Crawley pushes the ball back towards Jasprit Bumrah. It's low but it does carry and the bowler gets a hand on it in his follow-through.

Those either stick or they don't. This one, much to England's relief, does not.

    Erm... OK, Steve.

Well I'm not sure whether you're supporting England this time or not but they're into the last 10 minutes of the session without having lost a wicket.

Jasprit Bumrah is in full flow, though. That said Ben Duckett pushes a low full toss through mid-off for three.

Since the Bazball era I have found it ever more difficult to support England. Arrogance dripping from them so I end up supporting whoever they are playing. It's a shame... I went to my first Test in 1980 and at the age of nine it was like watching heroes! Nowadays it's like watching spoilt brats.

Only two bowlers in India's squad have dismissed Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley on multiple occasions in Test cricket.

One is of course Jasprit Bumrah (five times vs Crawley, twice vs Duckett) and the other is not in the playing XI in this Test match, wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav (three times vs Crawley, three times vs Duckett).

India do have a new, 27-ish over old ball, and Ravindra Jadeja will get first use of it.

Just one from an over that ends with Zak Crawley attempting a paddle-sweep and making a bit of a meal of it.

    Here we go.

Siraj playing the Kohli role of conductor in the field. They’re missing Kohli’s energy.

The crowd has been lifted. It’s not full Mumbai but those below me are chanting “Boom Boom” as Bumrah runs in.

    Maiden over from Jasprit Bumrah.

Zak Crawley solid in defence and what's this? India might finally be getting their wish to change the ball.

It doesn't go through the rings so the fourth umpire strides out with a suitcase full of alternatives.

Huge cheers from the India fans as Jasprit Bumrah is brought back. His team-mates are clapping along too.

This feels massive, with 20 minutes to go until lunch. Three Bumrah overs?
