We may be witnessing a new, improved version of the Bazball era today. Positive and controlled batting, without the unnecessary and reckless shots we've seen so often in the past. Long may this continue.

Ruth Brooksbank, day out cancelled to follow this.

Having watched us crumble in Tests for 25+ years, it’s great to have an England team that really can chase down 400 in a fourth innings. Win, lose or draw, this team deserves so much credit.

I don't want to put this all on Tuffers but from the moment he said England's openers haven't taken any risks, it feels like they've gone out of their way to prove him wrong!

It's Ben Duckett this time, trying to reverse sweep a ball that was heading down leg and ends up plinking it into the off side.

Here come the risks... Careful now!

After missing with a pull shot, Zak Crawley goes again and completely mistimes it.

The ball goes a long way up but lands in the gap between the fielders on the leg side.

A bit more fortune to end the over as the right-hander stretches to drive and sends a thick edge wide of gully for two more.

These two have cruised there. They're going at a canter at the moment and no real risks taken.

Ben Duckett really is some player.

Crawley just lent onto that and it has flown for four to bring up the 100 partnership.

Crunching drive from Zak Crawley to bring up the hundred partnership with Ben Duckett.

Hit at the top of the bounce, through the covers for four.

Superb stuff from the England openers both last evening and this morning.

Crawley and Duckett have surpassed 2,000 runs as an opening partnership, currently average 44 per partnership. It's the first time an English pair has surpassed this milestone since Alastair Cook and Andrew Strauss.

I am not happy with this field. Shubman has to bring mid-on up. Jadeja is a quality spinner and he should be inviting Crawley to go there.

Nothing rash from Crawley and Duckett as they have a little look at Ravindra Jadeja.

Four singles from the over, the last of them courtesy of a strong reverse sweep from Duckett.

Ben Duckett reached fifty off 66 balls - his fifth slowest in Tests.

His first-innings fifty took 68 balls - his third slowest.

Time for some spin. Ravindra Jadeja is coming on for his first bowl of the day. What will be in this surface for him?

The odd one is going to jump out of this surface, we saw it when England were bowling yesterday, and Prasidh Krishna proves it with an 89mph delivery that rises past Ben Duckett.

That aside, the England left-hander takes a pair of twos to deep mid-wicket in the over.

The home side's run-rate is now up to exactly four an over.

Positive cricket is certainly the way to go in fourth innings chases. The trick is not to get carried away.

There are one or two warning lights flashing for India now as these two look very steady. They need Ravindra Jadeja on.

Lovely drive through the covers from Zak Crawley.

He's had to wait to get one of those through this morning but he does so superbly this time. All along the deck and comfortably beats the fielder in the race to the fence.

Either side of that boundary, India try to get the ball changed again. They think it's out of shape but the umpires are having none of it.

I love Duckett and Crawley, such a reliable opening partnership and one that can't be overstated after some of our recent struggles at the top of the order.

    Peter, Durham

Crawley will know what a huge innings this is for him. He has started well and needs to get to lunch before attacking this afternoon.

What's Duckett doing there? That all went wrong, I'm not sure why he did that.

    He has hurt himself there.
